In this video I talk about how these scales work as well as the different weights I see with both and what I am thinking is going on. If you have more info on how these scales work, please comment and let us know as well as your thoughts on this video! Thank you in advance for watching and leaving a comment!

Great video, Sarge. I use the Rapala, like you, I've scratched them up. May get the Bubba next.

Make sure when you tare the scale before you start the day with the fish clip hanging, then zero between each fish. I also took the big metal piece off and used only 1 split ring.
@AsleepAtTheReel5 ай бұрын
how do you tare the scale on this? I know how on the tournament scale but have not seen that option on the Bubba. I need more learning time with it for sure. I do zero between each fish, sometimes it will show a negative number so ZERO!
@MikeBakerVideos5 ай бұрын
@@AsleepAtTheReel You have to let the clip hang and hit clear on the Bubba. The way you are doing it, you are adding the weight of the clip mechanism to the fish weight. I know from making the same mistake.

Bubba scale. I like the look of that unit. Might have to check it out.

I really like it. Not 100% sold on it yet. Will know after I check it with a tournament scale! Thank You for watching and commenting.

Your comment at 4:30 "it's almost 10 over" ain't that bad considering you are weighing in decimals pounds and the way you held the fish and clip prior to turning it on you are also weighing the whole clip system. Not using that to defend one scale over the other. They are all built within tolerances. Just started using the bubba scale this season and it's an awesome scale with some nice features.

Thanks for watching and for the comment. I agree, it is not bad. I was corrected after putting this video out about how to zero the scale, meaning let the entire thing hang, then hit zero. You are correct, they are close and both have proven useful in tournaments, but the difference is the screen. The Rapala scale would only last me about 8 months to a year and then the screen was so scratched up I could not see the numbers, plus the LED seemed to be less powered, even with new batteries. The Bubba however is an easy to see scale. If this interest you, check out the next video where I compared the Bubba to a certified scale. Still getting half a pound extra on the certified scale but it gives me a good idea before hand. I guess the biggest thing on this video is one that I have never said until now. The Rapala is cheaper in price, but by the time you buy or replace them, will you spend more money on multiple Repala scales vs one Bubba! Again, thanks for the reply and watching.

yeah it has been hard. I caught these on a hair jig in the color of Grey Ghost. It got much better after 10 am.

Thank you. Oh, I think the jigs made it here today. I have not looked, just put the package in the truck as I am heading out in a few hours for Reelfoot. I feel confident that is the bag, kind of blue. I will look at them this afternoon or tomorrow. Thanks brother!

Wow, that's a big difference in a tournament. And from fish to fish was lot of difference. Can the bubba be calibrated to match CAT scale?
@AsleepAtTheReel5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately it can't. Wish it could, that would be great!

Need to retest with the clip weight on the bubba.
@AsleepAtTheReel5 ай бұрын
Ok more info. I don’t know about a clip weight.
@Ar-tf5cs5 ай бұрын
@@AsleepAtTheReel just zero it with the clip hanging, before attaching it to the fish. That small amount of weight will be added to the weight of the fish by mistake.

I understand the concept of your video. But your video does nothing for how accurate the scales are. You are just showing the variation between the 2 scales. Which one is the most accurate compared to a certified scale? I belong to a small bass club here in PA. We do "paper" tournaments. We are looking to upgrade our scales. My concern is how consistent is each of the scales when weighing a given weight a few times? We were using the Rapala high contrast scales, but found them to vary as much as 0.15 lbs. when weighing the same weight a couple different times. That would allow us to have a fairer "weigh-in" at the end of the day. TYIA for your response.

thanks for watching and for the comment. Great question. What I found is the Bubba seemed to be more accurate. The reason is it does like a certified scale when reading and locks a weight in, where the Rapala I had to hit the lock button when I felt like I had a good reading. In the wind, I could never get a good reading, so when I hit lock, it locked onto whatever weight was showing at that point. Now I did another video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYLGfZ6MhKh2d6c where I weighed 7 fist on the Bubba Pro and then those same 7 fish on the certified scale. That might give you a little more insight. Overall I am happier with the Bubba scale than the rapala and think it is more accurate as it uses the same weighing concept of taking several readings like the certified scale does. I hope this answers your question. Again, this is just a test that I did to compare the two scales in this video and then the Bubba against a certified scale in the next video. I wish I had the Rapala for that video but I did not. Again, hope this helps and thanks for the question.

You can't take all the weight off of the scale when you zero. You have to zero the scale with the clip, chain and split ring hanging. Otherwise you're getting the weight of the those things along with your fish. And the difference between these scales could just be the difference between the chain, clip and split ring the way you're doing it in the video.

ah, I did not think of that. Thank you. I will be doing another this weekend at the tournament with the Bubba scale vs the Tournament scale. I will be sure to mention that. I appreciate the comment!

I think they weigh pretty much the same. I like the pro better after using both but there is nothing at all wrong with the standard model. You will like it.
