This is a remake of the original song “Come Back Home” by the legendary group SeoTaeJi and Boys. This group basically birthed the modern day Kpop industry bc they came into the highly conservative Korean music industry and said “eff this! Eff your censorship! we finna dance and say what’s on our minds!” (No one really danced and rapped in Korea at that time nor did people sing the way that they did) Sparked a revolution that BTS has continued 😔✊️💜 SeoTaeJi actually asked BTS to remake this song for the group’s 25th anniversary (if I remember correctly)

The original singer is regarded as the father of kpop. Where it all started. This was an exciting era, before manufactured kpop took over. I guess taiji saw something in bts that is different & want bts to bring the scene back to the glorious origins.

Jin can come out and do a sustained falsetto like it’s easy even though it’s difficult for a man to sustain a falsetto. The whole vocal line has beautiful falsettos, but Jin really seems like he worked hard on his vocals so it can appear effortless. As everyone has told you, this is a cover of a song done by the father of kpop Seo Taiji and the Boys. The reason you hear some old school in it is the original was done in 1995, so it was updated some but it still kept it's original flavor. Seo Taiji chose BTS to perform with him during his 25th anniversary and passed the torch on to them. Seo Taiji used to make music with messages and he saw what BTS was doing and that's why they became his successors.

It was a huge honor for BTS to be asked by Seo Taiji to join him for his 25th anniversary concert -- he was basically passing the torch from his OG kpop/hip hop group to who he felt were his spiritual and musically successors. The performance is FIRE! You might really dig Seo Taiji and Boys, they were the originators of Kpop and had a very 90's light hip hop beat (but with a LOT of social commentary. They were considered VERY rebellious in their day!)

Comparing the two versions, I noticed the slight differentiation And similarities: the context And Answer to this! #That's my impression of this song compared to the original. # While the original version was made at a time when young people were running away from home because of School e excessive pressure from parents, the current version is for young people leaving the country because of the problem of finding jobs and housing (Social problems / pressure from society). While the former made it clear that it was better to go home, the latter says come back victorious! Because the problems of young people 25 years old only increased and today's young adults they still face problems, even after graduation!

They shut down part of the subway so they could do the show from there. I commented this on a different channel's reaction, but I think it bears repeating: Seo Taiji is considered the father of modern Kpop as well as the spiritual father of BTS. He pretty much dragged the South Korean music scene into its current embrace of hip hop, electronica and R&B along with all that entails (societal critiques/multiculturalism/individual artistic expression, etc.). This song along with several others that criticised the rigidity and conformity of South Korean society were huge hits and he literally inspired changes to the censorship laws at the time. It's impossible to overstate his influence on BTS, on Kpop & on South Korean popular culture as a whole. Gorey...thank you for this...I stated on another post...I was in Korea when Seo TaeJi debuted...and it is VERY important for people to understand how significant it really was...when you look at what was considered 'pop' music at that time...and here comes these boys with swag and something to say that goes against the grain...it was amazing/surreal. This song also was SO important...not just anyone did this song...so for Seo TaeJi to basically say only BTS can do it right...and to perform it with them...yes...he was acknowledging them. In many ways BTS fought a similar fight as Seo TaeJi did. (Just my 2 cents worth)

Original song was from 1995...I guess that's why many of us ,who where teens in the 90s or listen to that decade songs felt almost automatically attracted to it. Seo Taiji and Boys were the firt group to introduce rap in the korean music, they started a change with lyrics about social and political criticism in a time when goverment censorship of song was a daily practice. The fact that Seo Taiji asked BTS to cover this song, perform it on his 25th aniversary concert and calling them the Next Generarion and passing the torch to them ...it was a huge moment for BTS I love this song... I wish they will sing it again on a show.

They are doing the choreography from the original 1992 performance by Seo Taiji and Boys. There is a video of them learning it from him that's just so adorable. Watching Suga fanboy all over Seo Taiji is priceless. In 1992 it became the anthem for people trying to help runaways return to their parents in Korea, and it worked. Countless families were reunited because of this song. This is why BTS were crowned by Seo Taiji as his torch bearers. They are doing social commentary just like he did back in the '90s.

BTW, this song originally "Seo Taiji and Boys, come back home" song. It was meant to be for runaway teenager of that time. It was an issue and this song helped for many teens to go back home. BTS gave this song a cool vibe and with Suga's swag it's A+💜👏

It was only after Seo taiji that companies for kpop and all were formed, seo taiji also used to sing about the youth and rebelling against the norms, their music came into play shortly after Korean independence, during this period koreans only listened to healthy or patriotic music, which appealed to older generations. Seo Taiji voiced his music for the youth, endorsing individualism and freedom and asked the youth to go against the conservative norms, the practically created a new dressing sense and a whole generation followed them. Seo Taiji asked BTS to perform with him on his 25th anniversary because he sees BTS as his successors, the only people who truly stand for the messages he spoke about, the youth. Also this song was written for runaway teenagers and youngsters, asking them to reach back to their families.

This song by SeoTaeJi and Boys was for korean kids running away from home or having suicidal thoughts, telling them to COME BACK HOME. And I heard many of them did after listening to the song.

The original Come Back Home came out in the mid 90s and Seo Taiji and the Boys drew inspiration from Cypress Hill.

In Korea there is an artist by the name of Seo Taiji he’s considered the originator of what would later become Kpop. He (and his group Seo Taiji And The Boys) was the first artist to combine western style music (hiphop & rock) with the korean language and sensibilities. He’s considered a legend in Korea... think like if Run DMC & Aerosmith were one man basically. Come Back Home was a rework the boys made of one of his biggest hits for his 25 year anniversary album. The basic melody line, chorus and concept of the song are the same as the original, but BTS remixed it and wrote their own lyrics. SK has a really high number of youth runaways and suicides (a problem that existed even when Seo Taiji wrote the song originally). That’s what the song is addressing, overcoming self-doubt. Don’t give up, go back home.
