Hi! When choosing between frontend workflow or backend workflow, what more is important to think about? I've learned that sensitive data should be done using a backend workflow for security reasons, for example. For sensitive data, should I use bubble's backend workflows along with the plugins backend option?

Hello there! The calls made by firebase from the front-end will be secure enough if you configure your security rules properly at Firestore's Firebase Console. The main difference to consider when choosing between them on Bubble is that Bubble's backend functions are extremally slow on plugins (it's a Bubble's limitation), so they take like 30 sec to warm up on the first execution, to remain a bit faster for the next minutes. That makes them consume a lot of Workload Units from Bubble. So I would recommend to always use front-end operations, when possible (in backend workflows it won't be, for instance) and also to configure the security rules (tip: you can ask nicely to chatGPT or Bing AI and it'll help you with that).

@@estareapps Yeah, I noticed that! It was incredibly slow at the beginning... Okay, I'll look into the security rules when I get to that point, thank you for the help! I'm eagerly awaiting the documentation for the Firestore Data Extractor, Firestore Data Processor and so on, haha! Because I can't get it to work properly right now...

Im trying to use Firebase because my WU Consumption is too high with the Backend Workflows in my Application. Im basically running Automations which should Choose, Change and Create Rows. Is your Plugin a good Choice here or still WU Intensive?

In your case, no. Our plugin saves WU consumption only on the frontend, since the queries run on the user's browser and not the Bubble servers. With the backend actions though, because of the way Bubble loads server side actions from plugins (that's true to all plugins) they have a high WU consumption. So, to save WU on backend operations, the best course of action would be to have an external backend, like Zapier, n8n, Xano, etc.
