if you have watched black swan you would realize that seokjins mirror part is straight off from that movie where the reflection keeps on looking at him despite of his action of turning to the camera. even jimins swan thingy is from the movie. I think this is what they are trying to portray as their shadow. Just like the protagonist in the movie, their deep dark side is obsession with artistic perfection. Stemming from a disadvantaged background and a company that started out with minimal capital, BTS has always had to be perfect in order to rise in the cut throat industry. Them encompassing the message of the movie portrays that the obsession with artistic perfection is now ingrained within them and has become a force that can drag them down. The visual cuts/transitions in this are so damned good! This video is my favorite type, where they do it in a real location and then mess with our heads on the bits of CGI they add. It’s obvious that Jimin put a lot of effort in preparing for this, even though we don’t really see his face clearly in any of the shots. Another perfect video from BTS.

JK doesn't have wings in the group concept Black Swan pic but he falls. V on Weverse said that Jimin is the Black Swan. Jimin was the only one to get wings in this MV. Jin seeing himself in the mirrors is related to Blood Sweat and Tears where his face cracks in the mirror and also related to the "Shadow" interlude SUGA's set. Its the same set. Can't derive any meanings but just stating the facts. 😂😅

Their outfits also have symbolic meaning: they start as white swans (innocent) and, as they reflect on their craft, they become black swans. I really like this detail, specially since the setting looks like a ballet theater.

There is something I notice in few of the bts comebacks is that they always bring back the “angel” with black wings. It was here, it was also in blood sweat and tears with the statue that Jin kissed and then V with the wings cut off, it’s also in a few of the MOTS promo photos, in those they all have black angel wings. I don’t see many people talk about it but i always notice it somewhere, that those black angel wings comeback.

This is a beautiful MV & all the BTS member did such an amazing job!!! They really are remarkably talented & beautifully harmonized group of young artists! We all can see that throughout the video, Jimin is portraying so perfectly of each member’s emotional struggles of inner lights & darknesses as an idol & an artist with his amazingly beautiful contemporary dance movements! That is why when each member’s solo part of scene, Jimin would dance as their shadow at the back ground to show each member’s emotional changes, expressing their inner struggles & pain through his dance movements as their shadow! Jimin truly is unbelievably gifted dancer who could interpreted all the emotion of the music into his beautiful body movements so magically that he becomes an absolutely beautiful artistic masterpiece! His dance would just takes your breath away! Also the changes of lighting effects showed that at the beginning of the MV, their shadows are behind them & showed with wild emotional dance movements to represent they were denying their own darkness(shadow) existence & their inner struggles with their shadows but when scenes changes like Suga’s scenes & more, the positions of their shadows were shown at their front to represent that BTS are finally confronting their own shadows & accepting their darkness(shadows) as a part of them! In the end, the scene with JK, his shadow is melting into JK as there is no more fighting with his darkness(shadow) when he was finally faced & acknowledging his shadow(darkness) & accepting all, light & darkness!!! This is just my personal opinion but It would have been more wonderful if their outfits of dancing scenes were not the suits but something more suitable for dancers outfit to ease their movements & show their beautiful outlines of the dance movements! Because with these spectacular artistic lighting effects they were using, it would have been wonderfully emphasized each member’s beautiful outlines of their dance movements so perfectly! Nevertheless this MV is really amazingly beautiful artistic masterpiece!!!

That theater they used in the filming is an old theater in Los Angeles, California specifically in Downtown LA . As we know #BTS were in LA for awhile for the Grammys so we can assume it was during this time they filmed the MV for this beautiful song.

This was filmed at the historic Los Angeles Theater in Downtown Los Angeles (part of the Broadway Theater District)- It has an over the top, ornate, vaudville vibe. The moody lighting makes this theater look even more beautiful than it is. I remember it had bit of an old musty smell. It's like stepping into pre-war, old Hollywood Los Angeles. Also Jin's mirror room is part of the lady's room.

Black Swan is seriously one of my favourite BTS track, may it be the trappy studio one or the string orchestra one I just love this title and was dying for an mv. This went well beyond my expectations. It's so extravagant and yet so very subtle, how is that even a thing... It's crazy how BTS not only always deliver but manage to surprise everyone even when they are dropping so much content in such a short amount of time.
