I am from an older school that a very dear friend that I worked for taught me these skills that I worked though collage with and still to this day I am passing it on to my sons that are grown men. College did not teach me this skill. A very dear friend did and he has passed on toa better place. Thank you Buckin for showing me my roots from one of my mentors. We did not even use they fancy belt, IT WAS ALL ROPE AND KNOTS.

the biggest lesson I learned watching this beyond the leaving the saw running and the nubs for hooks on the lean side and all those tactics was the basic strategy of just taking your time and thinking about things

I just cut down a tree two days ago using your method of keep cutting into the wedge side to bring the tree forward. Worked perfectly, Mrs said that looked cool. Plenty of times the stubs come in handy.

This guy cracks me up. I started out old school and I switched to some of the newer gadgets. But he’s 100% correct you don’t need it! Especially when you are as good as he is! Most would be rigging, roping, zipp lining. And he’s like 20 mins it will be on the ground 😂

I simply love the old-school way, I’m using it when the circumstances are in favor, but as you said everything has his own place and time. Now tru internet everybody knows tips, tricks and techniques but when to choose which one it comes only by tru working experience, that real wisdom. I’ve learned a lot from your nice, simple and clear explanations. Thank for sharing the knowledge. Erik from Budapest / Hungary 🇭🇺

Maybe this will help you buckin when you have a tree like that that's leaning and it wants to throw you around you can clip a carabiner across your scare strap and it will keep you from swinging around if that makes sense thank you for everything God bless my friend

I’ve been messing around with a thimble prusik for the same reason. Easy to stow on the harness but adds confidence on the skinny ones. It’s great to be stable.
