From Wikipedia: "Blue & Grey" is a song by South Korean boy band BTS from their fifth Korean-language studio album, Be (2020). The song was written by Suga, RM, J-Hope, Metaphor, and its producers Park Ji-soo, Levi, V, and Hiss Noise. Originally intended to be included on V's solo mixtape, the song was released on November 20, 2020, as the third track on the album. A slow, tender pop ballad, its lyrics reflect on depression, burnout, anxiety, and pandemic-induced loneliness using the colors blue and grey. The original song for V was fully in English and had no rap verses. The song in BTS album kept some lyrics from the original but other lyrics were rewritten to fit with the rap verses besides using Korean and English.

This song was supposedly be in Taehyung's mixtape as he wrote and produced it, but when the member heard of it they decided to include it in BE. And actually it was really a great timing because it was released during the pandemic having a goal to give comfort to the people. Blue & Grey was never promoted but secured #13 in BBHOT100 when it was released.

The reason why you feel Taehyung shines in this song so much is because it’s personal for him and comes from his heart & soul from when he was having a very difficult time. He co-wrote, co-composed and co-produced this song… it was also originally meant for his own mix tape which kept getting delayed (sweet night too… imagine the craziness of that mixtape if he had released it), the lyrics were originally all English, that version he played in the Soop. When it was decided to be a group song Tae also directed the Korean lyric writing process, along his own lyrics he chose lyrics from the Rapline members that he felt interpreted his emotions best and in the way he wanted the song to be. For example the ‘don’t say your okay because you are not okay’ which was a line Yoongi wrote. The instrumental part is also genius as not only it let’s the song breath but it mimics the beat of a human heart. It’s honestly a work of Art. Blue & Grey is hands down the best song on BE album in my opinion and one of the best b-sides ever. It’s a song that millions of Army have resonated with on a deep level. I agree that vocal line slays and the lyrics of Rapline have so many profound analogies… but definitely Tae is the centrepiece of this song and shines brightly and beautifully both from a vocal and visual perspective. I’m just so glad that he is in a happier place since then. He said he wrote the song to over come and conquer his burnout (depression and anxiety) and it appears he did so successfully. Tae and Jimin's vocals together are always heavenly. I think you are right, they are just made for each other. Their voices, their vocals and visuals. I will say 100%, Tae shined the most. Absolutely! The whole MTV Unplugged got me locked in as Army, and Tae as my ult bias. Him being ending fairy for all 5 songs BTS performed on that, and knowing he wrote the original Blue & Grey just cemented it💜

Taehyung made this song at a very difficult time in his life. I cried when I heard it for the first time, because I felt his pain in the words. It's my favorite BTS song

What lines that seemed overlooked was Suga’s line saying he was born from lonliness. That his mother & father had sex because they were lonely. The other is J-Hope saying he was always happy but then he became depressed to the point staring at a rhino didn’t even affect him.He just didn’t care anymore.
