Just finished watchingy Season 6. Amazing! My wife and I are retired cops with a combined 63 years of police experience. You impressed the heck out of both of us. We cheered you on with each episode! We were sad when you didn't win, but you won the hearts of so many. You are an example to all! Thank you for all the enjoyment.

Thank you for this video Woniya! For the past few years I have been quiet about my intentions, but since this show premiered I have wanted to audition for this show more than anything. However I am well aware of how difficult the process can be so I have been increasing my skill set and continuing to make videos on my youtube channel which brings me so much joy. Wilderness survival has captivated me since I was a child and its awesome to see like minded people sharing their passion and encouraging others. Your right about being vulnerable and comfortable in front of the camera. There is a natural urge to try and fake it for the camera but I do my best acting like the guy that all my friends know. Btw you do a great job acting natural and comfortable. Your personailty has a very positive vibe.

awesome! so glad you found it useful. I would say go ahead and give it a try. You'll never be exactly "ready" and some years will have a different crew of applicants, you never know when you will stand out more or less than others as it depends on the whole field

You are simply adorable!! When you laugh, it’s an honest, no BS, belly laugh whether it’s at a situation or yourself, THAT’S someone who’s “honest in their skin”. Having taught survival in the military (and REI) and being through some pretty intense schools (with pretty high attrition rates), NONE of what I did compared to you being selected (and performing magnificently BTW, and yes I was rooting for you to win and was pretty pissed when you got pulled) for this life-changing experience! Kudos girl, you earned it! 😉

thanks so much Paul. Also, they didn't actually pull me. I chose to leave as a gift to myself for my birthday and to set an example to the world- choosing my wellbeing over the "win" and money. I also knew i had a medical check that same day and my chances of passing it were slim. I found out i was right, they would have pulled me hours after i left. Glad i did it on my own terms. as you say, my integrity and values are worth more than gold to me

I do not have tv but was able to ketch you on Netflix. Being that we are around the same age I was just in awe of what you did. I connected so deeply to your story. I was single for 9 years and was told I could never have children. At 40yrs old I had my daughter Sophia and met my husband. How you understand your cycle and body omg I just wanted to hug you. I am trying to teach women but we need more of us who understand. I am looking forward to learning from you. You are such a guiding light to all women. Congratulations to all your success you definitely deserve it !!!! ❤️🙏❤️

Dear Woniya, you certainly have the personality to pearce the screen but what's comm out to me is your eloquence and abilities to explain things without confusion with a pronunciation of words in a melodic manner that please my ears and motivates my learning process of your English language... I found out that I understand mostly all of your sentences and deep points of mindsets that keep my interest in listening and learning from you all the nuances that are implemented in survival situations... THANKS for being an AUTHENTIC AMAZING person and genuine woman with so much "feminitude" we would say in French. 💥💞👍🧙♂️🙏🐇🐿🦊🙈💥

Woniya, I have to say watching Alone is a guilty pleasure of mine. I really find the show fascinating. But I do have some mixed feelings. I worry about contestants developing long-haul medical problems or PTSD-related issues from their experience. I think the Producers have done a fine job in creating the show, selecting the right participants, editing all that footage, logistics, safety, etc... but I feel the Producers of the show should compensate each of the ten contestants (apart from the final winner). They are making money off the health and well-being of their participants and I feel they are obligated in compensating each person in some way (financially, medically, educationally, etc...).
@BuckskinRevolution3 жыл бұрын
I quite agree. While i am grateful for the experience, i do take issue with them profiting off of us putting our bodies on the line and not compensating us for the effects of it

HI, Can you mention what you were not allowed to trap? in the NWT...I know you couldnt kill foxes, but what about baited traps of any kind? from ducks to grouse, to deadfall or other traps for other animals? baited traps? thx
@BuckskinRevolution2 жыл бұрын
there are a lot of questions we aren't allowed to answer, but I don't think that is one of them. Nope, we weren't allowed baited traps or any kind, and there were a lot of restrictions on what we could hi t or trap. The inability to use bait, the constant snowfall and high winds made deadfalls not seem like a great option out there
@ericwhitehead52812 жыл бұрын
@@BuckskinRevolution : yeah I figured no baited traps would be allowed if you weren't allowed to kill a fox. Too bad about that, as most traps that are any good tend to be baited...You did very well. I bet you were hoping for a south facing location also, wonder if you got one? makes a difference where one gets dropped, and...not being able to travel too far with all that camera gear or a geo-fence is kind of a problem also...hard to move to "greener pastures" if you will.
@BuckskinRevolution2 жыл бұрын
@@ericwhitehead5281 where one gets dropped makes a tremendous difference- the habitat for game and the fishing possibilities were very different in different locations so it's the luck of the draw. Most folks watching don't realize all the limitations that impact how it all plays out
@ericwhitehead52812 жыл бұрын
@@BuckskinRevolution for sure it would, being dropped in a swamp on a north face as opposed to a dry site with trees facing south...major. Did you ever feel confined to your space? wish you had more?

@@ericwhitehead5281 not really, I was on a peninsula and my boundaries extended inland. I only crossed my geofence once. when you are barely eating and it doesn't seem there are more resources far away it doesn't make caloric sense to be doing long hikes

when you were ALONE, were you amazed to find how little food you actually needed to thrive. sprouts, garden and some kind of possible tuber. source of fat? how does a moose become so large....harvests the benthic area of swamps. i' like to know what's there.
@BuckskinRevolution4 жыл бұрын
Well, i was doing the opposite of moose, surviving on pretty much just meat with a few berries tossed in. Yes, I was amazed how long I could go and how well I felt on so little food. That said, i wouldn't have done as well living vegetarian up there. Moose are ungulates and designed for it, we are not and didn't evolve to do it as efficiently as they do

I'm disappointed that the selection process is all about what connections you have and who looks good on TV. But what did I expect from this shallow-ass world? That also explains how with 20k applicants, 6 of the 10 that make it on the show are usually really weak survivalists. For example, Rose had no business being on the show this season, but she looks good for 40 something so they put her on.
