No one's denying that Leo's the GOAT, but if you compare Leo's 2022 to how he did in 2019 or 2021 it's obvious that he's not as dominant as he used to be. Even looking at this tournament, Although Leo won, he still dropped a set to MuteAce and really had to fight for the win against Tea, Light, and Sonix. Getting 4th or 5th at a tournament is still a really good placement don't get me wrong, but when the players that were already top 2 or 3 in the world begin consistently getting just as good if not better results or are winning more majors, I don't think it's hard to see why people would start to say that Leo's not the clear cut #1 with some even claiming that other people are better. Don't get me wrong, even if my comment sounds really negative towards Leo, I still respect the hell out of him. To explain why someone like him can be considered not #1 you have to view things through a pretty critical lens.

I think something to consider as well is the amount of people that train to beat the best player and study their game(I'm sure this is the case for many sports if not all)... Perhaps this was how Marss was able to beat Leo's joker back in Gen 7... But in a lot of cases where someone does figure out a counter to Leo's game(where he doesn't place as high) he adapts and rises back up. I'm not saying he's unstoppable, as he def has weaknesses, but his adaption is one element that keeps him at the top. And like Leo once said, the next to probably be the best, as he sees is Spargo.... That's what I like about Leo.... He's humble enough to say something like that

People always compare them to Roy, but I think they are more comparable to Fox. Similar mobility, strengths, weaknesses, frame data, kill power, etc. Another weakness the Aegis have is, simply put, Pyra. Yes she can kill, but opponents can take advantage of how slow she is, which worsen the relevance of the work Mythra puts in. As for Fox, he’s light, but he won’t need to slow down to improve his kill power. The Aegis probably have a better matchup chart, though. Yet, Fox has a better recovery and arguably a better time against zoners thanks to his reflector. Yada yada yada... So yeah... who’s better ? This is why ordered tier lists are kinda ass, to me. But it doesn’t prevent folks to have clean cut opinions...

@@georgesbouchet7430 I think it’s very close. Like you said, Aegis has a better matchup spread. That can’t be denied. Fox has some random struggle matchups like Luigi, ICs, and Kirby. On the other hand, while both Aegis and Fox have exploitable recoveries, I think Aegis’s is slightly worse. Fox Illusion is miles better as a horizontal recovery then Photon Edge, and Fox even has options to stall with stuff like fair or shine. With that in mind, Aegis is more likely to randomly die at really early percents. Again, it’s close. Personally, I give the edge to Fox, but I can see why someone would rank Aegis above him. I just think he’s less linear, and doesn’t have to sacrifice his speed to kill, like you said

Putting MKLeo's talent and exceptional play aside, I think Light is #1 in the US. I don't understand why society and commentators strive to lift Tweek to a position that no longer belongs to him. Any play by Tweek is celebrated in a big way, while when other US competitors play, the commentators are biased.
