Let's understand what BTS' main message was in this mv. They are responding to people who want them to be more "K-pop" and less western, as well as people who want the to become more westernized. K-pop is stereo typically characterized by too many people, bright colors, and fast paced changes. This is what BTS did with IDOL to show people they won't be westernized but at the same time basically told hardcore K-pop fans that "you want K-pop? Here eat you heart out."

I’m very proud of them for standing strong all these year and standing up for themselves even when they struggled and doubted who they were in their personal lives. Actuallya lot of the things displayed throughout the video involve different references to African culture as well, hence the beats mixed into the song, the dances, the bright colors, and the patterns on their clothing. As well as a lot of the animals displayed on the screen, a lot of the animals being ones that are found in Africa, and also even at 3:32 when Joon is rapping next to the two figure heads, both displaying two types of traditionally African hair textures. So there is definitely more to it than just the initial things you pointed out. But I do agree it’s definitely not the “typical” kpop song, it’s amazing!!!

And also we can see that there is a jungle and and the ocean , so basically they say that they are watched and attacked by sharks but the biggest threat is their ego so that's why we see big bangtan (attack on bagtan😂) and another thing that i find cute is that V said in a show that he believe that there are rabbits in the moon so they edited a rabbit in it in the MV , so BTS called their title song IDOL , making it's MV extremly weird and colourful in purpose bcs people always say that kpop videos are too weird and colourful and that they make no sense !! let the theories commence. (This is gonna be long. so for anyone who comments saying "Bitch why would I read all that?!" I warned you ahead of time.) Okay so a few things ive noticed. First.... Jins line “im in love with my-myself.” That is perfect lmao. The animals. Lots of animals. And scenes where they are performing in caged areas. Symbol of people treating idols like they’re animals in a zoo strictly for entertainment? Theres lots of repetition (as in the copies of them literally everywhere) perhaps representing the number of times they have to perform the same dance perfectly? The faces. Oof the faces. Maybe represents the faces they have to show to the camera/industry? The boat and the globe on the table. Traveling the world. The unicorns. Either has to do with following trends or the fact that they’re mythical creatures. There’s a green one and a red one. Green=good/positive red=bad/negative. The wavy blow up seaweed dance thing. People making fun of their dances or comparing their abilities to eachother. ie when people compare namjoon to one of the wacky arm flaily things or compare his abilities to J-hope to criticize him. The picture frames with the drawings. Maybe the fact that they never receive fair judgment. People either see everything they do as being perfect and flawless even when they (BTS) know its not great, or they only see their flaws and mistakes. People forget that they’re human beings. (Hence them being in the frame aswell). I haven't figured out the mannequins except for their sole purpose to be freaking out jenny(Mt friend who's terrified of mannequins) lmao. No that probably ties in to the people seeing them as art. Art is subjective. The traditional asian stuff(Forgive me for the very generic white girl way of calling it as i don't remember what it's called at this moment) probably has to do with the typical stereotypes. Then theres kook smirking in front of the word 사랑. And the ending is the chairs with the end of airplane pt 2 pose that Kookie does. I actually really love everything about this comeback. After analyzing it beyond what seems like randomness, i love the mv. It has a great message. And the words put everything together. That at the end of the day, all that matters is that they love themselves and they cant let anyone change that. If they loose that they will lose themselves.
