I carried a buck 722 spitfire for 8 years and is a solid knife. I still have it, just needs a new blade is all. I didn't know you could use a benchmade pocket clip which I do have a clip like that. Cool mod thanks for sharing.

The spitfire is one of those knives that every time I saw a picture or video of one, I'd tell myself I need to get one, and then I'd forget about it. I think they are a nice lookin knife. I like lock back knives.

I looked at this knife many times before picking one up, and now I’m glad I did. It really is a cool knife and did come really sharp. A few minutes cleaning up the action and it is as good as knives costing twice as much Thanks for checking out the video

I was about to leave a comment saying almost exactly that. You can get one from their custom shop now too.

Lockback knives are underrated. They seem the most durable to me. I just got a Ganzo Spyderco clone for $15. Its lockback and rock solid. I have this one in the mail so cant wait for it to come 😊

I just replaced my clip with a bugout clip and It took this knife to a different level for edc for me. Factory clip on these really suck. Thanks for showing this.

I just got an orange spitfire and it was stiff like yours. I took it apart and founds burrs just like yours. I filed them down and lubed it up. It works so much better! Thanks for making this video and showing how to fix the issue. 👍👊

That was interesting. That one missed the burr bench evidently. But nice knife, and your tune up worked out. Very cool.👍

I think the spring was 70% of the problem, the little bit of debris and the burr just added to it, It’s smooth like butter now and thanks for viewing

Great upload. Nice catch with the burrs and springing the clip. Don't do this at home. John the professional knife abuser. 😊 Thank you for sharing another helpful informational video.

Nice finding those burrs and getting those out. Bending that spring to take some tension off made that knife a smooth one-handed opener like it was supposed to be. Good work. The blade hitting the back lock when closed, was the same problem I had with my Boker plus Nubilum. Except the blade tip was hitting the last barrel spacer and made a dent in the edge. Brand new and already a project. But I like projects and had to re-profile the edge since the curve wasn’t perfect in that area. Now it’s perfect and a great knife. Yours has a lot more edge touching. A bigger re-profile job. Weird how things like that get right passed quality control. Gives us tinkerers something to tinker with though.

Hello John, I have just bought the same knife in black and the mini, arrived here today in the UK. Both are very stiff and struggle to open with one hand. I came on KZbin to see if I could find a fix and found your helpful video. I'm reluctant to send them back but will attempt what you did in the video. This must be a fault in their production as I have two brand new knifes with the same stiff blade? Thanks for the great video from a new subscriber.

@@andyd7213 yes, it made a huge difference, especially the spring part, good luck with your new knives and thanks for joining us.

You should try Ballistol on your knives. It’ll make the action smooth as silk. I use it on all my firearms.
@JohnKlahr8 ай бұрын
Not a fan of Ballistol at all, leaves gummy residue inside the knife and stinks horribly, my One angry kid oil is non toxic and much safer to use on your knives being made from all food grade ingredients. If you need a goood gun oil I recommend G96 over Ballistol any day.
@kevm77514 ай бұрын
I use Ballistol on all my fishing reels and have done for years. I never found any stickiness or residue. User friendly and good value.
