Chinese made knives are top quality these days. Ten thousand years of sword making combined with state of the art robotics and CNC Machining plus every country on earth sending PHD level machinists etc to pump technology into their factories. The USA, Germany etc can no longer come close to competing. For $25 you can buy a D2 Steel G10 CNC made knife. And steel makers States side tested the steel and said it's excellent. For $200 you get a BM 940 aluminum handles. Spend $200 on a Chinese folder and you get Titanium with a beautiful new design. I bought the Vanguard (arriving today) only for the design but Buck would never risk quality and their company name if it wasn't 100% top notch quality so never mind the nay sayers. You got a good excellent quality knife. Competition in China is so Fierce there is no room for anybody who doesn't make anything talk quality

To the haters... Would you rather Buck kept everything in house, higher prices, can't compete in the market and go bust? Would that please you?...... You're still supporting the company if you buy this, made in China or not.

Sorry but I'd rather pay $30/40 more for the knife and have it made here in the USA. C'mon Buck!!

Its an awesome deal and still has their lifetime guarantee, BUT I purchased a Gerber Strongarm for $50 made right up the road from me. Their 420hc has an excellent heat treat and that knife can take some serious abuse, I love my Gerber Strongarm and also my Prodigy they both have been awesome knives. That being said I would have no issue buying the Buck Selkirk, for $50 you're getting an awesome rig, good 420 hc steel, a nice sheath, fire steel a great design. I really do think Buck could keep more knives here at home, I would be totally fine if just the blade was made here and heat treated, all the other goodies could be imported. China has a horrible batting average for heat treating steel, ya never know who was cooking that day, could be the old qualified guy or a 10 year old slave driven kid.😑

that Back makes knives i China is a shame, man. There is no "trade-off" in throwing away industrial know how and cultural heritage. The first folder I got as a kid from my grandpa (who was a hunter/fisherman) was an old Buck. It could last for generations. The knife you bought is not bad but it is not Buck! best from Greenland.

American companies have taken their technology and moved it to China and they have stolen that technology to make their military better off, and also their transportation system also. I hated to learn that Buck joined that list of companies and hope they lose customers because of it.
