Thank you so much for this review. As a 15 year with parents who like me paying for all my stuff this was an expensive investment and your video really helped me to choose this bike.

Great video thanks You are right you are the only English speaking review Looking to get one

Thanks, B'twin have updated their geo so the newer bikes are much better. Be aware that the older bikes, including this one, have/had very strange geo. Very slack seat tubes, and very short reach - just for additional info. Might be worth double checking the geo before buying.

Been looking into this bike... Nice to find an English review mate. How's the bike holding up on the trails? And is the front forks coil or air ? Great video keep up the good work
@trickyrickymtb56225 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback 😀 suspension is good m8, air front and rear. Manitou are owned by Fox now I believe, so quality has improved massively. Ive thrown this around the Kitchener trail at Sherwood Pines and it never blinked. A more detailed vid on the suspension is coming soon. Hope that helps 👍

I'm looking at one of these right now. There is nothing XC focussed at around this price point from anyone at all, even at £1100 it is on it's own. Everything else is trail geo with longer travel. You have to jump up to a 2019 Rocky Mountain Element A30 to get something comparable (and then it's only a 1x10 Deore Transmission, no remote lockouts and an entry level Judy fork). Just not sure after years of riding Specialized, Kona and Cube I can buy a sports store bike (although my mates Calibre has been excellent).

In all fairness I really enjoyed the bike, even though its now sold 😅 its the frame geometry that's XC focused, steep head angle etc, it's also fairly light, but the seat post angle let's it down slightly. I ventually outgrew the bike and decided to build my own, see other vids for more info.. but depending in your activity this is not a bad bike. Rich

Hi guys, so it been a while since I posted this video and I still get the odd comment asking about the bike. I want to share my one big concern about this and Btwin mtbs in general. They are very well built and specced, but they are not good in the geometary department e.g. the XC100S has a very slack seat tube angle which can make you feel quite stretched out while seated. Coupled with a long chain stay and relatively forward BB, this gives you very short effective reach. Approx 400mm in size large. This in my opinion is a huge issue that I only became aware of after changing bikes. I'm 6ft and currently riding 444mm reach and that still feels short. So if you are looking at this bike, be very aware of the frame geo and make sure you test ride to make sure it's a good fit!

What is the hidden kind of function of the arch by the front fork you've talkt about?
@trickyrickymtb56224 жыл бұрын
Yes I failed to expand on that didn't I, your the only one to spot it 😉. It's not so much hidden as just part of the design. The rear arch acts as a shield keeping crap off the stantions. Forward facing arches collect the crap and shorten the service untervals. Hope that was worth waiting for.

Nice video, can you tell us about the suspension/shox? how do they perform on rough descends?
@trickyrickymtb56225 жыл бұрын
Hi, for me both the fork & shock have been flawless. I tend to run the fork quite firm (around 20% sag) and have never bottomed out. This is on courses like the Kitchener trail at Sherwood Pines. Hope that helps.

Hi thanks for the video. Bumped into this one now with 1x12 gears. Saving up budget now to replace my old 26er which consist of a lot 2nd hand components, not matching up. This makes it less and less fun to ride. I was always focused to get a Canyon Neuron AL 6.0. But this Rockrider will save me around €600.00! How do you think these bikes compare and did you tried different wheel sizes like 29, 27.5 and 27.5 plus? Additional question: Did you have any negative experiences caused by the 69.5 angled head tube? Being the bike too nervous to steer?
@trickyrickymtb56224 жыл бұрын
Hey, apologies, I must've missed your question. I'm sure you've made your decision now, but just to give my thoughts.. the head angle isn't too much of a problem unless you are tackling a very steep descent. The Canyon Neuron is a nice bike, withe better geometry, but like you say do you need that and is it worth that extra 600.
@fjph88264 жыл бұрын
@@trickyrickymtb5622 thanks. Thinking now between the Rockrider XC 100s and a Cube Stereo 120 Pro 29. Cube is 400 more. A bit less then the Canyon.
@trickyrickymtb56224 жыл бұрын
@@fjph8826 my thought process is go with your budget. To be honest, as much as I liked it, I outgrew the XC100s and have now replaced it with a much more capable bike. So go for the best u can afford, but leaving enough to upgrade those all important contact points. The Canyon and Cube will be more cable bikes and will grow with you. I'm now riding the Vitus Escarpe. Have you looked the Vitus Mythique? Very nice, capable trail bike

Hi, thanks for the video, have you got the link for the saddle you featured? Looking to replace but cant see to find this one?
@trickyrickymtb56224 жыл бұрын
Hi, it's the WTB Volt Race saddle and is available from most online and high street bike retailers. From memory it was a little tricky to get hold of, as they sell out quite fast. Got mine off ebay if that helps

almost a year on, hows the bike holding up? any problems? I have a hardtail but find it uncomfortable so i have been looking at this bike

Hey, if your thinking about getting the Rickrider, it's a decent well made bike. Be aware of the effective reach and definitely size up. I've upgraded since putting this vid out

Hi, how did you get it for £750?
@trickyrickymtb56224 жыл бұрын
I got the 2019 bike, just before they brought out the new version. The new one switched the drive train to 12 speed and had a new saddle. Other than that, it was the same bike. You do have to be lucky with Decathlon. Also dont be afraid to barter with them. They usually have scope for price reductions.

To me, this Btwin rockrider xc100s is more than enough if I've budget ya. 🤔🙄

It's a great bike, not many better unless you step up to the £1500/1600 mark. I've actually made loads more mods to mine. Shout me up if you wanna follow up vid.
