For those who cannot financially live on their own and may not have friends to live with. To help balance out living with a partner I found that taking a couple of solo trips and having hobbies separate from him has helped me develop who I am while still living with the partner. It’s important to nurture your needs while with someone else

Experience that independent life first ladies! Living together with your partner will be different from spending the night etc. Learn to be on your own to discover your likes and dislikes.

8:29 I agree that everyone should experience living alone before livingwith someone else. I moved out of my mom's home straight into an apartment with my boyfriend at the time. We were merely high school graduates at the time, and I do not know anyone who was as naive as we were. It was definitely a lesson learned.

Thought for dilemna sender: I think popping up "engaged" to make living together seem less scandalous might actually make the situation seem more dire for your parents. I don't know your family but conscider just having the parents meet each other and have your parents get to know this guy a little more without pretense. You might think you're parents are more against it than they really are because you are remembering how they thought of you as a teen or a child. I thought my mom would be against me moving out and thought I'd just silently get a place and spring it on her, but when I floated the idea in advance she accepted pretty easily that I was old enough to do such things. again idk if your parents deserve the benefit of the doubt or have made it clear their thoughts, but thing to consider maybe.

I def disowned my sister because she chose to leave the house in this way by abruptly telling us she’s engaged and would be moving with this man that said God told him that my sister was his wife… but this same “Godly” man put his hands on my mother after him and his mother said something disrespectful about us and our culture so my mom asked them to leave, he’s a white Hispanic. Mind you, this is a man none of us have ever heard of or met b4, he was jobless and lived with his mom and was 6 years older than her.

Tentatively, keep an open back door for your sister. If he can say hateful things about your culture (read: race) and put his hands on your mother, I guarantee he's putting his hands on her. Abusive men thrive on isolating their victims from people who would otherwise protect them, and if it was at the point where she was moving out behind your backs and sprung the news last minute the brainwashing is complete. It's better for your peace that you're comfortably staying out of her business since she took y'all for granted, but give her some grace if she comes crawling back at any point. Some people only learn life lessons the hard way. If there's an opportunity you can let her know you'll have her back if her relationship goes south it _might_ be worth saying it, but I support your decision to cut contact with her over this. Hopefully she comes to her senses before he hurts her but I wouldn't hold my breath.

@@baydiac I totally agree with you. I cut her off because of how she went about it but if she ever were to come crawling back I would consider giving her some Grace... My mom forgives her but I don't. He def. seems abusive and manipulative. I haven't seen her in months but she popped up at our moms church crying, my mom even said she looked a hot mess and had a burn on her face, so my mom decided that she's getting abused but we have no evidence honestly. Supposedly she said she wanted to move back home but ultimately decided to stay with him. She supposedly married him but we found no record of it. I fear she may get impregnated by him and will be stuck with him forever. 🙄 I am still so shocked at how irrationally she's moving this seems so out of character for her.

Oh hell no. I’m praying the best for your sister. I’m a white Latina and there’s some families that have an awful machismo (toxic masculinity) culture. I feel like this is definitely a man that’s been pampered by his mom, and his mom reinforces his views on women as “servants” and “less-than”. Be very careful. I have a cousin who was unfortunately raised this way. He hit his sister until she moved out and even hits his father. His mother always caters to him and cries for him to stay around even though all he does is disrespect and threaten his family. He even got a gun and steals money from them. Be wary of a man who’s willing to put his hands on people’s parents. He might be threatening your sister that if she leaves he’ll hurt the people she cares about, or he might be taking her money or putting her in debt so she can’t go.

I love wizkid but he isn’t the best performer. He performs like he’s thinking about how he can’t wait to get home and eat that food he left in the fridge. His music and visuals are so good, but has low energy. I think he tries, but performing isn’t his strong suit.
