Had a good week working colts. Trying to get in what we can before snow falls. The buckskin colt got his first saddle and did great. We introduced the red colt to a saddle blanket and things seem to be going good.

The colt was looking for your leadership, and he got it. Fast is slow, and slow is fast. I totally agree that bucking lunging with the first saddle is not an indicator of bucking, it's just an expression of figuring out something new. Your steady body language and voice were a calming influence. Plus the horse and is a looker for sure.

Nice to see progress each week. Not to many that don't buck a little the first time they're saddled, and if they don't, it leaves a person always wondering when/if its going to happen sometime down the road. Thanks for the show my Friend.

❤🎉 Both these colts are so cute to watch. You show a lot of patience looking for subtle responses or reactions. That buckskin was hilarious going from sorta sleepy to quite athletic bucking lol. Just goes to show how their minds are always working and they can turn on a dime!! Very enjoyable to watch and hear your commentary. Thanks for your videos!! ❤️🐴🐎💖😊⭐🧑‍🎄🎄🙏😁🤗

I'd have let him heal up for an additional 2 weeks, at least, to avoid him getting a hernia. That is a saddle pad, not a blanket. I use a crummy, cheap, light weight kids saddle at first incase they try to lie down and roll on it. In fact I've used a kid's saddle to desensitize and saddle yearlings. And later go to a full size saddle when they're 2yr olds. Ride them a couple times and turn them out, ride them a couple times and turn them out and do this until they're 3 and then really start riding them. I want them to be really sound for many years. I've seen a lot of 2yr olds broken down by hard riding too early. They do need exercise to promote good bone growth. I like them living in pastures where they can get that exercise with other horses.

Will you put out another amazing video on training the colts a buckskin Sears taken everything a lot better than but I think when the other one hit his head it has something to do with put it a little bit behind the buckskin looks like both are amazing colts of course with your experience you know what to do than someone like me who doesn't. Although your videos are helpful for a old man like me. Learn something more everyday. So thank your friend Billy
