Not only does RM play with words in Korean, he does it in English and switches between both - this is an amazing skill, its not just genius it takes a lot of skill to do that whilst also making lyrical sense and cadence. I think that during this documentary RM was focus multiple times but if you think about it RM really does soo many things behind the scenes. He has more responsibility than other members. I don't think BTS would have survived US if there was no RM (not just bcz RM speak English but I think he handles western media really well and do so much more). This documentary made me appreciate him so much more.

@@irfankhan9255 Focusing on him multiple times is well deserved. BTS wouldn't have survived at all without RM, him being such a strong rapper and their main songwriter (on top of his leader duties). BTS gets artistic respect for their good lyricism and for being heavily involves in making their own music, and most of that is thanks to RM. And rapline. In the Suchwita episode with Jimin, Jimin mentions how hard rapline worked on their music, giving less burdens to the vocal line. .

In RM’s show they did ask many complicated math and scientific questions but in this clip they just showed more of the trick questions. All of the panel have high IQ’s. RM is a great leader but everyone acknowledges he got a lot of support in leadership from Jin , Suga and J Hope in their own way. He relied on Jin with the emotional side with the boys and because he never flexed his hierarchy it is believed that it was one of the major reasons that BTS was successful as he managed to keep the atmosphere harmonious. He also was the main cook initially in the beginning as well and coming from a more wealthy family often used his allowance to buy food for the group when funds were low. J Hope also was one that kept the mood happy and he was the one that kept the home organised as he is a clean and tidy freak. He was also a firm dance leader as well which kept their dancing on point. Suga tended to be one that was the problem solver with the boys and a confidante. RM relied on them during interviews as well. He always liked Jin by his side as was less anxious with him by his side and if there were tricky questions either Jin or Suga would often step in and answer if RM was tired after several interviews or just needed help. RM was the spokesperson for the group internationally which was a huge burden though Jin was in China as he spoke a little Mandarin and Jin, JHope and a couple of the others are also fairly fluent in Japanese. But as most of the other countries are English speaking the bulk fell on RM. Also interaction of course between the group and company. It was good that he did have the others to support him as they got older the others could hold their own in interviews particularly Jimin who is a good spokesman. They really are a group that have grown up supporting each other. Jin was recently analysed and was said to have been the silent leader and played an essential role in the success of BTS and if you watch the videos carefully you will see him constantly pushing the other members forward to shine and the wisdom in his words are very profound and that is why RM once said he is the person that inspires him the most and Suga said he wanted to be most like. All of them are so wonderful and blend so well and are all leaders in their own way. 💜💜💜💜

Great summary 👌 Something else about Jin's influence on the group ~ I remember Bang PD saying that out of all of the members, Jin is the only one who is the same now as he was back in trainee days. Obviously the other guys were quite young and their growth in personality is expected, but I thought it was nice to know that about Jin as it shows he was the stabilising force for the group

@@MyJooniverse that’s interesting bc he’s nothing like earlier Jin from any of the videos and interviews and stuff. He was like calm and quiet and a wall flower … now he’s loud, loves to be the center of attention and make ppl laugh, doesn’t take anything very seriously but always been loving and supportive of the boys. He can still be calm a quiet and introverted… but he’s one of the main ones who puts on a front for the cameras… same with jhope… so it’s harder to tell how he is authentically. That’s kind of sad actually.

@@blarmy827 This was an analysis of Jin and his role and the part he played and I am not down playing any other members part! All were essential for their success and all for different reasons, this particular analysis points out Jin’s contribution and I might add it’s not the first analysis that has stated that his silent leadership was crucial for their success. Each member have an element that was crucial for their success. RM’s leadership and skills with lyrics, J Hope’s dance leadership and dance skills, Suga’s frankness and production skills, Jimin’s and Tae’s unusual and wonderful voices and Jimin’s beautiful dancing. Tae’s and Jin’s exceptional visuals and Jin’s powerful, emotional voice. Let’s not forget Jungkooks ability to do anything with his voice. Main vocals, ad libs, riffs, he can do it all and dance like a pro, amongst all his other talents. To top it all, their wonderful personalities, that with all the extra content we get has made us love them even more. Yes they were all crucial to their success every single one of them. What I was commenting on was a particularly talk given by a professor on an analysis he did on Jin. I will equally make a comment when or if he analysis’s the others! As far as Jin being calm initially and now loud and always laughing, if you know anything about BTS you would know that the original concept he was given was to be the cool quiet guy which he played well and it was not until after ‘Fire’ he was allowed to be himself. RM said it was much better for Jin and the band when he was allowed to be himself. Jin is a social introvert which means he is by nature an introvert and is not one for parties, large crowds and clubs but can hold his own in social activities if needed. He is fine within the group and can be himself and mess around but still is often quiet they say as well and the group themselves state that he is the most shy and one of the quietest members of the group. So no he has not changed what changed was the concept that Big Hit gave him initially. As Bang PD said and I am sure he knows him much better than you he has not changed personality wise since training! Have you a problem with Jin?

Fan chants have been a part of kpop culture as a whole, not just big hit. It was pretty cool though being an early fan at the LA Red Bullet Tour, because I remember practicing fan chants while waiting to go in and new chants being circulated on Twitter and people handing out fliers with fan projects and stuff. Ahhhh going through these make me so nostalgic

Light Sticks have different designs and shapes for each group. Originally they were just battery operated and they had controls to turn on/off or for the light to pulsate. Later (2018 ish) I thnk is when they started coming with Bluetooth. In the app that you use, when you have tickets to a concert, there is a section to select the date, city, arena, and then your section/seat number. And then you just set that up at the venue and your light stick will be part of the show.

It still breaks my heart whenever I remember that kickjhope was a thing at that time because if you keep yourself at his place , you know it will break you . People think that spreading these kind of hate comments will provoke the fans but when it touches the idols itself , it breaks them and looking out how hardworking and talented jhope is and was back then too makes me sad because jhope or any idol does not deserve this at all . They stood strong and well they got when they deserve and I could not be less proud of them
@ZariDV
@ZariDV Жыл бұрын
That situation exposes what, to me, is one of the biggest flaws in the kpop industry/community. The idea that an idol must be perfection or ousted is such a silly thing to expect for any artistic field. Very few people start out perfectly and some of the most iconic artists in the world only gained their legendary status because they kept at it until they grew, improved and surpassed their peers. So many idols are cast aside without getting the space and time to really grow into their own. I can only imagine how many amazing performers the kpop industry lost out on because they were bullied and pressured to leave before they could really find their spark. J-Hope was different because, frankly, he was incredibly talented even as a young idol at debut. People were just hating and probably were only looking for a reason to push him out because they're obsessed with idols fitting a certain beauty standard. Which is wild because Hobi was so handsome back then as well.

3:05 Kpop groups don’t survive for a few reasons, almost none of which involve the health of the actual members: 1. They didn’t gain enough popularity. Labels invest a lot of money into training and may pull the group if they aren’t successful enough to have a certain amount of fans within the first few months. There are a few reasons this can happen, including: a. They don’t have a label with enough money to keep them if they don’t start making money right away. It was a very real possibility for BTS as they had to switch up their sound and image for “I Need You” to start being noticed more. Without that song, they wouldn’t be here. b. The company decided to keep some or all members to redebut in another group instead. 2. A scandal of some kind can absolutely destroy a group just starting out, especially if some awful fans of other groups accuse them of plagiarism against another popular group. The fact that BTS survived some of these things and the company kept pushing proves that they believed in them enough and saw their potential. They didn’t see them as products.

@@himaririku5289 most labels don’t care about the health of young idols that don’t have any popularity and would rather force them to perform despite their pain than allow them to take breaks or leave the group, especially since they have contracts. They would only force the group to slow down or disband due to health if a member physically cannot go on at all or they are no longer able to hide how sick they are. You can notice with the drastic changes in how thin some newly debuted groups are compared to maybe a year later when they are more popular, like you can tell they have better health, even if just by a little.

"Problematic Men" is the name of the TV show RM appeared on. You saw some of his first appearance on the show. The other men were regulars and older than RM. But RM WOWED them on his first appearance. For fun you guys watch it. You WILL be impressed. He appears on the show several other times...each time impressive. I don't know if you caught that impressive statistic. RM is the top 1% of the smartest men in South Korea. And being that smart..of course...he taught himself English by watching "Friends"! If you remember Jin's smart retort while on the show "Karaoke Car Pool" .... " I watch "Friends", but I don't know English. RM is so intelligent. That's why little details don't matter to him. That's why he loses everything, not just his passport. He's lost over 100 Ear Pods. Many sunglasses. And he doesn't drive and never will because he doesn't have that skill. He can't keep his mind on driving because his mind is thinking about everything else. One reason Mr. Bang was so concerned about Suga and RM is because they stayed up all night writing songs and lyrics. So they slept every minute they could during the day. During hair and makeup while waiting for others to get done they would sleep. Remember this...I've told you before. During a group talk, the members ask Suga how many songs he has written? He told them he wrote a song every day. They asked RM. He writes 1 every other day. Check below for my guess at the quiz.

Throughout the documentary if you pay close attention you'll see that of course this is BTS's journey but mostly it's RM's. It's true coz most of the lyrics are penned by him and he plays the central role when it comes to the music as well as their general message. It's a journey of a boy who had no dreams in school even after being no.1 (no more dream), how he hated himself (reflection) and finally accepted himself as who he is and started loving himself (persona and love yourself series). As jin rightfully said, "RM is BTS itself".

It looks like they're doing super well here but in reality they were about to disband due to lack of funds, they all still slept in the same one room where they have been since pre-debut, their practice room and studio was full of mould and would overflow with water every time it rained, they had only 5$ per person budget for food etc etc.

The disbanding was not due to lack of fund. It was because their 7 yrs contract was coming to an end and each individual member had to decide if they want to commit to another 7 yrs together. This is why in the speech Jin thanks the members (didn’t name who) for changing their mind. Both Jin and Jimin (probably others too) specifically mentions the contract renewal as the reason that the disbandment was brought up.

Bang pd mentored rm from day one… they’re VeRY similar thinkers… they’re both crazy readers, they’ve got similar thought processes and of course the same goals with music. Ppl don’t give him enough credit when it comes to BTS… even though his company did things in a way that nobody else was in K-pop… his companies mission statement was “music and artists for healing,” he gave them more freedom musically than pretty much most companies would… especially bc they were tackling taboo topics in their culture … which was another big reason BTS was kinda blocked from more exposure on music shows and promotion type of thing. I mean koreas school system is like a foundation of their way of living… and BTS challenged that with their first few albums… that’s not something ppl were doing there if they had any kind of platform. The government is tied into the K-pop idol industry in a big way… and once BTS moved away from school … they tackled honest , raw but taboo topics yet again. The authenticity for ppl in a society where those things weren’t spoken about publicly… so many ppl feeling alone… they just went for it. Bang pd helped get the ball rolling and BTS is his little brain child. The members and other staff of course took that ball and ran with it… but if it wasn’t for him and his faith in these guys … that they were something special … BTS wouldn’t exist. It’s such a collaborative effort… but yeh bang pd was always available for them

Each group has their own lightstick that's customized to be symbolic to the group/fandom. The Bluetooth technology is newerish so in the past army would plan projects for tour and pass out little cellophane baggies to put over the army bombs to make a rainbow or a sea of purple. But now in days for concerts you just have to pair your army bomb on the BTS lightstick app to your seat or go to a pairing booth in the venue. The original army bomb had little plastic bead inside so it would sound like a ticking bomb and a little red tip that looked like a fuse spark that wasn't attached physically so it would fall often when shooked. They attached the tip to version 2&3 with the beads inside but then just made it a circle red dot on the SE version and removed the little plastics. 🥲 There's some interesting lightstick out there like Ikon's red bat, Cherry Bullet's gun, Itzy's ringlight, Dreamcatcher's sceptors, and etc.

12:45 I feel famous lol also for the lightsticks. the first generation of ARMY bombs, like the one Tae is holding, was just with very basic white light with on/off/blink settings. it had a little plastic fuse sticking out from it, that always broke when you waved the bomb around lol and small rubber balls inside it, so if you shake it (22:28) you can hear them rumble around :) nowadays I'm pretty sure you pair it to the concert you're going to (if you're going..) and it'll register your bomb on concert network when you're at the venue when you put the bomb in concert mode? and that way you're not controlling when it blinks or changes colour, it's all pre-set by BH who creates these gorgeous lightshows.

Yes, Seventeen is another precious group of authentic guys who are super talented and make great music. Like BTS, they are another underdog story kind of group who also writes and produces most (if not all???) of their own music and has worked their way up from nothing in a different small company. I really like them too. They are definitely worth taking a look at.

I love how the members all actively took on different things to help lighten the burden rm felt. It’s a huge reason for their success… he’s essential and there’s no better leader than rm…. But he needed this team behind him to do so… and they knew that… and never stopped trying to help. I mean jungkook here is producing his own song on his iPad bc he wanted to be more helpful for his hyungs…. And that was like 2014… he’s been writing for years… but he was so young with such little life experience…but jungkook is credited on “no more dream” lol debut song and I think it’s just cute how much they all do for one another. They have their own roles… they all perfect those roles but then wander to each others to help even more. I always feel bad for jungkook when it comes to how much time and effort they put in. He was always in the studio with any song they did for the longest amount of time. He alone recorded all the vocal guides for almost EVERY single BTS song, including others solo songs and even rappers mixtapes songs…. His voice was the foundation upon what so much of their music is…. His background vocals are so key to so much of their music…. And he doesn’t talk about this stuff a lot at all…. Really the members are how we know most of that. I always wondered why they’re always praising him and thanking him for “lending his voice to BTS and nowhere else” or like rm saying BTS has come this far thanks to jk…. And I never understood why that was until I got farther into them. The excessive hours in the studio, extra hours for dance line stuff, extra hours after concerts and extra rehearsals at every stop. He has killed himself to make sure his hyungs can depend on him…. And they do… forgetting jungkook is human bc he never complains about being too exhausted to work or anything… he just jumps up and does whatever they tell him to… bc it’s how he can really help them … I love each members role bc they’re so supportive of each other and build each other up. JK is fine hanging out in the background just so his hyungs can shine out there…. It’s so cute

I feel like many groups dont make it ,not just for one reason but a mix of many. bts is the one in a million that got lucky to make it this big despite coming from 'nothing', but for many other groups it is a mix of being from small and unknown companies, not being 'attractive', not enough promotions, not enough money,their music isnt catchy enough,mistreatment both physically and mentally from staff/company ,etc etc. so many groups debut constantly so its hard to keep track of everything.theirs groups to this day that have been out just as long as bts who are talented and have great amazing music, but the fandom doesnt grow as much as one would hope. Honestly, when i saw yoongi had a song with Woosung, i got excited bcs not only is he super talented,but his group The Rose might get some exposure and new fans will recognize their talent. So many groups deserve more fans and their talent recognized, it just doesn't happen unfortunately,leading many groups to disband 😢

Coldplay concerts have a lighted wristband that is hooked up to a Bluetooth network and the colors are freakin amazing! It’s actually easier because you don’t have to hold it like a light stick but you do have to give them back at the end of the show.

About the fanchants... It's a kpop thing but they were created specially for the TV music shows, you saw that for Korean it wasn't radio but TV whom help them push and change their own music style but you can't have a bunch of fans screaming and shouting every single lyrics cause that way the audience at home won't probably hear well neither the song nor the artist vocals (remember this goes back to early 90's tech for audio and visuals) so the tv broadcast stations came up with this idea where the fans can "fully" support their artist while hyping them up and adding to their performance while not interrupting them, so the entertainment companies work those out with known fans for them (usually) and they coordinate the best way to make up this fanchants so fans have a proper direction as well and not just a messy screaming 😅 it's an intelligent solution for a new problem they were having

Thanks for that information. It never made sense to me that even though they can actually sing all the lyrics correctly, they only do the chant in Korea. All the K-pop concerts I've been to in NYC, we just scream the parts we know and mumble the rest of the words 😂

13:28 hi :) to answer your question about the fan chants, it's a kpop thing not only a bts thing hehe all companies releases the fan chant every title song comeback, that being an uploaded video on the official channel or they just upload the lyrics with the official chant on the official fanpage of the group. for example every now and then groups like to get engaged with the chants to make more fun with the fans, so to mention one group, seventeen has made lots of their own fanchant for their titles comeback and releases a video on how to do it. hope that helps you all understand a little bit more about kpop :)

13:59 It’s because in South Korea they are strict about drinking, and smoking especially drugs. Like doing drugs can black list you in the industry but the for little lollipops it’s because in South Korean they rate music videos like movies so if they used a real cigarettes, the rating would be higher plus they were young back than and didn’t want to promote smoking especially to younger audience

Aside from what you have mentioned- personality and music wise, the huge aspect that really skyrocketed BTS' success was the internet. Okay, but internet???? Other groups have been focusing in promoting in tv shows after tv shows, movies after movies, talk shows after shows for popularity. They were so focused in making money within their zone, coz ofc why waste resources promoting in US if success is uncertain? Business is business. Well, this strat actually paid off since they became well-known in Asia. You know the thing is international audience usually doesn't care about shows in foreign countries, at least if u are new to it. Hence why these other groups weren't able to penetrate in international scene. However, BTS was the opposite. Since they had a minimal opportunity to be invited on some shows in Korea or just be promoted in general, they utilized the internet to be more connected with fans. This made their contents EASILY accessible. Not to mention those dedicated fans who have been translating their stuff in almost real-time. People were able to witness their journey from the bottom coz it's in YT. They also find them silly and relatable, as well as kinda cool dudes (since their discography is kinda diff from what foreign ppl are used to). From that, more and more people got curious, watched and listen to them, and eventually fell in love with them. Although, some groups you could say are “better” than BTS. But for most people, BTS was the first group they fell in love with it. Any other groups will just "taste bland” lol. Basically, BTS have been thinking outside the box. They utilizes every opportunity they could get. And from underdogs to legends, who wouldn't be invested with their story😐

Agree with you totally👍.....for international fans like me,I dont care much for fashion,style,or crazy mv and crazy visuals.....for me a music,song and lyrics has to be good and that's why I loved listening to BTS and than i knew about their personality since everything was on yt as they were and the only artist that felt sincere, so relatable(just it seems like what we people will normally do),so genuine and musically they were involved too. Its crazy like this much fame didn't changed their personalities,their brotherhood is still the same....like if you'll get to know BTS,you'll probably learn a lot of aspects of life and how to do better in every situation....mostly you'll be a good human.I atleast felt that💜

Namjoon is very very smart. He is quite a poet too, the lyrics of the songs on his album are beautiful. And those of his Mixtape Mono are beautiful and deep. Hopefully one day they react. Like Yoongi's songs and his old mixtapes, they talk a lot about his past. And Hobby too!! They are very impressive.

The fanchat thing is not something particularly created by BigHit. Can't say who started it but its been in kpop for a long time. In most cases, companies of specific idol groups release official fanchats but sometimes fans do it by themselves (esp for b-sides of remixes). Its a pretty cool thing actually, there a lot of unique fanchants too lol.

How the ARMY bombs work at the concerts. There is an app that you get on your phone. Then you enter in your seat information. They somehow either download or sync the app information from everyone and it then coordinates all of the light patterns and color changes. IT is very technical but so amazing to see. Hope that helps with how they work 💜💜💜

Idk if someone aswered about the ARMY Bomb so: when you go to a concert with it, you have to conect to the bluethooth of the concert. It shows when you use the ARMY Bomb app, the name of the concert. If I remember right (I dont have one but my bff does), it asks you what sit you are in, you put the information and I think the app knows where you are and what color you suppost to be at special moments (like the heart).
