Why isn’t the tunnel screen flagged for “ineligible man downfield?” Just curious bc that penalty always confuses me.

I could be wrong but I believe the linemen can’t be MORE than 5 yards downfield before the ball is caught by an eligible receiver. They’re at 4-5yds when the ball is caught by Em.

So on those 4 by 0 formations does the weak side tackle report as eligible?

NCAA rules are less permissive than NFL rules and require that the five interior linemen, numbered 50 through 79, never line up as eligible receivers. If an offensive tackle wishes to line up as a tackle-eligible, he must physically change his jersey number to that of an eligible receiver. Reporting does not do the trick in college. This also applies in HS. This past weekend an OT lined up in the TE position wearing 94 and caught a touchdown pass. I have also seen teams line up T-T-G-C-G-TE and throw to the TE who is uncovered. The flanker on the two tackle side aligns on the LOS and the SE steps off the line making the TE in the tackle position eligible.
