other idol groups don’t really do cyphers like this or have these kind of rap skills because (honestly speaking) half of them are only rappers because their companies told them to to fit the group and it’s image and because they’re not really able to be singers 🤷‍♀️ suga and rm were both underground rappers long before bts and when jhope joined he was taught to rap by other underground rappers too,, so yeah bts definitely has the best rappers in the kpop industry, but of course there’s other actual rappers in the khiphop scene too

And also, when you consider who their musical influences are, it is easy to see why their rap skills would be so far above the rest. They learned rap by listening to Eminem, Nas, Drake, and other great western hip hop artists along with great Korean hip hop artists. It is a lot different than learning to rap in rap classes during training. Not saying other Idol rappers are not good rappers, but the skill levels are not the same.

There are a lot of American 'Rappers' who rap as a genre but don't have the mc skills, not even lyrics that will make them hip hop. I'm no expert at hiphop, but it's nice to see that BTS is doing it right.

In case no one have told you, the Cyphers basically started when they kept getting hate from other rappers. Coming from an underground scene background (except Jhope), when they chose to become idols, a lot of them were saying they were straying away from hiphop. They said they arent "true rappers". In particular, a person named B-free humiliated them saying that being idols equates to being "feminine" and that they are not rappers. They had a mentality that you cannot do hiphop and be an idol. Thats why in Cypher part 2, they had a line saying "go back to hawaii" because bfree was from there. They are the only kpop group to release these cyphers.

as i know only BTS rap line has Cypher and releases diss tracks for underground rappers/fellow rappers. maybe because they all come from the underground scene, they don't play. there are some differences between "idol rapper" and "real rapper" so there aren't many rappers like BTS rap line that you can find in the Kpop idol community

other rappers in K-pop can't do cypher, bcoz 95% rappers do raps in K-pop bcoz they can't sing.. Anyone can rap in studio version in 100 retakes with 1 or 2 bar's , real rappers should know how to write their own bars nd perform that live with the same energy ND flow... Rm was 15 yrs old when he was underground rapper in K-pop no one can compete with his flow nd writings. Joke by rm is perfect example for his rapping skills, ND for lyricism you can react to "mono" his mixtape. His mixtape is lyrically masterpiece.

They’re actually friends with EXO. Jimin is BFF with Kai (EXO) Suga is friends with Suho (EXO leader) and V is friends with Baekhyun (EXO). As a group they are both in good terms. While Idol fandoms can be quite competitive, Idol groups rarely have significant issues with other Idol groups. The Cypher series was mainly a rap response to criticisms of BTS and Idol rappers generally from the underground rap scene. The underground rap perception was Idol rappers had sold out hip hop and basically sacrificed skills and control over expression for fame and money. Idol rappers in reality as BTS shows can be quite skilled and free to express if their label permits. However, BTS's efforts were enveloped in a stereotype which drew overt ridicule and belittlement. BTS, literally on their label, included these Cyphers on their albums allowing their rap line an appropriate rap (battle) response.

I think, at the very least, it's clueless in those who compare BTS rappers with other colleagues in the kpop industry, I don't say that because I'm ARMY. I've listened to some kpop raps and I can safely say that no one reaches the level of lyricism and visceral veracity in their lyrics like RM, J-hope and Suga. Simply because RM and Suga came from the underground and because J-hope experienced a lot of that vein when he was still just a dancer. Rap goes beyond singing fast and memorizing lines.
