Boxing is a sub-discipline of MMA, just as wrestling, BJJ or kickboxing is. All the other athletes are absolute specialists in their disciplines and there they are also very likely superior to a pure MMA athlete. The MMA athlete is the generalist. But the MMA athlete has greater versatility and can fight on other levels where the specialist has no skills at all. That is why I consider the MMA athlete to be superior in general. The rest is marketing

@@cahzinarx904boxers are delusional, they think they can beat kickboxers & grapplers, it’s funny to me, they clearly haven’t grappled before ever or got a proper roundhouse to their leg, roundhouse kicks generate the same force as a baseball bat, and elite level kickers can generate force more than 2x a baseball bat, a boxer gets immediately disabled after 3 kicks maximum, therefore a video out of a strongman getting roundhouse kicked by a 9 year old and he was throbbing in pain, people genuinely don’t understand how powerful kicks are it’s hilarious

MMA has exploded in the 21st century as Dan Hardy said. Boxing is very fun but only WHEN and IF the big fights happen because of the annoying promoters and boxers trying to protect their undefeated record. In MMA we don't really care about the record (Nate Diaz 22-13 record but he is a massive superstar and fan favorite, Charles Oliveira 34-9 same as Nate) we care about good scraps and exciting moments either in the mic or during the fight. Yes the wrestling can be boring sometimes but that's because we don't really understand what they are doing or don't appreciate it but the same can be said for boxing when the fighters just clinch every 5 seconds. Press conferences in MMA are way more exciting than boxing's and the production of MMA (specifically the UFC) is unmatched in comparison to any boxing's promotion. If boxing brings back the good old era where the best fought the best then I feel like it has the chances to surpass the MMA as a combat sport but until that happens MMA is the king of combat sports.

As far as what is more exciting I will say your average MMA fight and UFC event is more enjoyable to watch. There's more focus on consistency... however the biggest nights in boxing always feel more special than any UFC card. UFC can stack a card with 5 great fights and a boxing card can just be one big fight and feel more special.

Boxings only big because of the legacy the older fighters left behind and how the sport used to be. Been a sham the last 20 years, look at showtime leaving the sport, it’s not a surprise ratings are dropping off.

Showtime is leaving all sports which means they're dropping Bellator too, and boxing got better ratings on Showtime than Bellator btw. Just like Top Rank gets better ratings than the UFC on ESPN and PBC on Fox gets the highest ratings of any combat sports promotion.

I have been a boxing fan for years and and I have gotten into mma in the last 5-6 years. Mma is 100% better currently. Boxing has gone downhill over the decades. While the judging is bad and inconsistent in mma, the judging in boxing is just corrupt to its core. And the top fighters never fight each other either. Always padding their records. I also hate the fact that their are so many belts in boxing. Not a massive problem just a personal distaste. I’m ranting about boxing because I love the sport and has so much potential. But scared fighters, shady promoters and corruption have ruined the sport for me. The top guys almost always fight each other in mma since most of them are under the UFC. Overall less corruption, more exciting fights and the fact the best fighters fight each other in their primes easily makes current mma far greater in my opinion. I also love the fact that having a loss does not ruin your reputation in mma. Most of the top boxers are undefeated because they just pad their records so if one loses it hits them way harder. Look at Charles or Robert Whittaker or Chandler. All have quite a few losses but are still seen as amazing fighters and they are championship material.
