BTS weren't beefing with people, they were beefing with the media and entertainment industry. They came from a small entertainment company but was a threat, they made their own way with KZbin and Twitter, instead of relying on TV and the usual channels because they weren't given a chance. And now that they're big, the media and entertainment companies are so salty because they're not getting their share of the money. BigHit, BTS's company, has their own media company including animation company for their games, and Tiny Tan (an animation version of themselves), a magazine, their very own social media for live videos, sharing info, etc (weverse). Their very own variety show (so they don't need to go to other show to promote like people do). People who mistreated them in the business now lament how they should have treated them better. Even after they were nominated for the Grammys, some medias were still downgrading their achievements, saying that the duo/group nomination isn't one of the important nominations. It is insane.

There old stuff isn’t any better or worse than their new stuff, each album has been meaningful and important and marks a part of their personal growth as individuals and as idols. Their albums are like their collective diary of the past 7 years and the styles have changed and grown with them and their tastes and the meanings they are trying to portray. Many people will identify and prefer a particular sound over another depending on their taste in genre and what stories apply to them at their current time of life, but saying that their old stuff is better or their new stuff is better is putting the boys in the box they’ve refused to be trapped in from the very start and is disrespectful to their story.

It kinda confuses me when fans tell people new to bts that their old music is better because music taste is subjective. The music quality hasn't gone down either. Their old music I would say was mostly hip hop/EDM and had some rnb. Their newer music is is like a mix of all genres. I think the only thing they haven't done is like metal rock lol. There's nothing wrong with branching out and trying different music styles and bts is doing a great job so far. It's fine to prefer their old music if that's the genres of music you like best but I've noticed lately that some people are pushing this narrative that bts's music isn't as good anymore. I love their newer music especially BE. I think that album was so well done and meaningful.

Agree. Although pushing it, I would say some of their more "rock" tracks would be Fake Love, Dionysus, and Boy In Luv. Dope and Fire might be considered as well. And as for hard metal, I consider Ugh and Daechwita to be kind of "rap metal". So they have literally done it all lol.

BTS lyrics hit so hard because, they aren't really beefing with an individual person, and more so beefing with society in general. A lot of BTS' early songs like Dope or Baepse are basically millennial/young people anthems about how prior generations look down on the youth and see us as lazy or not trying even though we are trying so so so hard to make it in a broken society they left us that doesn't have any of the upsides it had when the boomers were younger. So i think that's why it always comes off so hard hitting and why we all get so hyped and swept up in it because we can all relate to the feeling of being mad at the boomers/society and BTS found a genius way to express that energy through entertainment.

When they first started out they got a lot of negativity and discouragement with people telling them they had no chance to make it as a group because they came from a small label and not from one of the 3 major music labels. RM's verse he says: "Given up on 3? Given up on 5?? I like the number 6. How about giving up on 6?" The older generations in Korea, as well as the Korean media, often refer to “Millennials” as the generation that has given up. It started out as having given up three things: courtship, marriage, and childbirth. Given up on five things means the previous three plus employment and home ownership. The seven things added means they had given up on relationships and even hope. That's why RM adds in his verse that he'll stop at 6 to say later "Can I get a little bit of hope?"

The lyrics at 7:29 are a reference to the N-Po Generation. It refers to millennials who have given up on many aspirations and needs due to their inability to live comfortably in the economic climate created by Baby Boomers. It started as the Sampo Generation, giving up 3 things (Usually dating, marriage, and having children). Over time O-po generation was added, meaning giving up 5 things (adding human relationships and owning a house to the previous list). And then finally Chil-po generation, giving up 7 things (adding having dreams and hope to the previous lists). Eventually they coined the term N-po to encompass all of them. BTS have often spoken out about this global issue of the older generations creating an economic climate that can feel nearly impossible for young people to navigate, and then ignoring that fact in favor of simply blaming the younger generations for just not trying hard enough to succeed.

"Dope" and "Bapsae" ("Silver Spoon) are the examples of songs in which BTS are talking about the struggles of their generation. And the fact that "Dope" and "Bapsae" are also the two songs in which they explicitly refer to the "three giving-up generation" and the "five giving-up generation" (in RM's solo) I think that this song while obviously talking about how hard they themselves have worked is also probably a commentary on how hard their generation is having to work. Based on that, I think they are intentionally reflecting various careers to give a nod to all the people who are working really, really hard in their careers while others are out partying. The "we" becomes more collective, then. "Those of us who are working our butts off while everyone else is partying ... we're awesome." "Bapsae" doesn't have MV, but the dance practice and live are great. The lyrics explanation by DKDKTV is also worth watching. Thanks for your reaction:-)

I love coming across different reaction channels and seeing people respect BTS. You don’t even have to love the song or MV, but you see how hard they work or understand the depth of their lyrics. It makes me so happy! I had a huge smile throughout this video. Thanks for the reaction.💜

Yes , you guys have reacted more to other groups and have also reacted multiple times to certain groups as well but hey to each their own right. Like I've said before their lyrics hold a message since their debut. Some ppl like the old BTS but like RM stated one time and im paraphrasing each album represented a stage in their lives starting from the school era up until now and ppl change and grow. This however doesnt take away the fact that their songs always bring a message. It would be great if you guys did more reactions to them but regardless when its the right time is when hopefully you'll get to experience the depth of their artistry. Thank you for the reaction and your time.

BTS is not a typical boyband, every song is connected each other since the beginning. We never know what to expect with a new Album, that makes them different, their music is not the same in each Album. Their lyrics are so deep and meaningful, they make phylosophical music, their videos are so meaningful that there are even explanation videos for them. They're much better live. You should absolutely react to WHO IS BTS SEVEN MEMBERS by XCeleste, FROM NOBODY TO LEGENDS 2019 by XCeleste the most inspirational video. THIS IS BTS INTRODUCTION TO BTS PART 1 by XCeleste. You'll be amazed to know who they really are. good reaction! 💜💜

I suggest you guys watch their performance on Jimmy Fallon's the Tonight Show! They had a BTS week - an entire week of BTS ugh can't get enough of it. They performed IDOL (Pop - better to watch a live performance), Home (Pop R&B - the performance on Jimmy Fallon was the MV we never got), Black Swan (I recommend watching the MV also for this, the music production is just a masterpiece) and ofc Dynamite! I am an ARMY but you don't have to be a fan of theirs to enjoy and appreciate their music. They're not even doing it for the money, it's just the icing on the cake. They just want to create music (yes they write and produce most of their songs) for their fans to relate to and do what they love. Such genuine, talented and kind hearted people. What a blessing!

Omg, I had to comment on this. I stumbled upon you because I’ve been going down the BTS rabbit hole for the past month. I’m 54 and have been having the time of my life with this. I’m a music freak and I love dance. Best feeling. The first time I heard Dope and RM rapping like that, I had the same reaction. Love you guys💜

This song was written at the time when BTS were being accused (on social media) of plagiarism, of copying other groups' style and dress, etc. They were not well known in Korea and when they won the rookie of the year award, other fandoms swooped on them. You'll discover more about their background and where they came from as you go along. ARMYs are always telling newcomers to check out certain BTS documentary videos, like BTS: from nobodies to legends. When you're ready.

Dont mind the whole "new bts" "old bts" debate. There are newer songs of bts that you guys already like(singularity fake love life goes on) and alot more that you might like too. And there are older songs that you probably will rock with too. They also have many many bsides without music videos in all their albums that are tracks you might rock with
@CheerUp23 жыл бұрын
I would say the reason they like those newer songs is because it sounds like there older stuff. Like the new stuff on there albums are actually good because I listen to and i'm like yup "this is classic BTS" and it transports me to 2013-2015. True BTS at the very core, has very specific sound, its hard to describe but recently they have been losing it alittle bit by bit but ive been seeing a few songs that have there flavor (such as Dis-ease) that gives me hope! But I can tell every song that they have liked has that older BTS flair
@leenam82813 жыл бұрын
@@CheerUp2 I definitely get where your coming from. After i need you they began having more pop style tracks and using more genres. But because of the fact that they still had alot of rnb and hiphop style music in their albums , I never really felt the difference. Bar the be album where they did have more pop than usual. But still, just look at the last album Map of the soul 7. Intro Persona, Dionysus, Shadow, black swan, my time, louder than bombs, on, ugh and respect. All these songs fit that style Sadly for now its hard to show lc and fredo any of these tracks for now cause they are focusing on tracks with mvs

When BTS first debuted everyone said they would never succeed, they looked down on them so much that in the beginning they didn’t get their on dressing room so they had to use curtains to change. RM and Suga aka Agust D used to be underground rappers and once the left the underground rapping they both got so much hate. Cypher 1-4 are all a dis-track for an underground rapper named B-Free. B-Free constantly called them out for leaving the underground rapping to become kpop idols, B-Free also said that they could have continued the underground rapping but they couldn’t resist the temptation of money. Suga came from a poor family and said that he would write lyrics and sell them to make money but people never payed a lot. Suga’s parents didn’t support his music career so they would burn his music so he would focus in school. A few years later his parents showed up to his concert to show that they finally approve his music career and he kneeled down and started to cry. In 2014 BTS was going to disband of the lack of money, they could barely afford to make m.v.’s or to buy food for all seven members. Till this day BTS still receive hate but they always respond back in by dissing them in their lyrics. SO YEAH THATS A BIT OF THEIR BACKGROUND

Just a fan since 2018 here.. wanted to say that some fans can relate to their older music and might have a preference towards it, but to me they’ve grown and expanded. If they stuck to the same sound they wouldn’t be BTS.. they’re always trying different concepts and the lyrical content has been there from the jump. A lot of the time their B sides and solo project show more of their versatility! Just an opinion. Thank you for reacting to them and seeing their talent. 🤍 PS: As someone who gravitates more towards their R&B sound, I think it’s only right to recommend My Time, Paradise, Home, and Love Is Not Over. 👌🏽

Hello. Thanks for your reactions. I can see that you remember the music of the BTS songs you reacted to, which means you genuinely appreciate their songs. If you want some masterpieces of BTS (different genres) here's a list: 1. Blood Sweat and Tears (probably the most complex song and MV they have but my fav) 2. I need u (the beginning of the story of the Bangtan Universe) 3. Baepsae (watch the explanation video by DKDKTV to understand the lyrics, as it is one of their best social critiques) 4. Ddaeng (same as above) 5. House of cards (a slow jazzy song, truly amazing) 6. ON (you will definitely love this one: watch its two videos, the MV and the Kinetic Manifesto) 7. Black Swan (watch the original MV, not the dance school version, and maybe also if you want to their appearance in the late late show by James Corden-a true masterpiece)

What I like about their lyrics is that it is "bubble gum". Despite being so young, their lyrics are thoughtful and meaningful. I also like that their songs fall under different genres. If you don't like one song, or it isn't in your taste, they'll have one that is. Basically BTS doesn't fit in a box.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your reaction and sharing a little bit about yourselves. 💜 My favorite motivation/fight song from BTS is "Not Today". They include a quote from Dr. ML King Jr in their lyrics. “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

Fun Fact In kpop groups belong to companies and COMING from a big company basically guarantees you success. Unfortunately if a group comes from a small unknown company you basically guaranteed to fail. BTS came from a small company and had to work twice as hard as groups that came from big companies. They are a true testament to what hard work and passion can do which is what captures everyone hearts. They went from no one's to KINGS of the world. ATEEZ are The new underdogs in kpop from a small company that are working their asses off against big company groups. I don't know what it is but I love supporting the underdogs and watching them go against all odds and reaching the top. It teaches me and gives me hope that with hard work, good ethics and a dream anything is possible.

I love that you're asking him how he is doing both (watching and reading the lyrics). This makes me laugh so hard because I'm just sitting here thinking now I know reading all those subtitles from anime really trained me to watch BTS videos. The only thing I can suggest is start off with reading and kind of watch the video peripherally. There's also nothing wrong with going back and repeating things in case you missed something, or just if you want to focus on one thing at a time. You can even watch just a lyric video for the songs as well if you would like to focus on just what it is saying. I personally like to watch the video and then the lyrics because once you know what is being said the entire performance can hit differently. This also applies to live performances as well, those also hit differently.
