this song is part of the "bts universe", it's a fictional storyline that connect their songs together (they also made short films and a webtoon). in summary, it's about 7 friends who all go through individual struggles, and learn to love themselves. the one who committed murder lives in an abusive household and that was his dad abusing his sister. there's one who unalived himself by setting himself on fire, and there's another one on pills, etc. the one who got beat up (jungkook), just bumped into thugs and it's alluding to his life being shitty and beating him down.

I haven't had to explain the meaning of this song for a while so bare with me 😂. If I'm not mistaken it's about struggling so deeply on your own but being able to survive the worst of it when you have these people that you love surrounding you. Of course that's how I took it but I'm sure it has deeper meaning. The original lyric was supposed to be "I need you friend" but it didn't sound right so it was changed to "I need you girl" which flowed way better Took the pills and overdosed - J-hope, his verse is my favorite, the way he says "I hate you so bad" scratches an itch in the brain seriously Going crazy in the bathtub - Jimin, his acting pulled me in completely when this first came out Getting beat up - Jungkook, and he wasn't smiling while getting beat up, he was like grimacing in pain lmfao Stabbing someone - Taehyung, I think he was meant to be defending his sister (?). His acting was amazing throughout this whole era Setting room on fire - Suga, I'm still not sure what he was going through but fire was his reoccurring thing during this tl Gas station - RM, his character is kinda the most interesting to me. Idk how to describe it though Holding the flower at the beginning - Jin, a very very important factor in this universe

The video isn’t related to song/ lyrics. The video is a follow up video for their storyline called BU. It’s a continuous storyline that runs through BTS music videos and albums. According to the BU the guy V stabbed was his father who was abusing his mother in that scene and throughout his childhood.

There is something you guys probably should do and that is to watch their official music video and also their dance practice. What attracted me to BTS was their singing AND Dancing. Their choreography is what they practiced 10 to 14 hours a day and that's why their live performances are so entertaining. There were far too many American and Western artists who just sing, rap or have a music video with sex, drugs, violence, women, cars it took BTS to get me attracted to their music and dancing.

JK was beaten up by passing thugs/bullies and like you said, I think he was trying to feel something because he was feeling alone and depressed without his friends. This is the beginning of the fictional BU ( Bangtan Universe ) storyline. The story continues on to On stage Prologue then, Run mv and so forth etc.

This song is actually abt friendship, but "I Need You Friend" sounded weird, that's why the use "Girl". And also the whole music video was showing how they were facing their own struggles but they're happy when they're together and there for each other. And also.. another hint was in the last second of the video. Tae called Jin (the oldest member) after he stabbed his stepdad bcs his dad harassed his sister.
