The "ninjas" actually represent ARMY. The entire mv is a metaphor for BTS and ARMY's story of coming up from nothing and going through struggles and hardships but continuing on despite all the hate to achieve your dreams. The bullets represent those struggles and attacks from haters and antis to both BTS and ARMY. If you'll watch again during the bridge the members start falling down getting shot and immediately ARMYs come running to protect them and take the bullets instead of the members. Then the members come forward pulling ARMYs to their feet and lead the march to victory against their haters. They end the mv gathering ARMYs behind them and link arms to protect us.

The lyrics of Not Today encourage listeners to keep fighting and to not give up. With the dedication to “all the underdogs in the world” and the mention of “crow-tits” it is reminiscent of BTS’ earlier songs such as No More Dream, N.O and Baepsae which encourage young people (/students) to stand up for themselves and to not blindly accept and follow everything they are told.
