I used to sell t-shirts for these guys at their shows in SF. They were a lot of fun and Buck was a genuinely sweet person.

I remember Buck. He was a very sweet guy. I worked with his brother (who was also their drummer) at the Paradise Lounge. Still remember when he got shot in the Pan Handle of GG Park. Absolutely terrible

Yes, it is a very sad story.

Watching them live at Nightbreak while the locals lustily sang along with the chorus is one of my favorite rock and roll memories.

I'll never forget the first time I saw these guys play. It was at the Cactus Club in San Jose. I think they were opening for the Beat Farmers, but I can't be 100% sure. When "Buck" and the boys walked out, and buck was wearing just cowboy boots, a hat, and a plunger, I was wondering what the heck. Then they go into "Up Your Butt", "Teenage P*ssy from Outer Space", etc. It was such a fun show. I was lucky to see them many more times before his untimely death. RIP Buck, thank you for all the great times.

Buck and the boys were a fixture at the now shuttered Paradise Lounge in San Francisco in the late 80’s. They played in a tiny corner of the “expanded” lounge. Buck’s stage presence was legendary and he was the nicest guy off stage. The in your face - literally cheeky masculinity was a refreshing change from the smug attitude some of the bands who played the venue. The energy was electric. Once the first chord was struck the dance floor was packed. Hipsters of the time danced with curious tourist and denizens alike. You could only smile when watching Buck and the boys. The tragedy of his murder was a shock to all. They were truly one of kind. RIP

@tafkan77 Primus made the Wynona clip shortly after Buck was shot, so they used the drumskin as a tribute.

Saw Buck and the Boys a few times - was astonished the first time I saw him at a bar in Palo Alto and all the little frat Stanford girls were singing along .... hung out with the guitar player one night at a Chris Isaac show in the City - super nice guy.

I discovered them by accident, actually. Walked into the old I-Beam on Haight just for a beer, and there's this guy on stage wearing a toilet plunger on his crotch. I thought to myself, "oh, I gotta see this!" Been a fan ever since. RIP Buck, loved your work.

I saw these guys on New Year's Eve, probably 1988 at Margi's in San Jose. It was an amazing show, and when they busted out a song, "Shit Face Boogie" I was a fan for life! I went out and bought this CD!

@longrangeskeeter If the only meter on your heart measures audacity, Buck was off the charts. But Genius? Really? Dolemite isn't genius and it's ten times as interesting as this. It's tremendous show business, but file this under Music For The Deaf.
