the point of the whole show is Aang had every single reason to destroy and redrum the whole fire nation but he actively chooses to end the cycle of violence. Air nomads are pacifists they don't even kill bugs. Everybody was telling him he needed to end Ozai but he said nope I am not compromising my values I am finding a new way to stop him.
