Another interesting fact, Aneesa the creator of The Rise of Bangtan was one of the ARMYs waiting in line for their free concert they gave at the end of American Hustle Life. She shared she was I think 207th in line at the Troubadour in LA and they cut it off at 200! 🤦🏻‍♀️ She said it was announced on their social media, so many early ARMYs were in line, so the guys really didn’t need to pass out fliers for the concert. I think the producers of the show wanted them to learn what it feels like to have to hustle on the streets.

@@chandana0710 Yes, Aneesa did a couple of 6+ hours livestreams to answer viewers questions a while back. (I think she was delirious by the end. Haha!) She wasn't working at that time so she had more time to work on the series. She's a long time Kpop fan who discovered BTS pre-debut and wanted a way to show her friends and family why she loves them so much. This is how the series was born. She never expected to blow up as it has. She makes NO money from this from KZbin since she purposely make sure all music featured on the series goes to the music owners. She doesn't want to profit of her love for the guys!

I absolutely loved American Hustle Life, yes a few scenes are a bit too much ,but BTS learnt some valuable lessons including the fact that not everyone is going to be nice and supportive of them. The beat boxing and dance classes were for the last episode where they did a concert. They did the reality show (writing and working it all out themselves) while at the same time they were recording an album . All within the two weeks. Well worth a watch as it is part of their history and no doubt helped to develop their career.

JK was just 16 then. When Jin says he is 23 (he was 21) and JK 18, he is mentioning their Korean ages which tend to confuse new fans a lot. I like to remind this to people watching this documentary since I still think they should have translate it to international ages whenever ages are mentioned considering how young they all still were during America Hustle for example. Other than that this documentary is so good and I enjoy watching you reacting to it.

This video doesn't include the rude kidnapping they did to them at the beginning of American Hustle Life (which was my biggest issue with the series). BTS manager left the van to go do something (he was in on the "prank") so the members were left by themselves and a few men come into their van and tell BTS to give them their phones and drove them to the place where they stayed for the series. BTS had no idea what was happening and they were so scared. Being in a foreign country, not knowing English (aside from RM) and having several men barge into your van and drive you away not knowing where you are going. After they arrived they were told get out of the van and sit on a couch and remove some items like their hats, 1 sock, and 1 shoe. They did as they were asked and would barely move or make any facial expression. Eventually they were told it was part of the show but my goodness how scared they were. Especially Jungkook who was just 16 at the time and J-Hope was also very scared. Some have said the boys knew what was happening but I really don't think so. Some of them might've caught on, but I don't think any of them knew beforehand. Jungkook even said after it was revealed it was a prank he was worried he was going to get sold off and never see his parents again. American Hustle Life did have some good moments too. I really loved Miss Iris praising V and his voice after Coolio gave him a hard time. I wonder what Miss Iris thinks about them now. I also loved their interaction with Warren G and them handing out flyers for their free concert on the streets of LA begging people to come to their concert. Lesson learned if some Korean kids ask you to come to their concert for free you might want to take them up on their offer. If only those kids knew what the future would bring. And their concert at the end of the series was also good. Who knew these guys 7 years later would sell out 200,000 seats at SoFi Stadium. I'm just so proud of them.

In Korea, it is normal to ask a person's age in the first meeting to know if he/she is older than you. If the person is older then you must use honorifics and formal language when talking to them. When V asked if she is a friend, it is like asking if he could use casual or informal language to talk to her. It must have taken some time for them to adjust to that cultural difference in the US, but they did a great job adapting given a short period of time. RM mentioned during one of their recent vlive that he felt uncomfortable addressing a (seonbaenim) senior/older artist casually during the Gammys. There is this notion that you cannot be friends with someone having age gap, unless the elder gives you the permission.😁 I remember Jimin jokingly saying that they are friends with Jin, and Jin said no, he is only friends with Yoongi 😀 because there's a point within a year that Jin and Yoongi are of the same age. (this was when they were talking about using honorifics during vlive)

Even though the guys didn't pass Coolio's quiz, they were still knowledgeable about hip hop before visiting L.A. RM and Suga started rapping in elementary/middle school and Jhope danced to rap music since he was a kid. The quiz that Coolio gave them had more to do with the origins of hip hop (artists from the 80s and 90s), but the boys didn't know much about it since they listened to artists that were popular when they were growing up (late 90s and 2000s). So going on the show helped give them a broader knowledge of the culture

the thing is that the group bts was always supposed to be a hiphop group, with rm as a leader. then suga came, along with some other trainees that eventually didn’t end up in the group. after some time jhope joined, and he was also always a huge hiphop fan. the vocal line members came later, after bang pd decided to debut bts as an idol group. the vocal line members, jin, jimin, jungkook and v didn’t know that much about hiphop so that’s why people had divided opinions on bts at the beginning. but at the end of the day that’s why bts are such a perfect group: each one of them is so unique and has their own thing. with time they became more pop oriented, with rapline still having their own rap songs and keeping their original love for hiphop, but also letting other guys shine on their own. that’s why i appreciate bts so much: their understanding for eachother and respect they have between them. loved this video, can’t wait for more reactions from this series!💜

This episode just reinforced to me that V is my bias 💜 He gets shit for it by haters, but he's never been one to act different just because of the camera or because he's an idol. The most recent one is his reply to fans who asked him not to get a tattoo. He said "I'll handle that myself" (as in, that's his decision to make) but he's not going to because he might upset his dad (one thing about him: he loves his family a lot). He has such a unique mind, too, always shocking everyone with his street-smarts or his hidden talents. 🔥

They do know hip-hop but only to a certain extent, because it’s not going to be as much as those who actually came from hip-hop and experienced their life like Warren G and Coolio. Coolio at first meeting just made the assumption right away they don’t know anything based on 3-4 trivia questions on the spot and immediately concluded they don’t know anything. They literally just met. But when he got to know them, he warmed up to them when he got to spend time with them and did teach them valuable lessons as artists and as artists in hip-hop. In the beginning he made them rap for him to see where they’re at and you could tell he didn’t realize they can really rap. Americans tend to have this assumption they (as Koreans or just as foreigners) don’t know anything or can’t have the level talent or skill/ability as Americans do. This is common thinking here if you’ve seen anything that is said to and about them, since the beginning from Westerners especially Americans. Imagine if it was you and you’re constantly not believed in just by mere appearance or not being fluent in english. Anyway, I think it’s amazing how the guys survived that without turning them into angry bitter monsters but wonderful, humble, funny human beings who push on their art. Despite it’s harshness, the guys did learn some valuable lessons as artists from AHL. Especially half the guys were teenagers and the rest were college age (minus 2 yrs of the ages that was stated by members in this video), but have experienced reality in living together (not with parents) and working hard trying to make it in the industry.

American Hustle Life is tough to watch but it's worth it to understand what they went through. They really pluck them out of their environment and sent them to that Hip-hop boot camp with rough treatment and lots of yelling. When our healthy eighteen year old boy V is so damn exhausted that they have to keep him at the hospital overnight to rest with an HV in his arm, that's not normal. They surely shot the reality show during the day and recorded Dark & Wild at night. No wonder Jimin wanted to go back to his dorm asap. 🥵

Hey guys… I can understand why there are some ARMY who suggest not watching American Hustle Life. What we need to understand, is this as part of BTS history, the good the bad the ugly. Yes there are some very uncomfortable moments, they are pretty much at the beginning. Somethings will just take a little too far and I believe tmone of them that even apologized later. BTS learned so much from this experience. It’s amazing how fast these chapters go and when it gets to the end I always go, “awwwww”, already”?Thank you also for watching the deleted scenes and the bonus scenes. MCA…V is also my bias and yes, now he does not even have to give the look and the girls screaming and my heart melting. Looking forward to your next reaction to what’s next on your list of BTS. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

BTS even listens/keeps the advice from street people! Tony still following BTS too.

Yeah, most of AHL was a good lesson. There were a few moments, like Jin and Suga's Sabu-nim being a jerk that were hard to watch, and the simulated kidnapping in the beginning I thought weren't helpful at all. But there were other moments that were very helpful for them. Made them grow a lot. Still I'm glad they didn't go all in for the Hip Hop to the exclusion of the sweet, sweet vocals that came in the years after.

American Hustle life was a reality show that would help BTS learn more about hip hop. The members had training when it comes to vocals not everyone had a vocal coach though. But that was due to preferance. Some vocal members prefered working on it themselves and just get advice when needed while other vocal members really took lessons. They are continiously working on their vocals, eventhough they are already this good. But vocals are instruments so you gotta keep at it. During trainee time Jungkook went to LA to learn dancing. It is nowadays common for trainees in Hybe company to go to LA to learn dance. They have had multiple women in their music videos during there love yourself era as well. And in the graduation song (cover song of bruno mars only they wrote lyrics over it for there graduation) they have a girl.

I knew this one was coming... as the other comments suggest the AHL series is sort of controversial with ARMY because of some scenes that weren't included in this episode. But it's part of their story and how they worked hard for a DECADE to get to where they are today. If you like behind the scenes stuff, I wonder if reacting to some Bangtan Bombs would be interesting for you. If you ask for recommendations we can send some good ones your way.

Yeah, I think so too bc there are other unofficial released clips (from mnet) that showed him being much nicer in comparison. And one of the guests revealed that he was told to act a certain way too, so it might've applied to other guests. Tho, at least he wasn't a complete d*** like that one "mentor" who got dismissed early, and he actually gave them some valuable advice instead of empty lip-service. Plus, Coolio fully acknowledged all of them at the end of his part, so there's that.
