Have to agree with you there. It sucks that they completely ruined it in Prime 2 when they decided to Barbie-fy her. To add insult to injury, they also changed her hair color from a realistic looking blonde to that horrendous yellow color. Personally, I’ve always felt that Samus should have a buffer, broader shouldered physique with a flatter chest. It always bothers me know that her scrawny barbie physique could never realistically fit the form of her suit. I feel this would also make her Zero Suit form more interesting and iconic.

Man, I was kinda disappointed that Samus didn't take off the suit at the end of dread, or atleast take off the helmet. There's a kind of personal "feeling" you get when you get the best ending. Like, even under all that armor and the stoic demeanor, there's still a person under there, and now they get to let loose and relax after a job well done. But dread kinda just left that out, or maybe Dread's story isn't done yet. I haven't heard anything concerning DLC though, so I don't know.

I've always been a bit confused by the fusion endings. Since it talked about the surgery and such, I kinda figured she'd look a bit different, or that parts of the suit were fused to her, etx. The endings are amazing, some of the best pictures of her, but still. But then the dread ending leaned into the idea anyway, with how she needed the suit changed to not drain the ship so is presumably stuck.

They needed to operate samus' suit because its kinda organic and it locked the moment Samus fell in coma. So the surgery was to remove some organic parts of her suit. That's why the Fusion suit takes so much damage.

Keep in mind that the Metroid Suit wasn't just her suit going rampant, she herself was going rampant. If she didn't have the suit on in that scene, she probably would have fleshy dreadlocks, large fangs, and spines growing from her arms and legs; something like the Queen of Blades from StarCraft. The extra Thoha DNA helped turn off the Metroid rampancy, but not necessarily her suit. Based on what I've gathered through the series, her power suit is integrated into her DNA and only she can willingly turn it on and off; it's not stored on her ship or in her zero suit, it's a part of her being (Zero Mission's last act confuses me; how does she lose her suit from getting shot down? Idk.) She's been knocked unconscious in Prime 3 and Dread, but the suit stays on. In Fusion she gets infected by the X, so that's why the Federation performed surgery to try to cut the infection off, and then the Metroid DNA sorta glued her back together post-surgery. I think she can still willingly take the suit on and off due to the Fusion endings, and due to the death animations showing her suit exploding off of her in Fusion and Dread. I think she still appears as a human in spite of being part Metroid; her Thoha and Mawkin DNA didn't change her human appearance, but there's no doubt they helped her grow tall and muscular. Her Metroid could likely be activated in moments of anger or after siphoning large amounts of energy.

Interesting, I didn't find Dread to be all that intense. There are frequent checkpoints, so if an EMMI does kill you, you restart right outside the zone like nothing happened. Same with the bosses. Evolution of… low power alarms in Metroid games? The beeping when your energy reserves go down into the ‘red zone’? I think some have two variants, like the beeping going faster and higher pitched in Other M when the energy is flickering between 1 and 0.

To be fair, the REAL final boss of Fusion was the SA-X. The Omega metroid just kind of was added as a means to get Samus's old suit back through the SA-X absorption

How about we agree that it was never too bad, nothing too offensive, just a concept developed with 12 year old teenage boys in mind back then. But it's still a good thing, that there has been a change in how we reflect about all this. The discussion in itself is important. But must it be so angry? Samus is a really cool character, the genre of Metroidvania is timeless and we can all just enjoy whatever our favourite part is. Be happy with it. If the underwear shots are so essential to you, just stick to the old games where you can stare in awe for 2 seconds at the end of your playthrough. And to those who greet other approaches, leave them be as well. Those flamewars over some decades old pixel art (really cool pixel art, as in Phoenix Wright style pixel art!!) are amusing but sad at the same time. PS: Metroid Prime Samus' face looks fckng broken 😆 just some misguided plastic surgery going on.

I am disappointed that there's no multiple endings in Metroid Dread. It is a tradition that 2D Metroid games should have a multiple endings depending on our performances especially when it comes to speedrunning. Dread however do not do that. The only thing for speedrunning was to unlock a gallery, that's it. No Samus taking off her helmet or take off her Power Suit to reveal her insides like the iconic Zero Suit. Because of the lack of tradition and already unlocked all gallery, I rather do the exploration for 100% completion over speedrunning compared to previous 2D Metroid games I've played before. I just make sure that I played it on Normal Difficulty. Hard Mode's damage output was just fucking ridiculous.

Yeah, it's really a shame, especially since her last suit even supposeely alters her body too... Really wonder how Zero suit Metroid Samus would look like.

@@zettovii1367 I'm sure that it did not change her body not counting the Power Suit. This is a Nintendo game thus it would never ever go M-rated. It will always be T-rated in a game like this(Past 2D Metroid games are the exception). At least in the death scene not counting the failed EMMI counter, we see her in her iconic Zero Suit, so why not the ending do that even with our best performance?

@@willy24able Samus' head looks kinda different too when you look at her metroid visor. So itd only make sense that itd alter her body, especially since the Metroid DNA didn't come from the armor, but from the body. As for there not being any zero suit Samus for finishing the game, there is no way to say for sure. Could be cause of politics, or the game was rushed and the ending was simply skipped.... Who knows.

@@zettovii1367 We wanted to see if Samus is okay after all she has been through on ZDR. We just wanted to see her in human form had the game have multiple endings like previous 2D Metroid. Sadly, for a game that was really good, the ending & credits were rushed. No resolution of this rouge faction of Galactic Federation that was mentioned in Fusion, the credits do not have models of this game’s memorable moments unlike Samus Returns, and no multiple endings unlike past 2D Metroid. This is not what I call a proper ending of this supposedly finale of the Metroid story. Before the game’s launch, all I want was to have everything resolved & seeing Samus Aran be okay, NOT LEAVING IT INCOMPLETE! THIS IS WHY I’M MAJORLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE GAME’S FINALE!

Due to Dread's story has not resolved every plot point, we have to wait another 4 years before a brand new 2D Metroid comes around. Despite Dread having a great sales in a first month, Metroid still was never known to be a good seller unlike Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, or Smash Bros. If Dread would've still kept the multiple endings of past 2D Metroid, I would forgive it much better.
