Bubble Bobble (NES) Normal Good Ending

Something from the record-a-thon I had with TwilightPrince123 last week. Here we see how to get to the Secret Road from Level 99, and getting to Super Drunk with two players for the regular good ending. The absolute best ending, though...that'll have to wait until the next time we can record stuff together.
And yes, I was that dumbass first player. Hadn't really played Bubble Bobble seriously since childhood. But at last, a vexing enigma has been solved after so many years!

Yup the end boss Grummple Grommit (super drunk) turned them into bubble dragons when he kidnapped their girlfriends Patty & Betty. Their human selves you can play as in the prequel (sequel) Rainbow islands and it’s sequel Parasol Stars

you have to finish it with 2 players to get the good ending, (and open the secret road to the boss?) right? I don't remember what happens if you finish it solo and/or NOT taking the secret road.

You can beat the boss in 1 player. I just did it and I got a message afterwards that says "bad end. this is not a true ending! take the magical crystal ball, and you will find the door to secret road! Password GEJJJ"

NOTHING HAPPENS, you just keep getting the bad end even after you got the secret road. 😔

in the NES version, you can see bub and bob's girlfriends fall just like in the good endings, but afterwards they disappear and text appears saying 'bad end' and stuff.

SO MUCH time wasted against the boss... come on already make some bubbles..... JUMP and make more bubbles, the boss freezes when hit... no need to make bubbles only at floor level...
