Thx for another great show! I like seeing young Hyde out there. Those dogs you have are sure a big help. I always say, a good dog will save you a lot of steps! Best wishes to you folks.

I guess you know that border collies, have a certain amount of hereditary knowledge, but they have to be taught what you want them to do, ie, to run out, either left or right, stop, stand, walk up, sit, to move either right or left, I used come bye, for left, come here for right Don’t bugger that little bitch up, by using youre howling dogs to teach her, I wouldn’t be taking her out with your working dogs, they have to do completely different jobs, Train her up on those goats the boy was playing with, It will take a couple of years to get a heading dog working properly I’d like to see you give her to a sheep dog trainer to get going, she’s a good looking bitch, don’t bugger her up

God dam, always a hoot when Hyde comes along and watching him straddling Hoorah. No pony boy there, jumped right to cowboy.

Fall is definitely sneaking up fast.. Its just so much fun to start a new pup. George is setting a great example for Maggie to follow. Having older dogs to teach takes a lot of time out of the training to get a young one up and running. I call it cheating fair, chuckle. Great week, fall colors should be amazing here soon...

How much country do you graze all up ?
@shawnjack80925 күн бұрын
Hi, we graze on federal land, it is not private. We have grazing permits for summer and winter range. I do not know the actual acreage, the summer range is 21 miles long and about 6 miles wide. The winter range is much much bigger, 7 or 8 time as big. We actually ride much more in the winter than summer.

Awesome video, Thanks for taking me along. The dogs listen so well. The terrain is beautiful, and fall is defiantly in the air. Hyde is quite the little cowboy. What a great life, good roots with grama n grampa. I was wondering, how is the young man that went off to the police academy doing? I'm watching from sunny southwest, Florida and never miss a video. So, see ya next week. God Bless all of you... Stay Safe.

I've watched a number of your videos you talk about Utah and Colorado where you are chasing cows, I have two questions. Where in Utah is your ranch and what town in Colorado are you close to?
@shawnjack80925 күн бұрын
Hi, so the winter range is in south east Utah. From Bluff to Mexican Hat and then up on Cedar Mesa as well. The Colorado permit is located west of Cortez on what is called the Glade

Awww one of my favorite cow boys. I don’t know why yall don’t feed your horses. Lol. Just kidding. When you said that about the cattle guard. Isn’t it supposed to stop the cattle? I didn’t think they could walk on those. Is the lil cowboy learning to herd cattle? Woohoo Maggie. What is a dogy calf? That’s good dogs. That Hyde he is pretty smart. Knowing which rein to pull to get Hurah to go the right way. Lol Hyde. He did the whole thing. Some great dogs. Wow. Hello Stephanie good to see you. I’m gonna send you a picture of one of our dogs well actually 2 If you can find the other one. Great video. Thank you so much!
@shawnjack80925 күн бұрын
Hi Cindi, great to hear from you. They are not suppose to be able to walk it, but when it fills in, it is easy for them to get across. A dogy calf is on that has lost its mother. They are pretty easy to spot because the will be much smaller than the other calves and they will have big bellies. They can survive, it is sure is hard on them. We would love to see pictures of your dogs. Thank you for watching

Thx a lot for the show, my friend. I look forward to it every week. I never get tired of looking at cattle and you have a very nice herd. We ran horned Herford for 35 years and now the last 5-6 years we've been using red Angus bulls. They make a really nice cross. Best wishes to you good folks.

Could you explain a little bit more about the timing of when you move pastures? Does it have to do with the terms of your grazing leases? Or is it time of year, climate dependent? Water dependent?
@jeffbrooks828811 күн бұрын
Looks like you guys are wearing chest holster rigs now. I’m glad to see you with protection out there. I’ve had a couple of bad encounters with wildlife including a massive male lion that wanted me for lunch. There are lots of reasons to carry a pistol in the great out of doors. Stay safe!
