Such an innocent time. GM looked happy and still carefree. Before the weight of fame got increasingly heavier and became a burden too hard to bear. Such a special friendship those two young men had, that lasted their entire lives. Whatever anyone might say, most of GM's friends from way back remained true and loyal ... and as the saying goes, you are the company you keep. A beautiful man. A beautiful human being. He is so missed.

Yeah I noticed that too, George was a real smiler back then with that amazing grin he had. He was never the same inside when his first love died, I feel, he never got over it and his inner turmoil began once he reached his 30s. However he still kept that wonderful voice which just got better and better. I so miss the 80s 90s innocence.

well now don't go that far he was Happy in his life but yes those losses were hard on him but to say he was never happy again would be a bit of a stretch especially when George himself squashed that notion many times in interviews notably one of a few he did with Parkinson I forget the 07 maybe you have to look it up George had struggles like we all face and yes those losses stayed with him just like his loss will stay with us but to say he was never happy again is just simply not the case he had good times before he died and he had friends and still had his family and he found love 2 more times they can never replace Anselmo but they made him happy life is not that cut and dry its much more complicated then you also have his Pneumonia scare that made even more greatful for his life but it also had lasting affects on him he said he had some Anxiety issues he had to get treatment for then there is the lasting physical scars I will always believe that is was first and foremost the Pneumonia that either triggered an already there heart issue or caused one

stephen Taylor - I’m a classroom teacher, and I actually think kids LOOK like these kids. Some of them actually have hair that looks in style again today. Not many of them...but a few, actually. Kids, to me, look exactly the same age as they did in those days. Kids haven’t changed...people’s perceptions change the older they get. All older adults think the current rash of kids are different from kids when they were kids. It’s a phenomenon that happens every single generation. Of course you’ll deny this, and some will say, “But kids have changed”...yeah, ALL OLDER people say this, and they’ve been saying for over 2,000 years. Plato wrote about it, in fact.

It was called Saturday Superstore and was a Saturday morning TV show in the UK that was primarily for 8/16 year olds. It was compulsory viewing when I was a teenager as all of the best stars of that time would make an appearance and you had the chance to phone in and get to speak to your idols. I tried ringing all morning when Wham were on that day but couldn't get through, it felt like the end of my teenage years not to speak to George. I thought I would never get the chance to speak to him again however in 2007 I was lucky enough to win a charity auction to go backstage at his first 25 live gig and George walked in with Kenny Goss so I got to say hello, it really was just wonderful and he was very sweet and accommodating. He was a beautiful soul.❤❤❤❤

I was a child like the one in the public in '84 (I was 13).... I had so many girl classmates in middle school that went crazy for these two boys, in Italy!!! We boys didn't understand, we had sensed that George was not really straight, from the videos and the filmed concert, but we could not explained it to them, not even to ourselves. But watching this TV show now what appears is that we simply had in front of us a very kind and genuine human being (especially GM), whom I would have liked as a friend in school. When they talk on the phone and answer their fans they show great empathy. We probably could not understand what great turmoil could be, living his sexual identity during an historical moment and with a record industry and a english society (not only english, I mean all the world was so homophobic at that time) full of prejudices and clichés. GM would later (in a few years) become one of the most famous pop star in the world and perhaps a career that after all, would have ruined that balance in him and that sensitivity George had without any doubts. Such a great loss from every point of view.
@jr92493 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s interesting the the Italians thought he was gay too during Wham. Why did you think that. I thought it was just us Americans who thought that and that it was just because we had different ideas about how men should dress and move their bodies. Americans wanted guys to seem macho and “manly” in ways British people don’t. It was still that way when I lived in London in the 2000s.
@karenmeaden5878 Жыл бұрын
What a great comment. George had so much empathy but obviously really struggled as he was effectively told it would ruin his career and future record sales if he came out as gay. Tragic for him to have to live such a lie but times were very different to now. Even when he was in love with Anselmo and dealing with his HIV/aids diagnosis this was a secret from his family. I don't believe that any of his real female fans would have abandoned him even back then as we all loved George for himself and his sexuality would have made no difference. What an amazing man he was and I miss his presence in our world more and more. Watching clips like these make me happy and sad with equal measure.❤❤
