We weren’t far from there last year with our custom crew. We Hauled wheat to Chappell as well. We headed north to MT from there, didn’t return back home till early Sep.

Thank you mike for sharing these combines cutting wheat in Nebraska those fields are really big . I just have on question mike in the first part of this video is there a reason why he used a stripper head instead of cutting stalk and all .I know there a reason why but I was just curious. As always thank you the excellent job you do to bring these videos to us thru the whole year .thanks to farmers who also let you film these videos so that we can watch them .

We use stripper heads for harvest efficiency, increased organic matter, soil shade, and various other reasons, but those are the orimart

What happened to the stripper head. Looked like it would take off. It was such a great idea,so much less trash to run through the machine.

So what is on the front of the neighbor's tractor? Is that some kind of pusher bar to help the trucks out of the field or something?
@farmhandmike11 күн бұрын
They are rollers that fold down and roll down corn and milo stalks to prevent stubble damage to the tires.
@nielsdybro975917 күн бұрын
Nice video. I noticed one of the JD tractor had what looked like stalk rollers mounted to the front of it. Were they using those to reduce tire damage in the wheat fields?
@jessenp2016272517 күн бұрын
We use the stalk rollers in the spring, we’ll use them Strip Tilling Corn on Corn, or drilling oats/chickpeas into corn stalks.

What is the advantages of this header Mike?
@farmhandmike12 күн бұрын
Stripper heads pulls the head of wheat/grain off of the plant which leaves a higher stubble than a head with a sickle. Guys in these areas like them for that reason. This is a pretty dry area so the longer the stubble the better chance of holding the snow in the winter time from blowing away and can then melt in for moisture for next seasons crop. Some other guys that are selling straw are using them then they will come in with a swather and mow it down then bale it. Some places like the longer straw as today most farms are running rotary combines and they break up the straw more.
