Chinua Achebe stressed that African society is not homogenous. Polygamy is present but not as common as implied in this presentation. Perhaps you should refer to 'Nigerian society', rather than 'African society' as Buchi was raised in Nigeria, therefore, this story is written from the perspective of a Nigerian woman, living in Nigeria.
