DDAENG means wrong or ring a bell. Jhope is talking about how big3 companies in korea are trying to decipher the method of their success and all the thing they were target but none of those qualified. Suga talk about how the haters help them to their success and without them they will not be where they are now. RM dissed to all the ppl who mocked him for his pronunciation of his rap, and the ones who didn’t show respect/recognise when they debut but now are just fake friends.

this is a big FU to the industry, they were being sarcastic and basically telling them "you right we wont make it and will fail, just look at these achievements now" they're thanking big companies and the media for belittling and ignoring them, since it's what pushed them to work hard and be successful. Daeng: wrong, a bell, or kinda like bingo: 18 13 38 ddaeng is a card game hwatu reference. Which are the highest scores, so it means they have all the power cards and they're basically winning and are unbeatable while the haters having no chance at all. The part *it's like homework, if they cant answer it it's their problem* They were practically laughing how the industry creating task force to study and analyze how BTS got so big cause they somehow cant believe that the underdogs surpassed the 3 biggest companies cos of their hardwork When they said they were praying for the small companies to succeed they were talking about the big 3 which is ironic how the tables have turned namjoon also mocked those haters/rappers who insulted them before but were now kissing their asses after they made it and went to apologize to them while stuttering and admitting they liked them. "Rappers with no haters, shut up" rm was dragging those who rap about haters when they dont have one cos no one's payong attention to them and telling them to look at the morrors cos they're their own haters. "Who are you to approve of me" "frog in a well” is a phrase used to refer to people who stay within their means because they’re afraid of the world beyond. is bts referring to the kpop industry that’s afraid to try new things and dream beyond the norm. “die in a well” could mean rotting in their own mediocrity How namjoon didnt once raise his voice while dragging them like they dont deserve that much from him and the he remains unbothered with the haters, This is the classiest drag ever

The stuttering part in RM’s verse is actually him imitating the people who ass kissing them now or the people who suddenly come apologising to them now that they’re famous hehehehe This was a great diss track! Especially bcs they used so much word play to make sure the people it was intended for understood that they can’t be as smart as the greatest rapline of all time :D and there’s so much sarcasm in it too. Some info... - The part where they say "this is homework" is referenced towards certain companies and people in the entertainment industry that were analyzing BTS and trying to figure out how they became so successful because for some reason they can't believe it was their hardwork that brought them where they are and above the biggest entertainment companies in Korea, like deadass this news channel in Korea started having this whole break down and analyzing how BTS became successful so big companies could take notes. - The part where they talk about praying for the "small companies success", they're talking about the big 3 entertainment companies in Korea and the line is supposed to be ironic. BTS started in a small company but now said company, Big Hit, has surpassed all three of those mentioned before, which have actors, singers, dancers, and a bunch of other groups yet with just BTS alone they surpassed them. - The part where RM is stuttering while rapping he's basically making fun of people who at first insulted them when they were small but suddenly once they're big they want to apologize and be all nice to them. They're calling out all the fakes in the companies and entertainment industry. He's making fun of how they apologize stuttering and shit. On how the moment they approach them they suddenly want to apologize in private. He could also be making fun of idol rapper's poor pronunciation. - "Rappers who don't have haters shut up" RM is basically calling out people in the underground scene who rap about how they have haters and shit but no one is even paying attention to them let alone hating, there's also this part where they call their haters jobless LMAO. - The part where RM says "wash your face" he’s basically saying wash the crust out of your eyes before hating on us. There are many more references and wordplay going on even Korean armys had to do in depth research, if you read the analysis of the lyrics they go so hard it's crazy but IN CONCLUSION: this entire song is basically them saying "do whatever you want. We stay unbothered and rich"

I'm not 100% sure about this, because only BTS can confirm this for a fact if the underground rappers actually apologized. I'm also sure that some people have already told you this but I wanted to go more in depth about it: but the reason RM was stuttering during his verses was because he was mocking the haters from back then. Once you get into their introductions, especially Suga and RM (Because JHope actually wasn't a rapper until AFTER he joined the group), you'll see the vast majority of underground rappers hating on them, though, at this point, I'm sure you've encountered some B-Free clips by now and that's just he's just one example of their haters. After all the success they've received, especially during this year with Billboard and blowing up in America, some of their haters have come back to them, basically trying to kiss up to the rapline and apologize. Hence the "I-I'm sorry, I-I really do l-like you," from RM's verse. He's trying to convey that. Sidenote: We already know BTS are humble people. But to me, when RM got into the whole "we celebrate rather than being celebrities" part, it stood out to me because they don't party with other celebrities. They choose to celebrate with their fans. Like during Billboard this year, I believe that Jennifer Lopez invited them to her afterparty and they refused, telling her that they had plans with Army already.

'ddaeng' a sound that means "wrong!" in Korea kind of like the buzzer sound would be for us. Also a play on "dang" in English as in "damn" or "oh snap". It's also the high score in a Korean card game (which is also what the numbers are referencing). So basically, they're winning in this game, and the people who predicted their failure were, and still are, wrong. Sleeping after eating ramen is supposed to make you wake up with a bloated puffy face.

THIS SONG IS SO GOOD I GOT THE NOTIF AS SOON AS IT CAME OUT AND MY WIG???? SNATCHED AND FLEW ALL THE WAY TO KOREA. Yoongi's (Suga's) verse "thank you for continuously ignoring us up till now, thanks to that, stadium, dome, billboard, we gained a lot of things thanks to you" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥also Namjoon at the end with the reference to the frog story!!!! Literally translates to real life to how so many kpoppies who hate on BTS only want their faves to stay and be popular in Korea bcs "they don't need western validation" and so their faves only stay relevant in Korea instead of trying to get them worldwide.
@qncnk

I think RM is referring to a saying in his last sentence about “frogs and wells”. There’s a saying in my culture but I don’t know if Korea has the same one. The saying is like “frog sitting at the bottom of the well”, it means an ignorant person who don’t know a thing but try hard to show off. If Korea does have a similar saying, then I think he’s saying that his haters are just those frogs and he prays for them to just spend their whole lives in ignorance (the well).

The song is a diss track to haters. BTS have come a long way as a group who came from a small and nearly bankrupt company and as a result were pretty much ridiculed for everything and anything including their looks. There is a lot of wordplay and ‘Ddaeng’ is an onomatopoeic word for a bell ringing. The sound a bell makes when someone answers a question wrong. The part where they say ‘This is homework’ is referenced to certain companies and people in the industry who suddenly started analysing BTS and the reason why they became internationally successful (almost trying to find other external factors for their success other than their hard work and talent). The numbers in the song are referencing a Korean game and the highest scores one can get. When RM raps his verse he refers to 7ggut (lowest scores) which alludes to the inferiority of haters against BTS. They are flexing with class and the song is dripping of sarcasm

Ddaeng has 4 diff meanings to be interpreted through the entire song. It can mean the sound of a bell, the sound on Korean shows when something’s incorrect, what you say in the Korean ver of freeze tag when you unfreeze someone, and sudden/unexpected fortune.

when rm said " look in the mirror, the one breathing before you is none other than your hater " is sooo cool because it's literally telling the haters that they hate themselves, and on top of that in cypher pt 4 he says "y'all playa haters, you should love yourself" which also implies that these haters are hateful towards themselves too. and on TOP of that, their album is literally called 'love yourself'. i don't know if i'm over analysing, but it seems to me that rm has kept this theme of calling out haters subtly and blatantly while upholding the storyline that we see in bts' music and mvs.

"Ddaeng" = wrong, "Ding-Dong" = right RM used the tearms how I described in his verse where he said "I'm ding-dong, you're ddaeng" This song is just full of sarcasm, it's hilarious and so good. They basically dissed the whole kpop industry/idols/everyone who looked down on them/mistreated them when they were rookies, but who is now kissing their asses. RM also dissed those exact people who mistreated them, but is now confessing their love to them basically

Ddaeng (땡) is like an onomatopoeia which kinda symbolises when someone is incorrect, so it basically means “(you’re) wrong” haha someone probably already explained it by now, but anyway, great reaction. Keep it up!

this is really random but at first i was a bit skeptical (as i am with all reactors on yt) because a lot of people now and days are using bts for momentary clout and hype :/ i watched a few of ur videos last night and it's really cool because i can tell you actually invest time into learning about bts off screen!! i think it was the cypher video or something you were telling your friends about like the guy's personalities and shit and like... no one does that!! it's super cool that your friends seem just as interested in the music now as you are. a lot of ppl have weird opinions on music that isn't english for some reason (dumbasses). this is kind of long lmfaooo but i really appreciate you truly listening to the music and paying attention to the words!! i'm definitely looking forward to all your future content!

Nice reaction guys!! Okay so "Ddaeng" is actually the Korean word for "wrong" or "incorrect", in case you were wondering :) Also, when Korean is romanized (written with English letters) and the romanized word has a double consonant, that's because in Korean, they have Double-consonant letters, which essentially means that the sound of the consonant gets more pressure and emphasize ;) Hope that made sense!!

This song is obviously dedicated to the haters but it's also dedicated to everyone who put them down in Korea. What I'm trying to say is, the whole music industry and almost all of Korea looked down on them. Like I'm talking they were cut out of national tv and everyone called them flops. Everyone ignored then and now look where they're at. That's pretty much what they're talking about. Also, the part where RM was stuttering, he was pretty much imitating the rappers that were apologizing for dissing them.

Namjoon said rappers who don’t have haters shut up and that they are their only hater because underground rappers looked down on him him becoming an idol. He questions their reason for this and basically says you have no haters because no one knows who you are since their trying so hard to not be know as if it’s a bad thing.

Ddaeng can be the sound of a buzzer when you get an answer wrong and also means good luck or fortune by chance (it comes from a Korean card game), but as far as I know there are other meanings. One possible interpretation is the bang is the beginning of bangtan aka BTS.

"Hip Hop? ddaeng! Rap style? ddaeng!" In this case, ddaeng would mean "wrong!" - I'm p sure it's as joke thrown to those who say BTS rappers don't know Hip Hop culture bc they are idols. and so on, the word changes its meaning throughout the track. My fav part is RM's verse where he "stutters", idk which translation you looked at but the translation could be "I lo-lo-love it" or "I li-li-like you" I think the second is more accurate, it's as if RM is imitating those who ridiculed him at first, but now are kissing his ass and stuttering how much they love him...

DDaeng is the sound of the bell that rings when you get a question wrong ... ddaeng! wrong answer- in korean entertainment shows they use it a lot. Ding dong daeng is when you get it right - (xylophone sound) They're using it in various ways - this is what I read elsewhere anyways :)
