His speech was so good and I love how he tied in the circumstance of being invited by the Buckley Institute to the beautiful story about Buckley and Ira Glasser. I've been following the Twitter Files developments very closely on an almost daily basis since the start, but I need to hear it explained over and over and over again to digest it. Prosecuted for what? I don't think Congress will have passed any laws making it a crime for people working for the FBI to send emails to people working at Twitter. No, people choose to forfeit their rights and freedoms whenever they believe they have an enemy who gets more out of those rights than they do themselves. This whole complex is something that has really been developing since 9/11, initially used for spying on muslims until the Snowden leaks, when the Obama admin responded by moving the control apparatus into the private sector, which would simply "co-ordinate" with the government agencies rather than those agencies have direct back-door access to telecoms and internet servers. It's that co-ordination that you're seeing the fruits of here.

Quite the opposite - it is another ‘center of power‘ whose independence FROM the government is explicitly established by the First Amendment. I THINK I understand what you intended to communicate... i.e. a ‘fourth estate‘ that is independent and free from government control, coercion, and interference used to be considered absolutely essential to good governance, but I wanted to clarify, as what Mr. Taibbi is understandably deeply alarmed about is the subsuming of the ‘free‘ press INTO the government. The corporate state has already largely succeeded in this takeover in regards to ‘mainstream‘ corporate media, and the Twitter files only demonstrate that they intend to do the same to ALL forms of mass communication.
