You got cyphered there! Hahaha Yes, they are nice to hear, I love the All Force One stage. Whenever (too much I know!) in your journey you get to RM mixtape (I mean the one named RM), you have to do that concert as follow up. The energy was all. And it stays 2015 till just now. You just experienced Hobipalooza, and Busan. They never get comfortable and lazy. The dedication is chef's kiss even when we tell them to slow down or that it's OK to rest. I may understand why many ARMYs specifically led you more towards cypher 2&3. Cypher 1: as it came out during their debut days, their skills in rapping still extremely raw and unrefined compared to today. It feels more like what cyphers were supposed to be. raw, honest, but it was made to show their skills and to make the album feel more "hiphop" Cypher 2&3: as they were both released during the period of time they were struggling as a group, you can feel their "rage" in them. both cyphers feel more like diss tracks aimed at specific targets (haters, prejudice, media, bad critics, etc). I think these tracks fuelled ARMYs even more and some could even relate through the lyrics. not to mention, complicated wordplays that you can dissect for DAYS Cypher 4: created post-rage period. they have become more mature at this point, and they are showing people that they will no longer deal all the hate against them with rage. while at the same time, they are flexing about where they are today (bigger than the haters) so they will focus more on loving themselves and taking it a stride than waste energy on haters

In cypher pt 2 I saw you guys were stuck on RM's line about thread and fabric. Where he referred to himself as a thread and his haters a fabric. You saw the later bits but didn't go back far enough. You saw where he mentioned the kite went up with no thread and got torn apart. So what he was also saying is that his haters are just fabric, they're bound to fly up alone and get torn apart. But he, RM, has his thread. So he can fly as high as he wants and never get destroyed. He's basically saying that RM is always grounded, tethered like a thread to so he will never lose himself or destroy himself. RM's thread are his family, his fans, his Bantan brothers, and his own self worth. Just thought you guys would like that little tidbit. Also in Cypher pt 2 you guys seemed confused at what Suga was saying. The line where he says "Your mischievous raps are just whining about your lives" is a little cloudy because some Korean culture was missing in the translation. Mischievous (gaegujin in Korean) is pronounced like gae- meaning dog or very but in Korean slang Gae is used as a prefix to many cuss words and gaegurin means stinky. So what Suga is really saying is "Your bullshit raps are just whining about your lives." Later when Suga is rapping and says "Anabada" in reference to the IMF debt crisis in Korea. He's saying that other rappers simply incur debt by reusing other rappers lyrics and have to pay it back with more shitty raps. But suga is modern day, his raps create worth for himself and others around him. Hope this helps clear some things up! Love you guys and love your videos. It’s basically an acronym for ways to save something. So first Suga says their rhymes are *F.S.B.A* and then goes on to spell it out: You use your flows and rhymes *frugally,* you *share* them, *borrow* them from other rappers, and use them *again.*

I love BTS so much! Hope the boys are doing well. Thank you for reacting! The boys have helped me overcome a lot since 2016 when I discovered them and just seeing them makes me smile now. These four tracks really validate me feeling a certain way about others opinions with how they discarded it with self belief and support from each other. As Min Yoongi had once said, “I’m glad we’re seven.” I’m really glad to have these 7 and the millions of armys as my support system too. Cyphers are the best example of how amazing lyricist and Musicians the three can be, the tongue mastering and the mixing and mastering of the tracks is some of the best I’ve ever heard and to think this music is some of their older ones still gives me goosebumps; showing their talent and potential. In my opinion, all three rappers bring something to the table. RM brings on his intelligence and details his verses with changes in cadence and flow while maintaining the intensity and switching between Korean and English like it’s no big deal without missing the beat and shows off his vocabulary, giving body to the track. J-hope brings in the heart to the song, breaks it down in such a way that’s not only pleasing to people who appreciate rap but also to those who have adhd like me and gets attracted to random repetitive sounds; all the while, again, not missing a beat, having mastery over the playfulness he can bring in a diss track (because it’s makes it even better) and having the uniqueness and style that only he can bring on the table. Meanwhile, Suga becomes the soul, literally the spirit that speaks the truth from within without a filter as he has every right to feel that way and damn, if the army doesn’t appreciate him portraying emotions through music. Agust-D comes in every once in a while with the brilliance of rap, mixture of cadence and thoughts everyone has felt but never put down in words, however, imagine the amount of emotions the hate would have caused to Min Yoongi for him to go so hard on them and rightfully so. Just makes me proud (I’m a psychologist) I just had my birthday on 21st and I just heard BTS for 7 hours while getting a tattoo. I’ve been waiting for a video drop from both of you. You really need to jump next into some of their comfort music like 2 3, plus the love myself: answer solo/unit songs. Lots of love and best wishes to both of you.

I guess Namjoon's memory bank/idea bank is his notebook (and of course, he's a literal genius). He mentioned in one of his vlive that he has a notebook where he writes random lyrics (or bars) that came to him in the moment so that when he has to write a song, he goes thru that notebook to find some lyrics that will suit the song that he's making.

A couple of notes: triptych is a piece a art in 3 parts that are each different but related to the other two parts. Thread vs. fabric: a piece of fabric is just flat, but with thread you can sew several pieces of fabric together make 3 dimensional clothing that is actually useful. Therefore fabric is useless without thread. The idiom about the running man and the flying man is in the lyrics of Run BTS. In Suga’s verse: the Anabada. After the 1997 financial crisis in Korea that was not unlike the market crash that led to the US’s Great Depression people were encouraged to recycle and reuse and buy things second hand to save money. Suga is saying that the other rappers reuse and recycle someone else’s flows, so they are following Anabada well.

I actual had a thought on the last line of cypher 2, “I draw the period onto the artery of your music career”. Jared had mentioned the artery maybe being the tongue for rappers. The tongue plays a crucial part in talking, or in this case rapping. What’s the one thing that a lot of people will point out about rappers? Their flow. And what does blood do? It flows. So Suga is not only stopping the flow of your blood (which can kill you) but even your musical flow (which ends your music career). **MIC DROP**

Watching premiere from WA state (not DC) been with you guys since almost the very beginning of your channel. I had listened to BTS a bit casually before you guys found them, but joining you on this journey has made me ARMY with you and I absolutely love them now. you missed a very clever bar by suga out in cypher 1 (timstamp 31:00). 'on the beat, i'm a Chopin' - Chopin is one of the most famous classic composer from france. He could easily say 'on the beat, i'm a mozart' but anybody knows mozart, to now chopin you have to be educated in (classic) music. So he shows that he is not only a genius with beats, he also has a deep knowlage about music in general (sidenote: he learned playing piano, so he might played classic music from chopin in his youth/childhood)

Yea okay so the cyphers are what would be considered a showing of jhopes growth as a rapper cuz if you pay attention jhopes tends to copy Suga's flow in the early albums (cuz rm and sug are the main ones teaching jhopes who taught him how to rap) then in hyyh albums you hear him find himself as a rapper. jhope is a slow rapper at his best. and he's more a sing song rapper too. Also suga and jhope do have similar sounding voices and they really been playing on that lates with songs like Film out (Japanese) and ON

Personally, Cypher pt 2 is my favorite cypher. When I was in college, I went thru a really bad mental health period and was extremely depressed, and I got into BTS and One Piece around the same time and they were the only things that made me happy. So you can imagine my excitement as a baby ARMY when RM, my bias, name-dropped Whitebeard and One Piece, and I had had no idea up until that moment that BTS were fans of anime! I’m not kidding when BTS and One Piece probably saved my life, and it was such a treat to hear that unexpected crossover. Also, another thing I love abt Cypher pt 2: Triptych is that its structure mimics its name. I love that you guys do your research, so please look up triptych on Wikipedia for a nice overview of the term with some examples! I studied a lot of medieval art in college, and triptychs were a pretty major form of religious art in the proto-Renaissance and Renaissance. A triptych is typically a 3-panel painting; each panel shows a different scene, and is contained by its own frame as well as the overall frame for the entire piece. Outside of art, a triptych refers to any set of three parts that make up a greater whole. How does this apply to Cypher pt 2? Well, Supreme Boi introduces the triptych, essentially giving the name of the piece. Then, J-Hope begins with the frame: “Because of who? Because of J-Hope. Because of who? Because of RM. Because of who? Because of Suga. All this style and trends are because of BTS.” I call this refrain from J-Hope the frame because he is literally outlining the whole structure of verses in order. I also interpret the frame as saying that while each rapper is individually great, and the rap line as a subgroup is great, BTS as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Next, J-Hope raps his verse, which is the first panel, and ends with “BTS, follow the leader,” which introduces RM’s verse/panel. The beat switches and RM gives his incredibly verbose and complex verse, then the beat switches back for J-Hope to give a refrain of his frame that is mostly the same, but ends with introducing Suga. Then the beat switches again for Suga’s incredibly fast and savage verse/panel, ending with laughter. Yes, J-Hope took a backseat in this cypher because RM and Suga were directly responding to B-Free’s nasty, targeted criticism of them, but he was still an integral part of this literal triptych. I know Cypher pt 3: Killer is a lot of ARMY’s favorite cypher, but Cypher pt 2 is my favorite because of the beats, savage lyrics, RM’s One Piece reference, the particular flows RM and Suga use in this cypher, and the actual triptych structure in the song. Also, RM’s whole verse absolutely builds on the Whitebeard scheme. Whitebeard was one of the four Pirate Emperors, and yes, was known as the strongest man in the world. He was also known as a father to his crew, and in the story, it was well-known that attacking one Whitebeard pirate or one of the islands under his protection would immediately get you a war with his entire crew (hundreds of members) plus all their allied crews. So, the kingdom and emperor lines could also be referring back to him, and again, RM has already said that he’s Whitebeard. Attacking just one member of BTS leads to you facing all of BTS and ARMY. Whitebeard’s name in Japanese is Shirohige, which can translate to White Mustache/Beard. Because One Piece is about pirates, his name is translated as Whitebeard (even tho he only has a white mustache) as a reference to Blackbeard. Edward Teach, the real pirate called Blackbeard, is split between two characters in One Piece between Edward Newgate aka Whitebeard, and Marshall D. Teach aka Blackbeard. Certain interpretations of lines in RM’s verse on doolset could also lean towards being other references to Whitebeard. Whitebeard has a white mustache; he is a literal emperor with whiskers, while his haters are just catfish. Whitebeard has the powers of the Gura Gura no mi, which is translated as the Tremor Tremor fruit. He can cause earthquakes, which he rarely does because it’s completely devastating, but when he does, he likes to strike the ground with his bisento, thus, BOOM BOOM BOOM, DOOM DOOM DOOM. Of course, that is also a reference to RM killing his haters with a bomb in this war, because that’s how powerful he is. In One Piece, characters have strange laughs, and often if they’ve eaten a Devil Fruit, their laugh actually mimics the onomatopoeia of their Devil Fruit’s name. Whitebeard ate the Gura Gura no mi, and his laugh is actually guraguragura; it could be a stretch, but therefore RM and Suga’s laughter at their haters is literally earth-shaking. There’s a couple other possible references to other things about Whitebeard, but I won’t mention them because those are big spoilers. Thus, I will end with one last analysis of this Whitebeard reference: in One Piece, there’s another character who shows up called Edward Weevil, and he claims that he’s Whitebeard’s actual biological son and he goes after the Whitebeard crew because he wants to claim all the power of being a son of Whitebeard for himself, and he doesn’t think Whitebeard’s whole crew of adopted children should have any of that power. Basically, there’s no proof he’s related to Whitebeard, and even though he might have some fighting skill, Edward Weevil is considered a joke in fandom and in-universe because he’s a fake. I would have to check to see whether Weevil had appeared in One Piece by the time Cypher pt 2 came out. If he wasn’t, then RM’s verse gained an unintentional extra layer to the Whitebeard reference; if he was, then RM probably was calling his haters Edward Weevil: they could have skill, but instead of working on their own abilities, they put all their time and energy into trying to attack BTS, who have actual skill and can prove it. Again, RM is Whitebeard, one of the four pirate Emperors, while his haters are Edward Weevil, they’re nobodies and catfish trying to gain power through BS methods, but we all know they’re jokes. I know this is a long ass comment that has probably too much unnecessary One Piece info, but I also wanted to point out that I’m pretty sure that when RM says “On the CD or the TV you can see me, it’s a pity, gee gee” it is actually supposed to be GG, like “good game, you tried” but really sarcastic! I hope you guys react to Hip Hop Lover/Hip Hop Phile soon! I can’t wait to see your reaction to the homage they pay to the greats and the genre of hip hop as a whole!

I think he means that his music career will bleed to death. 😩😩 If a main artery is damaged is very much possible you'll die. Chopin was praised for both his poetic genius in musical compositions and his professional technique on the piano.
