$1000 smartphones are dead. iPhone is dead. People are sick and tired to be paying $1000 for an iPhone. There is a growing market for sub-$500 flagship phones though, and that is what One Plus is all about. One Plus could even try to make more of the sub-$400 or even sub-$300 flagship and their market share would keep growing that way too. There is absolutely no point consumers will continue paying $1000 for a phone that costs below $200 to mass manufacture.

trust me people are still willing to shell out $1500.. it's just the oversaturation of the smartphone industry means people are upgrading phones less frequently and that includes midrange handsets.. people with the money are more likely to shell out more for the big brands knowing they'll last for many years..but the reverse is also true. this also means mid-priced phones are also eyed by more and more people as ideal
