In 1988 Buck used 425 modified steel. They switched to 420HC in 1992ish. You have a nice knife. They are considered “lower end” but don’t discount them. Buck does have great heat treating. It’s a timeless Classic!

my buck 120 general from 95, from crappy tire. One & the same, it last forever. It even done the job of shovel once when we needed an emergency crap hole.

I bought a Buck 124 from Le Baron close to the Bonaventure overpass in 1982. And a small Buck hatchet.
