BTS tends to portray ideas and thoughts very well in their songs or videos. The complexity of most of his compositions beautifully expresses his creative and artistic choices. To do this, they use various devices and symbols, linking literary, psychological and social references. Repeating words is a deliberate literary device that puts emphasis on something and is called Epizeuxis. In this case, "bump, bump, bump" is the sound of the heartbeat and conveys the heightened sensation of anxiety; and, "jump, jump, jump" deepens the feeling of depression and dark thoughts, adding layers of complexity to the lyrics. In the case of "nah, nah, nah" and "yeah, yeah, yeah" the repetition makes the song accessible to BTS's multinational and multilingual audience where fans from diverse backgrounds can easily sing along, creating a sense of unity and connection. . “Black Swan” is inspired by the psychological theories of Carl Jung and explores the concept of “Shadow” which addresses the darkest things that exist in all of us and that we hide or repress, for example, our fears and doubts or our prejudices. It is based on the following quote from dancer and choreographer Martha Graham, “a dancer dies twice - once when she stops dancing, and this first death is the most painful”. That's why it's relatable to Tchaikovsky's famous ballet, "Swan Lake", where there's a character called Black Swan. This song has an essentially deep and personal meaning for BTS, as it refers to the fear of losing their passion for music. The video portrays the fight between light and darkness, with beautiful visuals, powerful choreography and emotional vocals, adding depth to the narrative and representing the artists' internal conflicts and emotions. But the lyrics end with the hope that they will fight this feeling by looking deeper into themselves, understanding their feelings, knowing themselves better, and using those feelings as inspiration to make more music. 💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜

One of the many things that sets BTS apart from other groups is their lyrics. Even if you think a song is about love or a breakup, it rarely is. Their lyrics involve topics such as self-love, the false image of their generation, diss tracks, mental health, societal issues and events, Karl Jung’s theory of becoming your true self, and in Black Swan, the relationship that artists have with their craft and the fear of losing that connection. With BTS it’s always deeper than you think.

Oh huh, I should've given time and read the lyrics, I unfortunately am not very lyrical so lyrics just fly right over my head and I usually end up not understanding the song, but I will now read the lyrics to this and see if I can understand it!

The song is about their fear of losing their passion for their art. Lyrics are pretty important in most BTS songs. As for the dancing, there are dance practices for many of their songs on BANGTANTV channel. You can see all the dance moves better in their dance practices, which are usually for their live shows rather than their MVs. You might like MicDrop (Steve Aoki remix), but the lyrics are also important there. Black Swan was my intro to BTS, and I fell in love with the artistry, the dancing, the meaning of the song, etc. It wasn't long after I became a full-fledged fan (called ARMY). Never looked back.

Oh hmmm so I don't normally read lyrics of any songs, even from my ultimate favs and the reason why is that I'm not very lyrical so the meaning usually gets lost and fly right over my head but I'll read the lyrics now and try my best to understand it! Thanks for the recommendation of MicDrop, however I've already listen to MicDrop when it first released so I already know the song!

this song is based on a Martha Graham quote: “A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful” BTS are talking about their fear of losing their passion for making art/music and those negative thoughts (shadows) are part of their lives and have learned to accept them and continue their purpose to make more music/art. BORAHAE PS. I understand that you prefer to NOT read the lyrics, you just want to feel the music and watch the dancing BUT you are missing out. BTS's strongest pillar in their music is their lyrics. This is your channel and you should do what you want and i respect that. Take care.

@@Sunneko_Reacts i understand. Just remember everyone has different ways to interpret a song even ARMY doesn't agree 100% on the meaning of BTS song. BTS is very good to have multiple layers, symbolism, easter eggs, hidden jokes and even cultural references that even OG ARMY are still trying to decipher. That is why ARMY love watching new Honest reactors like you because you might interpret their music in a new light, with fresh eyes, based on your experiences and give us a new layer ARMY didn't see. I know it might feel overwhelming so take your time. BORAHAE

BTS "dances their lyrics" i stead of using instruments like a regular band. So.if one reads the lyrics and watches the choreography, you'll see they almost always compliment each other. It's just not some random choreography. But not everyone has the time or energy to dig deeper,and thats okay too,BTS isn't for just everyone. ARMY is over 90 million,so we're good. Thank you for sharing however.💜❄️

And I totally understand when I'm watching a music video I really want to pay attention to their dancing and choreography. Oftentimes I'll read the lyrics ahead of time before I watch the video just because I don't want to be distracted trying to do both. That is so relatable. Thank you again wow I've been enjoying watching your reactions to V so much. Now excited to watch your reactions to BTS. Borahae

BTS has a huge discography with very few romantic love or breakup songs. Love songs generally express their love for their fans, Army. Lyrics are hugely important and so often poetic even in translation. Their songs have depth and many need a bit of explanation due to cultural, societal, and language differences, since they don't write from a Western viewpoint.
@Sunneko_Reacts12 күн бұрын
I definitely will start trying to understand lyrics more! I'm not very lyrical so it's hard for me to understand at most times, it just goes way over my head. Even some kpop songs that I've listened to for over 10 years, I still don't know the lyrics of, I generally just listen for the vibes but I'll definitely start reading lyrics from now on and try to understand them, I do apologize if I don't understand them or interpret the meaning of the song wrong.

As others have explained this song is based on the quote from Martha Graham, the famous ballet dancer, who said: “A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful”. It is about their fear of losing their passion for music, whether through exhaustion or other means etc. Everything in BTS music has meaning, with the exception of a couple, so this includes not only the lyrics, but the MVs, costumes, and many symbols in the MVs. Lyrics are really important in BTS songs, so if this is not what you tend to focus on, without knowing them you maybe won't get the full brilliance of the music. However, there are ways that some reactors deal with this who are similar to you and prefer to focus on the music and dancing. Some play the MV twice, the first time to focus on the musical and visual elements, the second to read through the lyrics. Others just have the lyrics with them or read through first, so they have an idea of what the song is about and can then focus on visual and music. If you like the dance element, BTS is known for complex choreography and there are lots of dance practice videos to watch also on Bangtan TV you tube channel.
@Sunneko_Reacts12 күн бұрын
So in general, I do focus more so on the musical and visual elements, in terms of lyrics, I've also mentioned in several replies, it's not that I don't want to, it's just I'm not very lyrical so most of the meaning of the song and the meaning of the lyrics fly right over my head, there are some kpop songs that I've listened to for over 10 years and I still don't know the lyrics of, I just listen to them for the vibes. But I'll try to look into the lyrics more in the future and try to understand them, I could be completely off so I apologize for my future reactions.

@Sunneko_Reacts BTS have intentions in their message in songs, but they also have said that it is also whatever it means to you the listener. Often there can be more than one interpretation. For example, when BTS sing about love, it is usually about self love (a main message of the group is love yourself), however if you interpret it as romantic love, that is also ok. Struggles that may seem to be about a relationship can be that, but also about inner struggles of different aspects of yourself. Hope this makes sense! 💜

Black Swan is based in the famous quote of the Dancer Martha Graham 'A dancer dies twice, once when the stop dancing this is the most painful death' and also BTS are talking about their real fear the fear of losing their passion for their art eg for song writing, composing, producing rapping, singing, dancing etc They nearly did lose that passion due to all the work, stress and the hateful reactions they were receiving. They nearly disbanded due to it all.

It’s okay to not understand every element or even bigger things. It’s okay to enjoy a beat or love the dancing cause it’s awesome. They have some songs with great artistry and complexity. Great messages in their lyrics. There is a whole universe to some of their work so beware of that rabbit hole. I rewatch vids and reread lyrics. Some fans analyze more than others. There are good sites with good translations and explanations on videos (esp cultural things). You don’t have to worry about “getting it right”. Fans appreciate people who are genuine. 💜

Nice reaction! It is okay when you are focused more on their dancing, BTS is a full package, it needs time to see it all! It is not Black Swan without a reason, the Dance choreography based on a mixture of classic and modern dance and of course Aronovskys film.That what you define as Bad Boys vibe is them showing their fears about their love and compassion to their work. And forget to expect something before, BTS will always surprise you!

Rather than be confused its always good to do some research first otherwise if you say something a bit disrespectful ARMY let you know. Very professional and takes himself to exhaustion to make it perfect

@@Sunneko_Reacts ARMY have had to learn as most music within the Kpop Industry really doesn't have much if any message of sustance. BTS (Bangtan)) are different due to having complete creative freedom but Mr Bang said 'Write about your own stories, lives and that he expect to see them improve and continue to improve." which of course they did as they already had 2 members RM and Suga who were underground Rappers who wrote their own lyric and Suga also even then was Producing for other people but they failed to pay him eg stole from him or as we Brits say 'Ripped him off'. In fact RM and Suga both write for other artists within the Industry. Suga also Produces for other artists within the Industry and has won awards as a Producer.
