Not a bad sander, the dust collector would be a HUGE improvement to my shop, seeing the only thing i use now is a shop vac, when its convenient.

Thanks for the solid review! The selling point is being able to put some pressure on it without stalling, which is the benefit of direct drive. That leg can easily be moved to whatever surface the sander is mounted to and make belt changes easier. No excuse for crappy plastic knobs, except being cheap. Smart idea with how you improved the dust collection 👍

Well I took the plunge and bought this belt / disk sander and I clicked on your link so you should get a little kickback for you. ( i would think you and everyone else loves getting money) And I like your hose system and Im going to rig up some kind of dual hose like what you got. Btw on Amazon.com it was $209.00

So I just got my new sander in today and I noticed something on mine that was different from yours. There are no hole in the base to bolt down to a work bench. Maybe I just thought yours had holes or was that something you added.? I have a corner on each side that zi may be able to make and clip on to in order to bolt down but holes would of been easier. So far Im really impressed with it. Its .y first bench top belt sander , I have several hand held versions but this is going to be used a lot! I do however have a Craftsman 12" band saw that takes sanding belts (1"). Came out in the 80's but you can no longer get belts from sears and after 25+ years I found a company online who makes them and they have been awesome belts....never broke one yet!

It's possible that manufacturer changed this and that. Mine isn't bolted to the table but it is a nice option to have for sure. BTW, are you on Instagram?

My phone is almost maxed out and cant add anymore apps until next phone. 1 thing I wanted to add was bucktool did change those fasteners to metal ones as you said you have the plastic type. That being said Im still gonna treat them will a lot of tender loving care just so I dont have buy extras down the road!

Oh that's a good news about the fasteners. I asked because I'm more popular on instagram and it's also easier to chat there. Well, enjoy the sander. It's definitely better tool than others out there.

Just a suggestion, you may want to buy a decent dust collector for your shop. Then run 4 inch hose over to that unit. You will collect much much more dust with that than the small ports. That's what I ended up doing to mine.

Really glad I found this vid! Looking to buy a good disc sander and I was intrigued by the direct drive connection to the belt and disc. Its quite a bit pricier than the "others" so wondering if its worth it? Just wondering how's your impression now (pros and cons) that you've had this for a few years. ;) Still recommend it?

Absolutely. Direct drive is the way to go. Those cheaper Sanders are only good if you make wooden toys. Anything bigger than a box of cigarettes will stop the belt. With direct drive it never happens. I highly recommend it if you need a real tool.

I had a Harbor Freight combo sander...lasted me a little over a year then it died. I'm just happy it got me through a large pallet wood project. This one doesn't look half bad.
