BTS - "Dynamite" Reaction: FIRST TIME HEARING Kpop

Let me share some background about Dynamite. BTS had a world tour planned for 2020 after they released their album Map of the Soul: 7 in February and after the tour they were supposed to do solo music and complete their mandatory military service (like what they are doing now). Well the pandemic happened and the entire tour was postponed and eventually cancelled. BTS decided to release Dynamite as a song to spread good vibes during a very difficult time for everyone. They also made an album called BE during the pandemic too which shares their emotions during the pandemic. Dynamite was BTS first fully English song after being a group for 7 years and it was huge. It broke the record of the most viewed music video in 24 hours on youtube with 101.1 million views, got BTS the first number 1 song on the billboard hot 100 chart, and earned BTS their first Grammy nomination. Some people have mixed feelings about Dynamite because it's a fun and enjoyable song but compared to their Korean songs it's a bit lackluster and doesn't really show what BTS are capable of as a group in terms of songwriting (BTS didn't write Dynamite) and performance because the choreography is pretty simple compared to their other choreographies. Plus it's a very upbeat and poppy song so a lot of people who heard Dynamite as their first BTS song think all their songs sound just like that one when obviously BTS do a wind range of genres. Anyways thanks for the reaction and I can't wait to see more.

Thank you for the detailed backstory regarding this one! I could see fans wishing the world had been shown a different one that really showcased the extent of their talent, but honestly I think this one is still an impressive introduction, and might intrigue someone who is hesitant to listen to music with lyrics in a different language. I didn't realize BTS didn't write this song, but either way I think I actually really like the lyrics and message as well!

@@Bite-SizeReactions my husband doesn't like happy pop songs, for example he hates The Beatles because he says that they are too happy, but whenever he listens to Dynamite, he says "what a good song". Also, even when I am a 43 years old Literature teacher and I am am ARMY because I'm in love with the complex, meaningful universe behind the songs, because I love how they play with words and with concepts, with the diverse arts (and their periods, and their origins) and the so many layers that you can find in most of their productions, being Dynamite one of the exceptions... Even when that's why I appreciate, thank and root for them, Dynamite was the song that helped me to face the world behind my mask when, during the looong quarantine in Buenos Aires, I had to go out to buy and etc. Another kind of virus, a contagious joy, hope, togetherness, started to sing inside my mind while I saw everything so grey and sad. So, even when it's true what the ARMY Crystalsnow said, Dynamite is an important song for the band, and for lots and lots of people. (Sorry for my English, it's not my language)

Dynamite!! Changed the world I swear haha. 3 years ago when it came out and broke so many records I was so happy and proud of BTS. That member whose vibes you liked was Kim Taehyung aka V. I'm curious as to what version of On you reacted to! Kinetic Manifesto or the other cinematic mv. Either way I'm excited to watch that when it comes out on KZbin. Thanks for making this video. BTS released this in 2020, deep in the pandemic, to cheer people up. So your feeling for the song is exactly what they were going for. Please, please, please watch the official B side MV as well. It has loads of bloopers in the filming and really highlights just how goofy these guys are. The set was built especially, lots of green screen, because they couldn't go anywhere in the pandemic.

I’m so happy you love this song! It was written to uplift spirits during the pandemic, but their English songs get a lot of shade. Which I don’t understand! Why they can’t have English songs as much as they have Japanese songs. Just doesn’t make any sense to me. People saying that their English songs aren’t deep enough. That’s hogwash. These songs did what they were intended to do. And that was globally uplift listeners! You can’t not smile while hearing this song and watching their performances of it!! BTS does everything with intent. They do not phone in anything! Dynamite has so many little subtle nods to the 70’s, Michael Jackson, and more!! Thank you for your enjoyable reaction!!!!

That's really cool they wrote this to bring a little joy during the pandemic, and I 100% disagree with people saying the "English songs" don't have a rich meaning, to me BTS has consistently had a deeper message in every song I've reacted to so far, even if some are more nuanced than others perhaps

They do bounce about and slip you something heavy while still being lighthearted. That's V, whom you like, real name Taehyung. This song does make you smile like a nut from We Happy Few only you mean it ahaha. And they are humble and so sweet. The leader RM took a trip to this exotic destination and rather than eat in some high-end restaurant, he ate dry ramen on a bench with the seasoning like a college student. They like simple things while still enjoying interests that's not easily obtained. You should their funny videos, your cheeks will hurt. But not the chaotic in America one, not funny. Can I recommend a reaction to Not Today MV?

I know a lot of Armys diss this song for it's lack of meaning but it has a very deep meaning to me. I found Dynamite and fell down the rabbit hole during the most difficult time in my life. My dad was dying and listening to this song everyday on the way to the hospital gave be hope that good times and happiness would come again. For me, it will always have the most special of places in my heart and will always remind me that I found BTS when I needed them the most. 💜
