Dude kills it, whether it's fast paced note mania, or slow captivating pieces, he's just built different. My biggest guitar inspiration and reason I ever picked it up. He has something for every situation or emotional state I've ever been in. And it's the fact that he's so good, and creates SO much that it just makes him a cut above the rest in my eyes.

This is great lesson. Explaining chords, melody simple, the B minor add 9 stretch perfect. Minor add 9 chords are good. I discovered bucket in 2001 this song introduced me. Exactly what I wanted to hear, at that time. Before buckethead, was shrapnel guitarist, old school metal and hendrix.. For me, Buckethead is most peaceful guitarist in world. Help please...When you say he's using A mixolyd, G lydian, etc... how so though? I get relative major/minor and modes from the scales but I don't understand what you mean by he's using a mode. Isn't he arpeggiating M, m add9 chords all from Bm...
@samwinn27742 жыл бұрын
So if you understand relative major and minor that's a good start.. so that being said one can look at things in two ways major keys and minor keys but essentially the relative minor to a major and vice versa is technically the same thing... they use the same exact notes right? The only difference the relative major or minor have is the root... for example if you're in the key of G major and it's relative minor is E minor your root note is going to be G and you're going to put your emphasis on the Note G kind of like a home base every Melody, riff lick or phrase is going to use the note G as the root or emphasis... G is the home base for the key of G major when in the key of G major and the G Major scale is spelled: G A B C D E and F# so as long as you play phrases and licks melodies or whatever using these seven notes and make your emphasis or home base the note G, then whatever you play will sound great when you're in the key of G major now the relative minor to G major E minor is spelled exactly like key of G major however it's emphasis/home base or root note is going to be the note E... it uses the exact same notes as the key of G only instead of starting on G it starts on E.. so modes or just an extension of that so if you want to try any of the modes of the key of G just start on whichever mode you want to play and make sure you use the exact same notes that the keys E minor and G major use but make your home base or emphasis/ root note whichever mode you are trying to play this might be confusing so I compare emphasis on different words when speaking a sentence. Example:"HOW are you doing today?" Now put the emphasis on a different word using the same exact words and the same exact sentence and you'll get a different effect and a whole different meaning and context while still using the same words and same exact sentence: "How are YOU doing today?" Or "How are you DOING today?" Or "How are you doing TODAY?" All of those are the same exact sentence using the same exact words but every time I move the emphasis to a different word it can mean a whole different meaning and have a tremendously different effect when using different emphasis yet it's the same exact words in the same exact sentence.. modes are like the emphasis word it can change dramatically the meaning of what you are saying without changing any words from the sentence you are saying and if you add different tones on top of that you have so many different meanings and feelings that can be interpreted from the same exact sentence with the same words spoken in the same order yet vastly different and almost an infinite amount of meanings and feelings can come about using the same words and the same sentence. That's exactly what you do with modes I don't know if that makes sense right now but one day it will I promise just don't ever give up on trying to understand the language of music it can be overwhelming and confusing at first but you have to surround yourself by people who can speak it fluently and consistently speak music everyday just as you spoke your first language everyday until you could speak it fluently you surround yourself with it and you try little by little each day to speak it even if it's just trying one word sounding Out one part of one word and that's all you do for one day all that matters is that you have consistent practice and surround yourself with people who speak the language fluently and encourage you to speak instead of belittling you for saying a word wrong they laugh and say the word incorrectly the way you did just so you can learn to speak imagine if the people who raised you yelled at you and beat you for saying a word wrong you would never want to try to speak again. Music is a language and as soon as you start treating it like one and knowing that it is one you'll start to see progress and start understanding how to speak music fluently. I hope this helps

In contrast his work in guns n roses is immaculate. He delivered melodic, soulful original solos in “there was a time” and great little shred solos in “Chinese democracy” and “better” and “shacklers revenge” so yeah he’s definitely incredibly talented.
