When will Ohio State's opponents get called for a holding call?

They still need a reliable Kicker, a 335+lbs Nose Tackle sized D-Lineman or two, and a deep Safety from the Portal. Also, a stud Center would be great because then they could move Hinzman back to Guard, his most dominant position, unless they can develop another O-Lineman on the roster to snap the ball reliably and complete his blocking assignments.

Main key that no one mentions....D line needs to maintain gap integrity vs Gabriel. If they don't, he can run wild again.
@todd837211 сағат бұрын
That one play on Defense where the D Line looked like they all dropped in coverage, they didn't execute correctly. They were supposed to engage the O Line first, so the O Line would commit to their blocks (and then drop into coverage) and then the blitzing LB would have a free run at the QB. Instead, they didn't engage the O Line at all, allowing the O Line to easily pick up the blitz.

Also, my biggest fear is they run tempo to start thd game but have miscues (bad pass, drop a ball etc.). Tempo is only effective if it has a successful outcome 2 out of every 3 plays
@roris588213 сағат бұрын
Or they could get creative by having Trey and Judkins on the field at the same time, with 1 of them in the slot instead of a TE, while running Tempo, and alternate them when 1 gets winded. After all I trust Trey's blocking more then Gee Scott's, plus he's faster, especially when LBs have to cover him.

Howard was injured and Day choked... again because it was his responsibility to replace Howard, if he couldn't throw accurately or run the ball effectively. It was up to him to have his backup QB ready to take over and Brown could have hit a few deep balls, in the 2nd Half to score once or twice because that was all that was required to win.

OSU should be the underdog and hate that they’re favored. This game could easily come down to special teams and we know how that would go for OSU… Gabriel is a better QB, has better trenches, superior special teams, and a better HC. OSU has better RB’s, WR’s, DB’s with a toss-up at LB. No way this game is a blowout, OSU has to play a perfect aggressive game to win (just like they did against Tennessee).

Gabriel's longest pass play was against OSU. I expect the Ducks to be rusty and won't score on their first or second possession because they'll run the ball. Then they'll open it up and Gabriel will open it up. Oregon's receivers are simply unstoppable, no one has been able to stop them, not OSU, PSU or Michigan who all are supposed to have great defenses. Tennessee is not a good measuring stick for OSU. I've watched at lot of the Vols games and they never did impress me. The question is, can OSU score willingly on Oregon and I think the answer might be yes. I think this game is going to be in the 40s and whom ever gets the ball last will win the game.

I don't mind some homerism, but come on! Not only did you fail to correctly analyze the 12OCT game, but you've assigned skills that Ohio St doesn't possess and acted like this is going to be a blowout. Two score win, Book? Whatever you're smoking, I want some of that! Do you realize that Gabriel has only been sacked 5 times in the last 11 games and that none of them were from Ohio St or Penn St? Yes, the Duck D didn't look good against PSU, but a lot of that was due to the fact that Oregon didn't rotate their D line as they have done all season and if you think a great coach like Dan Lanning (a far better coach than Day according to pretty much everyone) didn't recognize that was a mistake and has corrected for it, you shouldn't be commenting on college football. I listened to this post because I like hearing the other side rather than an echo chamber, but I'm left feeling like it was a complete waste of time. I won't be back.
@benmeaige430614 сағат бұрын
This isn’t a national podcast, so I don’t know what saying you won’t be back means? It’s obviously directed at OSU fans, so if they want more views don’t you think they are going to say what those fans want to hear?
@robdrayer218314 сағат бұрын
@benmeaige4306 Let's start with some honesty. Go watch some of Spencer McLaughlin (locked on Ducks) and you'll see what I'm talking about. He's clearly a Ducks fan, but he's honest about his analysis and calls out Oregon when they deserve it. Having a bias towards your team is perfectly fine, but if you're feeding your audience straight up Pollyanna BS, where's the value? I've watched and read many posts from opposing commentators, but this was ridiculous.
@robdrayer218314 сағат бұрын
I just watched a Buckeye talking head (the film guy). Go watch his post and you'll see what I'm talking about. I didn't totally buy into what he's selling, but it was honest and well thought out. I honestly have no idea who will win because OSU is still to unpredictable on how they will perform yes they whooped Tenn but maybe the weather did help somewhat and maybe Tenn is just a bad team overrated by ESPN, for all I know OSU could come back out playing like they did vs mich so I'm not sure. I must say I do not feel comfortable about this game because I fell like OSU could lose it just depends on what type of team we see but if OSU does lose then Ryan day needs fired on the spot and it's time to move on because no way a team with this much talent and experience should lose 3 games.
