Buckenara’s high marking and elite kicking skills made him a star at Subiaco before he switched to the VFL to help spark Hawthorn’s 1980s golden era.
The brilliant half forward was a part of Hawks premierships in 1983, 86, 88 and 89, and during that period was named All Australian three times.

I remember sitting in the MCG at the 1985 GF. BUcks was picked in the 2nds {who were also in a GF} I was so relieved as an Essendon supporter that Hawthorn had not picked him in their first squad. . Turned out to be a great day for Essendon . .

I was so very pissed off when Bucky wasn't selected in the Hawks side in 85. He wouldn't have changed the result but it wouldn't have been the thrashing that it was.

2:19 It CAN'T be a 15 metre penalty. It's impossible to waste time after the siren has gone. Why isn't there an off field umpire to sort such thinsg out?

It was for running over the mark, Stynes cut between the man on the mark & Buckenara. Technical, but it was there & apparently Stynes was unfamiliar with the rule.

​@@sentimentalbloke185the siren had sounded. I'm not sure what the ruling is , the umpire hadn't heard the siren. If he heard the siren can he still pay the 15mtr penalty

@@TheVanguard333 I told you what the ruling was. You can't see him do it from that footage but no one at the time disagreed with the decision & it was something Stynes had to live with as part of his early years learning the game.
