Absolute legend... true gladiator... I still remember watching his last race, leading the race and the championship. I was 15 and had been a fan since I was 9 when I first saw him fighting with Schwantz at the TransAtlantic Trophy meeting at Brands Hatch in 1987. Even in '92, "Quick Mick" Doohan was right on his tails, finishing only 4 points behind Rainey, but with 3 races less driven because of his crash before the dutch TT. Had he not crashed, he would certainly have won the '92 championship. Before his accident, he was more or less destroying the competition! And the numbers speak for themselves: Rainey: 24 wins Vs. Doohan: 54 wins. In '97, Doohan won 12 races out of 15, with 2 #2's and 1 Ret. Rainey only managed to win 7 races in one season. I have a lot of respect for Rainey, but if we have to look at it objectively, noone, not even Doohan, beats Giacomo Agostini...

I accepted that, but said…”ok, so what can i do to limit that?” - started intense physio a day after my 9hr op. Dropped all pain killers and did it. Today i have some limiting factors, however I can run and walk without a stick… In the face of adversity - we can do incredible things, however, had i of been paralysed (my spinal cord was compressed) - id of accepted it - if it meant still living.
