It's not sure how much was lost though. Since merging with Raava at peak strength the AS is more powerful now than it has been in the last 10000 years. The past lives really only contribute knowledge and certain moves and subskills they knew in life. Plenty of which have likely been passed on with regular bending. And that still leaves Raava herself who has her own memories and experiences of each of her former hosts lives and experiences. And she likely retained some of that from prior use of the AS, such as energybending amongst other things.

Kuvira 🤝🏿 Lin Beifong Suyin ruins everything But really my problem with Korra as a whole is that every antagonist gets written into a corner when they're winning way too well and then they get written out in a way that I dont like. Amon being a waterbender doesn't automatically discredit the equalist beliefs (granted the response was to replace the elemental council with a nonbending president who was not a good person at all which raises...new questions). I don't even remember what Unalaq's deal was because I mentally tapped out of Season 2 outside of the Wan stuff. I think he wanted to reopen spirit portals and reunite with them to understand what the heck the dark spirits were doing until the whole vaatu/dark avatar thing (which lowkey, sounds cool and ties back into the yin-yang dualism with Aang and Zuko as long as they remember that Yin and Yang are neither truly good or evil, just different aspects of humanity) Red Lotus were fine and don't even mind that Korra had to go through major character searching and development through S3-4. I don't member much about Kuvira outside something something mommy issues something something betrayed her husband and something about the Earth Empire beliefs changing radically. Maybe I'm due for a rewatch?

There is no way Zuko would’ve won against season one Azula Let me explain in the beginning of the series you see Azules hair, is usually in a nice neat bun she never has a single hair out of place. Before she fights Zuzu, you see she cuts her hair into some uneven bangs and her bun is a mess. Azula’s messy hair represented her losing control of her mental state. She’s desperately trying to cling onto her sanity and keep it under control just like she desperately tried, with her hair, but failed. After the fight, you see, her hair is complete let down it’s all knotted and messy, and in a horrible state. Her hair is a representation of her mental breakdown. So I’m saying, all of that to say that, even in the beginning of the fight, she was clearly not herself, Zuko would never have been able to beat season one Azula. Also even before the fight when Iroh and Zuko were talking Iroh, said that he (Zuko) would need help defeat in her. Also also before the fight, Zuko himself even said said to Katara that he could take her because he could sense that “somethings off” So no Zuko would not have won. I’m also very disappointed they didn’t bring back Azula in legend of Korra, or even mention her name. Sorry, this is so long 😂😂

Maybe if Katara taught Korra blood bending or even a little bit of info about it she would’ve been able to counter it properly maybe. Unalaq merged with Vaatu and extracted Raava from her and destroyed all of the past lives. Zaheer used the poison to force her into the avatar state to try and kill her. Leaving her paralyzed & broken with PTSD for what three years I think? So it’s a little unfair to say, Korra has never won a 1V1, considering she was either up against opponents, who usually used some sort of sneaky tactic to try and defeat her. I think Kuvira is the only one that actually fought her one on one on her own fairly everyone else had their friends or some hidden secret trick to try to take her down.

true the fighting style evovled over time, I think the quicker movements is why each of their attacks seem to be weaker too, if you compare firebending in TLOK compared to ATLA you see the attacks in Korra produce much less fire than the longer attack movements firebenders did in ATLA. So I think that means the bigger the movements you do before bending the stronger the bending effect is, like when Bumi was trapped his earthbending with just his head was much weaker than his earthbending when he could use his full body, he could even move entire buildings and lift a massive iron statue of Ozai when he could use his whole body to bend

Korra defenders can be as mad as they like. Kuvira gets the Sauce Award because you can't SEE air attacks. That's strictly for viewing pleasure confirmed in ATLA behind the scenes. So 100% or not, Kuvira was weaving attacks she couldnt see up close to mix up Korra and is not an airbender nor has she fought one personally. They left her out of the fight with Zaheer. Put some respect on Kuvira. She offered the ones and Korra said "I got it tho" she won at the end because that plot armor, and that "friendship is magic" from the group she ran through kicked in. 💀🙏🏽💯

We already had Aang needing to get hard-carried by his past lives during the fight with Ozai. They can only pull that so often. That said, the connection doesn't contribute much beyond personal knowledge and insights. Everthing else can be regained easily enough.

Nothing was kept vague. Roku didn't talk about the Avatar State during the winter solstice-- he talked about how he needed to defeat Ozai before the arrival of Sozin's comet at the end of summer.
