They actually hid a third meaning of tear in the song: Suga says T.E.A.R. which is a coping mechanism for loss: T - To accept the reality of the loss E - Experience the pain of the loss A - Adjust to the new environment without the lost person R - Reinvest in the new reality They are lyrical kings indeed! 💜

I don't know if the synopsis you read mentioned it but as you can see in the chorus "you're my tear" is repeated twice, first by Namjoon and then by Yoongi, and then Hobi sings "you're my fear". First off all if you notice this is the order in which they rap their solo verses. So if you go and read their individual lyrics properly, you will notice how Joon is rapping about 'tear' aka crying because of heartbreak, Yoongi is talking about 'tear' as in tearing your heart apart and Hobi is talking about his fear of their breakup. So they each take up the 'tear' 'tear' and 'fear' part and the chorus represents it. Also y'all have no idea just how you are missing the bigger picture of BTS' music/albums since you are just new. Yes this song is about their disbandment but in the story arc of love yourself it was about when the writer finally reaches their breaking point and decides to finally end their relationship and is going through intense heartbreak. Also I hope Daniel and Gabriel go listen to the studio version of this song asap. In the studio version you will hear the production much better and you will realize just how insane it is. It's one of the best produced song I have heard. Never thought I would hear strings in a rap song. Y'all are gonna love the production of this song.

All of the Rapline has incredible lyricism but this is just one of many tracks that exemplifies why I love Yoongi’s lyricism so much. His bluntness, his willingness to be brutally honest in his lyrics just hits me right in the chest every time. It really doesn’t matter what track, solo or BTS, he’s just got this “non-eloquent eloquence” that gets to me every time. That level of vulnerability is so astounding to me, esp bc of his personality and him being rather quiet and soft spoken irl. He clearly uses his music as a way to vent his true opinions abt his pain, experiences, and more.

*BTS rapline is best in the industry, argue with the wall🗿🚶♀️* *Let me briefly explain BTS rapline to y'all!* *RM* is a poet. You can not change my mind. His lyricism reads, sounds and works like poetry: a few words have multiple meanings and derivate in multiple chains of thought. Every time you listen to them, you discover new details, new ideas, new insights. Even when he's being straightforward, there's still some some philosophy or revelation or a big question or an aesthetic behind them. A poem is full of passion, but every word is chosen carefully, with intention. They're puzzle pieces, every piece has a place to create the full picture. It's a form of ART. WORDS WITH INTENTION. *Suga's* lyricism is like "an arrow straight to the heart": you immediately understand the emotion he's trying to convey, you don't need to even know what he's saying to know "what you're supposed to FEEL". What he says is always interesting too, and it has layers too, but, from the first listen.... You usually feel that same way after listening to his song 1000 times. Even when the song is sociopolitical or when it displays an idea, your first impression is a STAB OF EMOTION forever tattooed in your memory. *J HOPE's* lyricism is like a playground, an amusement park. A place where magical things happen, where you are encouraged to bend the rules. It's full of bright primal colors, you walk around with bounce in your steps and inevitably feel the childlike impulse of starting to dance around, or start imitating his onomatopoeias and alibis. There's a quirky creativity in his choice of analogies and a pure-hearted kindness in his message. Even when he expresses anger or sadness, there's this sense of DYNAMIC RHYTHM that is always moving, always unpredictable and ALIVE. *EDIT: Some examples to illustrate my description:* *RM:* - "From the time everyone is born / Life is more beautiful because it uses death as the collateral payment." (Life) -"I grew a flower that can't be bloomed / In a dream that can't come true." (FAKE LOVE) -"Why do you keep trying to hide under your mask, / when even the scars made by your own mistakes mark your constellations." (Answer: Love Myself.) *SUGA:* - "If you think you're gonna crash, accelerate even harder, you idiot" (Intro: Nevermind) "Hip hop came to me gently / Like a little child looks for his mother, /it naturally permeated into my life (...) If loving this culture was a sin, would have died hundreds of times." (Hip Hop Phile) - 'To be honest, I miss you, but I'll erase you now / Because doing so hurts me less than resenting(blaming) you" (Spring Day) *J HOPE:* The standard of happiness is you, and you walk that path / I wish to fill up faith / Like a piece of cake that is simple and filling (...) I wish, could be a Piece Of Peace." (P.O.P) "Oh, I'm on top of the beat beat, wiggle wiggling. jingle jingling/roll rolling, beagle beagling (...) This is just for tasting, still a snack / My rap is a Korean meal that fills your stomach." (Cypher pt. 3) "My sin, the dog that bites and tears my resting self/ "Don't do that," although shout it out, every day I'm hung up on accomplishments." (Dis-ease) -"It's just that for once I want to draw a different picture of my life / A canvas dream // Beyond the boundary over there, let's feel it / Like the hole Alice fell into, like the path leading to Hogwarts, it'll be a world of mirages (Daydream)

But I understand that you may have missed my comment between the hundreds of comments 😀 But I'm still glad you still caught up some of the beautiful and heartbreaking lyrics! You were a bit wrong about interpreting the line "that dream has finally become a dream" - it meant that the dream they were dreaming had become nothing more but a dream, since they were thinking of disbanding and therefore will not make that dream a reality. Also I believe many comments will tell you but the fact is that they decided of staying together mainly (as I have understood) because they listened to this song and cried all together. They understood they can't disband.. And btw the main reason they were thinking of disbanding was because they were gotten so big, also in US.. They (or at least some of them) were afraid of the reality of fame. They never thought they would get so big. (if I'm not correct, please correct me someone!)

What I have noticed from your Patreon polls is that they are predominantly vocal line, maknae line bias'. That you don't see the raplines true talent and what they are capable of because of it. It was extremely apparent during Jhope's birthday week. I hope to see more videos where you explore on your own and not just from the Patreon polls. I love all of BTS but they are more than the vocal line and that's what makes them so amazing is the seven of their talents coming together.

To be fair, and also adding for more references, KZbin's polling is recommended though it has a limit. Regarding the preferences - the Maknae line - I believe it also happens here on KZbin most of the times. They're most wanted for doing reactions. For me, it's kinda sad because as if other members were neglected. I only hope for the (new) reactors of BTS in the future that once they knew BTS consists of Rap (R)line and Vocal (V) line, they'd manage the formula "V-R-V-R-V-R-V" into their reactions - either as a group or solos - so they'd get the whole pictures of BTS, not only just based on 'the most wanted' one.

no there aren't only "performing" lines :) we just use the term "line" to group some members together. so for example, there are actually age lines like hyung line (jin, yoongi, hobi, namjoon) and maknae line (jimin, tae, jk), 95z line (jimin and tae both born in '95) and 94z line (hobi and namjoon both born in '94) but there is also the kim line (jin, namjoon, tae) because their last names are all kim. there are so many other lines that basically just group some members together usually for fun like on run bts and other variety shows. but as for performing line, usually it's just divided into rap line, vocal line, dance line. although, there have been times where the members themselves refer to subunits as lines, like jin/hobi/jk are jamais vu line because they have a song called jamais vu, and etc etc. you could honestly make up your own line depending on who you wanna group together. the most common among armys is "bias line" which speaks for itself lol (mine is jimin, jin, hobi, tae). i hope that helped! :)

Tear was produced by Docskim and each rap member wrote their own lyrics. Shin Myung Soo also has a credit in it as composer. Suga contributed to the melody, and I think that he wrote his part first and set the tone for the song. This song concludes the second album of the Love Yourself trilogy, which deals with the heartbreak of love before the realization that you can't love others if you don't love yourself.

At that point BTS were criticised for breathing. People were saying things like, “Oh, they’re not Korean enough”, “they’re forgetting their roots”, “they don’t sing enough in english”, “they don’t sing enough in Korean”, “they’re becoming too POP”, “oh they didn’t talk about this tragedy”, “oh they’re talking about this other tragedy for publicity”, they couldn’t do anything right and it was hate from Korea and from the western, it’s incredible how Korean media don’t talk about BTS’s success. Recently, instead of being like “BTS Grammy nominees” they wrote pages of “BTS failed to win a Grammy 3 years in a row”. They were TIRED in 2018, they just wanted to move to the mountains and leave everything lmao. They were mentally done and also physically exhausted, people forget that they’re not the type of act to just stand on stage, their bodies go through so much, plus they don’t half ass anything.

I’m 54 and have NEVER been a fan of rap music. In July of 2021 after an upheaval of my home life, BTS found me, after my daughter had tried for YEARS to get me to pay attention because she knew I would love them. I dove into their music head first and wrote on Facebook that you know your music taste has changed when you’re actively seeking out Korean rap music. I love this song and I love those boys. 💜

They wrote the song when they felt that becoming really successful scared the hell out of them. Fame came with a price. Time, energy, freedom, & so many other things they have to give up to live as BTS. So they gave a thought if they gonna continue or not. But after they thought & talk about it, they agreed to still continue as BTS & rather than resenting the negative sides, they try to accept & live with the "shadow" they got. This is why their next albums (Persona, 7) had this theme of realizing & deciding to cope with their inner struggles..

The funny thing is that at first you may think that this song is about a love story between 2 people, but as Suga (songwriter of this song) said while ago this song is about music, the hate and love towards music in one of the most difficult times for them, when they were thinking to disband… I love this song!

THANK YOUUUU 🥺💜 Yes, the rapline is fast. Maybe check out the lyrics first before reacting. I understand about the polls and I'm thankful to your admins to hear about our concerns. The rapline is the heart of BTS and I'm so happy you finally reacted to them. Outro tear is my fav rapline song and I cried so hard when Jin made the award speech that is related to this song. You have to watch this award speech one day. I can't explain how many emotions I feel watching this live performance. And Dior Jhope will be forever iconic and beautiful. I can't believe people called him and RM ugly. The huge amount of kickoutjhope hashtag he received once still hurt me. And of course every other bad comment every member receives. But what hurt me the most are the hardcore shippers and hardcore solo stans. Especially with our 3 lovely maeknes. They don't need that and are all 3 special in different ways.

This song means a lot to us and bts. It was written when bts were having a very hard time and were on the verge of disbanding. The rapline wrote it thinking about the members. They killed it But also it is very sad and intense The lyrics oh my God THE BEST RAPLINE

I was never into hiphop and rap but BTS changed that for me and gave me a new appreciation for the power and strength, emotion, and cleverness that this genre involves. I realised that what I didn't like about other rap/hiphop was just the attitudes in the lyrics and lack of insight and not the genre itself

I'm sure hundreds of people will tell you to watch their 10 minute acceptance speech for Artist of the Year at 2018 MMA Awards as it gives great insight to that time in their trajectory (it's the scene from the Taylor documentary when they're all balling their eyes out). They were emotionally & physically exhausted and under huge pressure when they broke through in the U.S. market and became much bigger globally than they ever imagined. Also, supposedly KPop contracts are usually for 7 years so 2018 was the point at which they all needed to decide whether to re-sign for another 7 years (which they did). But the other video that will give you tremendous insight into their journey & their struggles is their 2022 Festa dinner talk where they announced they were taking a break to pursue solo interests, to get more time off & to do their military service. In true BTS fashion lots of laughs & lots of tears and a clear picture of how incredibly different they are from one another but how they've built such a brotherhood. It's long - about an hour, but well worth the time. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6WTmn1te8Seb7M

😭💔 it brakes my heart every time! I never listened to rap (except a few of Eminem) before I ran into BTS and Black Swan. It definitely has to do with the lyrics for me, but I've also learned to appreciate all of it and learned a lot by watching reactors who explained rap really good for someone like me 😁 I can't say who my favorite from rapline is though, they are sooo good individually 💜💜💜 Sometimes it's RM's lyrics, voice and flow, sometimes it's Suga's metalish way of rapping and sometimes J-hope tears at my heartstrings with the way he sometimes sounds like almost crying. Oh what the heck, they're all three so amazing 🥰🥰🥰

Thank you for considering reacting to this song 🙏 We must not forget that BTS was originally a hiphop group. It's also what sets them apart from other Kpop groups. So the rapline is like the backbone of the group when it comes to their music. It's always good to take time to appreciate these lyrical geniuses 💜 Honestly, I got to BTS because of the hip-hop genre. I'm more on the hiphop side of music. But their hip-hop lyrics are more admirable because of the message behind them. It's not just about smoking pot, partying, girls etc. It's about their story, their feelings, how they want to inspire the people in their era. And that's what Bang PD has always taught them to do. 💜 But even if I'm more on hiphop music, JIN is my ULTIMATE BIAS because of his personality. Then I learned to appreciate his vocal skills, the vocal line's talents, how they all can write and produce songs too. Just everything. Because I love BTS. So I learned, I got interested and I fell in love. 💜 Therefore I hope, even if you guys say you're not into rap songs, would still learn to love it and the rapline, appreciate it more and have them into your system, if you really love Bangtan 💜 Lastly, the "line" thingy were just used to refer mostly to usual categories. Rap line, vocal line, dance line, hyung line, maknae line, visual line (actually there's just two visuals, Jin and V). Just that, it's not something mandatory really 🤭 Thank you again and happy weekend everyone, borahaeeee CCW! 🥰💜

Guys in case it hasn’t been said, they have ALWAYS loved each other. The reason they were even contemplating disbanding was because they were soo scared at how high they reached - beyond their dreams. Paving the way and walking on a road that no one before them had walked on. They had to do it all first and they got soooo much hate. They were very scared. Their love and trust for one another is what kept them together. It’s not because they hated each other that they thought about disbanding so I hope you don’t get that impression. Because to me, it seemed like you thought they all of sudden didn’t like each other, considered disbanding, and then after this song got back together. It was not like that that. It was a journey due to their struggles but because of their love and trust and constant communication they remained together. Btw- although Yoongi had a huge part with the melody and composition and lyrics, Namjoon and Hobi wrote their own parts too. The three together are geniuses. No wonder why the boys all cried together when listening to this. It’s one of my fav songs of all time 🥺💜
