This is just a theory,but here is who I think the boys represent in the book: Jin- Emil Sinclair-the main character. It's obvious that Jin is between the worlds(the white and black door frame) Taehyung-Max Demian-a little obvious. Hermann Hesse picks names really well. Demian comes from the Latin word Daemon(demon),and,well,we saw that Tae is a fallen angel. He also navigates Jin(Sinclair) in choosing good or bad. Yoongi-Pistorius-another kinda obvious. Pistorius is leading young Emil after Demian's disappearance,just like he's mentoring Jimin in MV(I'll get to that in a sec). He's also playing the ORGAN,a Passacaglia by Buxtehude,mentioned in the novel. Namjoon-I'm not so sure about this one,but I think he represents Alfons Beck with the Absinthe(a European drink that makes you hallucinate) since Alfons and Emil do underage drinking. He also seems to be a generally bad influence. Hoseok- Frau Eva-Notice how he tries to get between Tae(Demian) and Jin(Sinclair)? It can show how Frau Eva wishes she could mentor Sinclair instead of Demian. Jungkook-Beatrice-Another one I'm not so sure about,but it would explain some things. Beatrice is a mysterious character. She represents the _Anima_ part of the psyche(Map of the soul anybody? Jungian psychology? Hermann Hesse and Carl G. Jung were close friends). Jimin-Young Emil-this one is easy. The apples,in "Demian",Sinclair lies to his friends about stealing apples. ALSO-the statue Jin kissed,it's a Daemon,also In the book Sinclair and Demian kiss in the end. This is all I got. I'm exhausted,correct me if I'm wrong and please share your thoughts!

I mostly agree with you and imo jungkook might also be a young Emil like jimin, since he was the one to paint that painting, cried when it was destroyed by rain and set it on fire. I totally was thinking the same thing about Taehyung being Demian but I didn't understand why would Jin (Emil) hit Taehyung (Demian) in BST Japanese version, so there was a small part of me that thought that maybe Tae kind of resemble the bad side of Sinclair, and Jin as Sinclair was trying to stop him from sinning. But I still think that it's more possible that Taehyung is Demian. Another think I thought was that Namjoon was Demian, because of the part when Jin said to him "long time no see" in bst japanese ver. And I was wondering if Taehyung was Demian, why when he was arrested he asked for one call and called Namjoon, cause in Stigma he asked for one call and in Reflection Namjoon couldn't answer the ringing phone cause it was locked. That's why I thought Namjoon was Demian and Taehyung was the bad side of Sinclair. At this point I'm only sure of Jin and Jimin, being Sinclair. Excuse me my bad and English and ofc I wasn't trying to proof your theory wrong, just to share my opinion. And let me know what you think of my thoughts i find wings era extremely interesting so I like to read about it more. :))))

I'm reading this book right now. Imo It's not a question of who is who in the book. It's about growing up to be your own person and how you see yourself. Your interpretation of your story..There is the one we tell others and the one we trll ourselves. That interpretation even changes as we do until we stop learning and growing in knowledge and wisdom about ourselves and the world around us. And even then a young person may think they have that all figured out but in fact they are still in the that process whether they know it or not. And usually as we grow older we realize we know even less than we thought we did years ago. Peehaps, to be abel to say to yourself, when I was young I thought I knew so many answers about life and about myself but now I have more questions to much to reflect on, is a significant sign that you know yourself and the world around you and the true hallmark of someone who has grown wise.

If you like Hesse, you should read a bit of Rainer Maria Rilke. He is mostly a poet but authored one book I am familiar with "Letters to a Young Poet" which is so beautifully written and speaks to surviving in this world when you are sensitive and/or different. His poems "The Man Watching" and "Widening Circles" are favorites of mine. He was Austrian so, unless you are fluent in German, you will find quite different translations of some pieces and some are more eloquent that others. If you try him, hope you like him.

La verdad me gusta mucho que pongas estas partes de los videos del album con la comparacion del libro porque me hace ver lo que en verdad pienso sobre este album que llama la atencion de las personas al hacernos pensar en como nos aferramos a la maldad o como somos en verdad, lo siento si tengo una idea erronia :)

Can any1 explain to me whats the story behind jimin's lie mv ?and what's the relation between "lie" mv and "demian" book ?i want a real explaining , not just a theory (sorry for the bad English)

Samira Mis I cant fully explain but I think the apples represent those of mentioned in the book that Sinclair lied about stealing them

So I think Jimin represents the main character. The main character in the book had wanted to seem cool to his group of friends so he said he had stolen apples from an orchard. The leader of the group, Kromar, had blackmailed him saying he’d turn the poor boy in if he didn’t give him a certain amount of money. In the story the boy (10 years old) struggles between keeping the image his family holds, and the one he has when he leaves his home. I think Jimin when biting into the apple seems innocent, but the smirk indicates there are more horrible things going on beneath the surface.

Hi im actually realy late but i think the book makes the reference to how Eva was tempted by the apple and for it banned from paradise. So you could take the apple as the ultimate temptation into a "darker" wolrd

I think jimin represents the transition between two of the arquetipes of Carl Jung:"persona" that is clearly represented in jungkook, as the Sinclair who only knew his family and did things morally correct...and the Sinclair who changes as the story goes on and tries to deal with the outer world , "shadow" that is represented by Tae. Jimin, in fact, is the transition between this two Sinclairs. Then, in one of the chapters Kromer appears, he is Sinclair's bully that constantly tortures him. I think the relation between the jimin's clip and the book is that, the mechanical hand showing the cards, might be Kromer, the camera is the pressure he (Emil) receives and finally Jimin as one of the stages in Jin's life (remember that the main character or the equivalent of Sinclair here is Jin, and the other members are the stages or arquetipes). in this chapter where he meets kromer, Emil has to LIE, to pretend he is a cool guy or to escape from his bully. He lies saying he stealed some APPLES, so in this clip this things are showed. Maybe they try to explain that part of the story where Sinclair tastes what is like to do bad things such as lying or swearing in the name of God.
