You guys may not know yet, but it's ok because this is something that isn't mentioned in introductions vids of him. When people watch those vids, I think they leave with the idea of Namjoon only having issues with his past but now he must be ok, because of his positive messages, speeches and great leadership skills. A really cool guy, right? However what isn't mentioned in those vids is that just like Yoongi, he has also suffered from anxiety, and other issues like depression, he felt lost and really out of place. He just dealed with it in his own way. Many also forget the fact he was still a kid during those times. I first listened to this when it came out with no lyrics and it still made me cry. You can truly feel the desperation in his voice..this song made me remember many things from my past which made me happy but I had forgotten it as life went by with so much hardships. It's also one of the songs that encouraged me to get back to what truly made me happy and remind myself that sadness is inevitable but the happy moments should never be cast aside due to sadness. BTS has truly made a big impact in soooooo many lives. Love you Cate, Josh , Zoey and Ava!! And purple everyone here !! Yoongi did cry while recording first love he had a hard time recording it because it’s important to him... he’s talking about the piano but generally music, how music had saved him from despair and all the hard times he went through i think he made this song when he had nothing but music/piano the only thing that’s there for him...

First love really is about Yoongi's piano, his first love. He neglected music for a while because he struggled a lot, loved music to the point he would play on the piano from dusk til dawn. He neglected the piano for a while and even Set fire to it I think but afterwards he let himself go. He accepted music and found his love for it again and now he pours all his heart into every single lyric. He says he's not good at showing his emotions but actually he's a Genius at it. Not by showing it with facial gestures or by talking but by writing them on paper (actually I think quite some people can relate just as myself, it's easier to write all your feeling down than tell somebody for some reason. I can't cope at all with talking about my feelings, that's why I get upset when people say that I'm not happy over something or that I don't care or I'm different from other people when I try my best at showing emotions)

I can’t with Suga’s song “First Love” he said he was crying in the booth when he recorded it, but our little genius producer. Instead of throwing out those takes he mixed the sounds of him crying into the production. Suga get’s so freaking real! And is such a great storyteller. Who else writes a song that sounds like lyrics about a lover, but is actually a conversation with a piano...which is also a broader metaphor for his love for music in general. And the part where he narrates from the piano’s point of view!? Maybe I love it extra because I became a fan in May 2016. Suga very quickly became my bias. Then his Agust D mixtape and was my first new BTS content I got to see drop. It was everything I needed at that moment in my life! Then Wings album was my first comeback and also the time everything started really blowing up for BTS. That album I still think the best all around album BTS has ever done. (There some other favorite songs of mine, but best ALBUM) I was and am obsessed with it. And this is my bias’s solo song from that album

These were from their solo songs on the WINGS album. Namjoons's lyric "I wish I could love myself" in Reflection pretty much sparked the whole Love Yourself series. When he sang it in concert ARMY started chanting "We love you" and he got emotional. Then at another concert he started changing the lyrics to "I wish we could love ourselves" and then "Yes I do love myself". Then at the Billboard Awards he said "Remember what we say, love yourself, love myself" and the rest was history. :) Yoongi's song First Love mentions his piano, but uses it as a metaphor for his love of music. It explains how he first played as a kid, then later he stopped and then came back to music. He even mentions his "crushed shoulder" which is the time he got hit by a car at his delivery job, and how he wanted to give up and set his piano on fire. But the music kept calling him and stayed by his side as he kept trying to achieve his dream. That's why he says he pushed it away before but now he "won't let go of it a second time" and to the end of his life he will protect it. It is really beautiful because he is sharing one of the most precious aspects of his life with us, it's what motivates him, his true passion, it's what makes him Min Yoongi. First Love is actually about his love for music . "Whatever form I take, you will see me again. Let's meet happily again at that time." So his first music he met was his brown piano, but when he was a teen he neglected it and didn't played it anymore. So he's music came in the form as lyrics and began to write and play his brown piano again. Fact: Yoongi said he cried during the recording of First Love and during the live concert you can hear in his voice that it was cracking a bit. So it's a very emotional song for him and you can clearly hear and feel it in his voice.

I feel the same way. I don't think there's a single song like this one that keeps my attention so completely. I forget to breathe every single time. You're right it's about the piano but it's also bigger than that, it's music, since the piano is what started his dream. Music is his reason for living, his motivation to keep on going even in his very dark times when he was younger and even now. That's why the line, "My birth and the end of my life. You will always protect those things." gets to me so much every time I listen to this song. It's what he lives for and what has protected him all this time and it is what will be left of him and protect his existence even after he is gone from this world. Of course though, one of the best things about their music is it can hit in so many different way based on the first interpretation of the listener which I think is awesome. It's a bit long but here is the quote from Yoongi about the song from an interview. "It’s a meaningful song too. “First Love” talks about the piano I used to play when I was young, which also means the only friend I had. I cried a lot while recording. I kept crying at the emotion explosion part in the latter half. It was when I just finished working on the ‘Agust D’ mixtape and moved onto the album right away, so I didn’t have much time, I wrote it quick and recorded all by myself. Right after I cried and recorded the song, I sent it and went to the airport, but then they called and said it might need to be re-recorded because the file was broken. I cried that hard while recording but! (laughs) I recorded again after going back to Korea and went to catch a flight again 4, 5 hours later. It was stressful but fun." You know what I like the best about First Love?? It's the personification of the piano. How brilliant yoongi is to actually sing in the perspective of the piano. It gets me emotional EVERY TIME!! He also did this on his featuring song with Lee Sora just few months ago where he rapped in perspective of the radio.. Just....... Music was on his side when he was at his worst/best. Music has been a part of his life and in one of the lines after he said he has crushed his shoulder and he said "i thought i cant do this anymore" he was talking aboit his career in music. One of my favorite solos. The first time I heard it, I was driving at night time and I was just playing BTS on shuffle and first love started playing. I assumed since it was called first love, it was about a person and maybe a heartbreak. I of course didn’t know the lyrics but I didn’t have to to feel the emotion. I actually cried towards the end of it when he builds up and just takes off. His love and passion for music is breathtakingly beautiful. He’s a genius and talented and passionate and I just love Suga. Definitely my favorite solo of his. When I actually read the lyrics later and realized his first love was music and his piano, it just hit me again and I cried again when I listened to it knowing it was about his childhood piano. RMs Reflection was released before mono. but he has stated in his Vlive that mono. took him years to complete that he had been writing and working on the songs during all his hard times. He has said that he feels so much for his playlist but he doesn't feel that way anymore. They are very sad and truthful songs. I was also wondering why they haven't reacted to Lie yet knowing that Jimin is Josh's ultimate bias. All reactors I knew who have Jimin as their bias first see his very iconic live performance of LIE. Been requesting it to them numerous times since the day josh announced that Jimin is his bias when he fell in love with Serendipity but to no avail. An interesting information: When they were doing the Wings Tour, Namjoon sang this song and Army decided to a project in which every time he sang "I wish I could love myself" they screamed back to him 'we love you", and the project was a success. He was so touched his voice cracked because he was trying to hold back the tears. To this day this is probably one of my favorite projects for a show that Army ever created, cause I rlly think Namjoon needed to know that no matter what, there were people who cared about him and that he was not alone. You could watch the video on your free time if you want too, you don't need to react to it if you don't want to, just watching it off camera would be ok (I'm sorry but I don't remember where it was...maybe Brazil? (Suga- First Love) is about his love for the Piano / music and when he first got his piano, he told his mom that he feels nice with the piano which is why a mother is in the lyric. If you don't know, Tteukseom (which Namjoon mentioned in Reflection) is a park in Korea. It's by the Han River. Namjoon likes to spend time reflecting in these kinds of places, especially late at night with a mask to avoid being recognized. During the Wings tour, ARMYs started a chant when Namjoon performed Reflection live. Every time after he said "I wish I could love myself" Korean ARMYS would chant "saranghae" (I love you) and international ARMYS would chant "We love you" in English. Later in the tour, Namjoon changed this lyric to "Yes I do love myself."

I believe the instrumentals after each verse in Reflection are intentional to have time for "reflection" within the song. In First Love, I also feel that it is both about his piano and his mom. Namjoon's voice is so lovely and his lyrics are just so deep. I also get that spacey feeling from Reflection. It's awesome to listen to it when it's raining. I started crying at First Love. Now I know why I don't listen to it that often: I cry. Yoongi's First Love is his piano/music.

Yes both of these songs were used in (and made for) the BTS short films. RM’s song was about him going through his depression and lack of self love (back in 2016) and going to a park at night to escape (tteukseom = the actual park he would go to clear his mind and be with himself). Suga’s first Love *IS* his piano. Obviously anyone can interpret them however they want in a personal sense. But he talked about his mom because it was her piano that was his first love (she introduced him to the piano, to music). So anyway what he was basically saying was when he was a kid he never left his piano’s side, but as he grew he began to neglect his love throughout his teenage years and when he broke his shoulder (in real life, during his trainee years prior to BTS’ debut) he was at a breaking point and was ready to walk away from music. But he says his piano spoke to him and basically drew him back, and now he resolved to never leave music again. 💜💜

Also namjoon said in one of his vlives I think that he wrote reflections and mono at the same time. He said that mono reflects himself during 2016-early 2018 which he has said previously was a tough timeperiod for him. He also said that forever rain almost made into wings as his solo, but he thought it was too personal and decided to save it for his playlist.

It’s funny you said Reflection has a Mono feel bc RM wrote it after he wrote Uhgood (track in Mono). He said he wrote Uhgood for this album (Wings Album) but decided to keep it for his mixtape bc it was so good. He then wrote Reflection for Wings (that’s why it’s similar).

Thanks for this reaction. These two songs got me real emotional when I listened to them for the first time. The part in First Love that really got me is where the piano is talking to Yoongi saying it’s Okay that let go and that Yoongj will do well on his own.🥺The live version of Yoongi’s First Love from the Wings tour is really amazing! He even had a live orchestra behind him with his real piano ( the one in his song) hanging in the air during the concert! I really hope you can find the live version and react to it.

Thank you for the reaction!!! Both of these songs are from the WINGS album and parts of them were featured in the WINGS short films which are part of the storyline. They were each written by each members and very personal to them. Actually , First Love is bout the piano and more broadly music as the piano was what introduced him to music. His love and dedication to music is extremely strong , especially knowing what he sacrificed and went through to be able to pursue music . He has stated multiple times that music was what helped him go through his issues and troubles and his passion for it and the piano are evident in this song!!! And yes , please do react to the Mono tracks!!!

I don't know if you knew or mentioned this before but while recording First Love Yoongi got so emotional he started crying at the end and if you listen carefully you can hear the rawness and the slight sobbing in the back of his throat. He decided to leave the crying in because it would transmit the raw emotion. For me it's one of the Songs that helps me calm down from panic attacks- Along with Sea and many other BTS Songs but especially these two. I just love them so much, when I hear their Songs I actually think to myself that I'm Glad I'm alive

Idk but i think, this is where the idea of love yourself came from When RM used to sing this on stage, he would say i wish i could love myself and army would always say we love you, army made this chant themselves So once on stage he said that he loves himself Then the cypher came where they said 'i love i love i love myself' And then the entire series of love yourself I always love them for the journey they have made, it makes me feel like i am beside them and this is one of the most relevant things ever Where they went from i hate myself sometimes, i wish i could love myself to knowing how important it is to them and everyone in the world and making love yourself
