Great video! First time I've seen your channel. I will be watching it more! The Claus combines seem to be gaining popularity. From what I understand, they are a good combine. I've had the opportunity to see the Case AF11 in the field with a 50' grain head. That thing is a beast!! This grain cart is insane! Seeing all the round bales there, they must run quite a few cattle too.
@farmerdrone5 күн бұрын
The Claas is a great machine. Powerful yet very fuel efficient. They are expensive here in Canada .. The round bales were actually on a neighbours field ..

My son-in-law designed and patented the “Split-Flex” corn head now being sold by Geringhoff. His corn head is 24 row 30” centers corn head. He can shell 20 acres per hour with just this combine. When he runs it along with his 16 row “Split-Flex” head it take at least six semi’s to keep him going depending on how far they are from the elevator. It’s amazing to watch.

First time on this channel. Born on a farm in Ont. Guelph grad, ended up doing regulatory research in Western Canada. It's the fall colors that make me home sick.
@farmerdrone12 күн бұрын
Hi Dennis ... well, I was born in the west and dumped off in Ontario as a 19yr old. Have spent over 50 years in Renfrew County west of Ottawa where the fall colours can't get any better! Before I concentrated on farm videos, I filmed outdoor stuff .. water and fall colours. etc. You may want to check out that part of my channel ... thanks .. Les ..

Key question is what are the yields? My brother in law has been running over 280 bushel per acre , best fields over 320. Only so much you can push through the thresher. If he ran 16 rows he'd have to drive at 2.5 mph or choke the combine. 410 bu. hopper wouldn't make it half way across a quarter section.
@farmerdrone9 күн бұрын
Thanks for the great question.. I didn't get the numbers for this field. I did film one a couple days earlier and it was harvesting at 270 bu/ac..

One thing about it, no other YT farming video has as many PoV camera angles used per second.
@farmerdrone12 күн бұрын
I try and shoot every action from at least 4 angles ... in multiple angles the air, alongside the equipment, in the combine and in the forage wagon tractor. I also hang GoPros on the equipment, heads and on the back of equipment.. Keeps you from being bored. downside ... it takes 30-40 hours post production time to make a 12 minute video!!

Thanks for a great video and some awesome equipment. Something I have never saw before is the large round flashing light on top of the combine. What is that all about?
@farmerdrone3 күн бұрын
@Eddie_Schantz when the grain bin on the combine is approaching full, it signals the operator of the tractor/grain cart to pull up so the combine can unload...
@Eddie_Schantz3 күн бұрын
@@farmerdrone If that is the case, then this one has a malfuntion becasue it is flashing even on an empty bin.

I used to do all my videos with drones only and synced to music but I have found more success by adding ground GoPro video and audio as well .. then I can use the audio from the GoPro for the drone too... most of my videos now are 3-5 flights and GoPro video all superimposed over top of each other resulting in what appears to be one flight ...

In this part of Ontario, the farm land diminishes in size as the forests increase. This crew travels a radius of 80km from home base and harvests 8,200 acres. On a good day, they probably harvest 20ac. per hour! I am preparing video of several more of their harvests. Great crew!
