They were poking fun at the k-drama genre. That’s why the shoving and forceful ways with the girl. Apparently that kind of attitude is portrayed on those shows. And Suga played basketball in school so he is really good at spinning that ball. You all should check out some of the Bangtan Bombs. They have some cool behind the scenes on their music videos and the idol olympics they’ve participated on.

Nancy Rodriguez Not just K-dramas. A lot of Chinese and Japanese tv shows portray aggression as “hot,” which I can understand to a degree but it’s really excessive. If a guy pushed me up against a locker, he’d leave unable to have children. In those dramas, the girls are always so passive. It ticks me off XD.

Please don't watch the L.A version. 😂 Let's wait until you guys decide to stan and all. That version is for ppl who watched the whole AHL and are fully committed to the boys, understand their personalities and have an idea of their mindset at that specific period of their career. 😅 And even after all of that... It's still REALLY cringy. That version didn't aged well at all... Either way, it's part of BTS's and ARMYs history and, as a nation, we have to learn about that, but only when we're ready. Please wait a little bit more. You should watch all of their MVs first, check out the rapline mixtapes, then the dance practices, then the Bangtan Bombs and logs, then run episodes on vlive, then Burn The Stage, then their DVDs and all... AND THEEEEN you watch AHL. And boys, you'll cringe.

I think what they were trying to do was reenact their song. They were acting as bad boys who have never fallen in love before and never knew how to treat a girl. All the things they are doing isn’t considered kind or necessarily right because they were portraying bad boys who were mean and going about this whole crush the wrong way. Even love in boy in luv is spelled wrong. They Weren’t trying to “act” proper, they were rebellious and making mistakes was their forte.(in the video- not real life! Jin apologized to her in real life) Also During that time period, that was a trend in Korea. Guys in dramas would manhandle or rough house the girl in the dramas and that was considered being a manly man(pretty much the same as a bad boy for America standards) The girl would then change the bad boy for the better and he would become much nicer torwards the end.

Boy in Luv dance practice is also worth watching. btw, BTS caught a lot of flak for the girl against the locker incident. Since then, RM has gone out of his way to avoid misogyny in his lyrics and videos. He even has run song lyrics by a women's studies prof at the local university.

Actually this is a part of their ongoing storyline since 2015. But this is released in 2014, it have connections to their story (every music video is connected). They just portrayed 'highschool love' which is 'childish'. As you can see in this mv, they act like wild kids over a girl.

Fun fact: Tbh, that scene when Jimin and Jungkook were in the bathroom, while shooting that scene they didn't even mean that to happen it just happened and they both couldn't helped but to laugh at it and even Jungkook said It was weird that Jimin did that. XD I think they just included that for the laughing part. LOL and for the one who was spinning the Ball in his hand (Suga) no it didn't need to take a lot of takes to get that. Yeah, although I love this song and actually enjoy the video, BTS have addressed the issues with how they treated the girl. You're not gonna see them doing that anymore, as they've apologized for the way some of their earlier work was offensive to women, and they're really thoughtful about that now.

Even tho it was funny and I was dying at your reaction to the urinal scene. It’s true that Korea has different outlooks or whatnot. It’s not unusual for men to be affectionate with each other or express their feminine side. There’s sometimes a lot of skinship and they don’t mind looking at each other because most are confident in who they are and they know they’re not gay & things. Years ago, I had read an article by Dave Barry which detailed some of the rules of etiquette regarding urinals. I did not realize it was so complicated. He went on about "buffer urinals"; how a third party should not use a buffer urinal if possible (he may stall for time by pretending he is using the mirror); that if he must use the buffer urinal everyone will immediately make sure they look straight ahead... It was a whole new world, reading about that. Glad you did your part in that urinal PSA.

I understand the confusion about the way they acted around the girl... Western fans were all like 'yo, they cute... but they gotta chill a bit for real...' While most Korean/fans didn't think anything was wrong with it, and were going crazy about it how 'hot' it was. Since in Korean/Asian culture, a male being forward about his love and leading a girl, is seen as 'manly' and 'romantic'. It's even part of manga culture (Japanse comics), where a guy just slams his hand next to the head of a girl, and 'trap' her in which his body (like the locker scene). It's like saying 'hey, you caught my attention/I like you'. The actual tittle of the song is translated to 'Manly Man' or 'Real Man'. So in the lyrics they saying how they are feeling confused by this girl and are not sure she's into them, so they decide to confess and make their feelings clear. A lot of (Western/I-) ARMY's however have addressed feeling uncomfortable about how Big Hit portrait the boys in this MV before, same for some of their older lyrics. And after the feedback from fans and critics alike, BTS really started to educate themselves more about actual real violence woman and children are facing in this society. RM especially, he was really torn about the issue. He was spotted reading the 'Breaking Out of the Man Box' by Tony Porter. This got reflected into song like '21 Century Girl' and 'Not Today'. And now BTS are ambassadors of the Love Myself campaign since last year. They basically sponsor #ENDViolence, a UNICEF campaign based around making the world a safer place so that that children and teenagers will be able to live happy and healthy lives, without living in the fear of violence. Personally, I can't really watch the MV without cringing (same for the LA version, for different reasons lol). But I understand that at the time, it fitted with the story line and this 'wild boys' school theme they had going on. Still, I'm glad they are more aware of how there things can come across on a more global note. Sorry, long post. But I hoped it helped a bit.

This is one of my fav songs! 😂😂😂 Actually what the guys did to the girls, in Korean dramas and Japanese dramas it's kinda like a fantasy scenario. The guy is rough like grabbing her arm and pulling her towards him or him trapping her on the wall. It's a sexy scenario. It doesn't go further than that though. But it's in almost always in Asian dramas. That's why I love watching Kdramas, they're extremely innocent with a hint of sexy.
