Exactly! tho we didn't have much time to see that bc it was confirmed that Zola used another early version of the serum on Bucky before Steve rescued him from the lab in ca:tfa. (remember the line in the bank vault scene, ca:tws, when Bucky was having flashbacks? 'the procedure has already started'? yeah, that line. it was confirmed later that that line meant he'd already been experimenting on him with the serum before The Fall.) This does nothing to undermine Bucky's natural skill! I'm just trying to set a thing straight.

@@raceala4602 well it's generally decided that the scene where Steve rescues Bucky in the first Cap movie, when he's strapped to the table, is when they gave him the serum, but it took a little bit for the serum to work.

Granted, Zola's version wasn't as good, but they probably had given it to him at least a day or two before, so it had plenty of time to work.

The thing is, nobody knew immediately (or even after a few days) that Bucky was also a super soldier, because the effects didn't kick in yet. I mean, that's kinda the point. Nobody knew he was a super soldier and therefore could survive the fall, and that's why it was such a surprise in Winter Soldier. However I think we can all only speculate, so any version could be true.

Agreed. I love John but Bucky could have won on his own. They both got the better of each other when they wanted to (when Bucky started going beyond just fighting to get the shield) and have shown to have equal abilities, aside from my grievance that even outside of Winter Soldier, Bucky should still remember his martial arts. Sam is suddenly a master martial artist when before he got beaten up by Crossbones yet now he is doing flips and tricks and kicks but Bucky just throws punches like a brawler?

As for Sam, his main thing is flying, and fighter pilots go through a lot of training to not pass out during their high-G maneuvers. A couple Capoeira kicks doesn't seem like that much of a step up from an aileron roll into a sharp dive as far as body orientation or other measures of military athleticism are concerned.

I hope so man, Bucky went from butterfly twisting out of the way of Falcon's bullets, matching master martial artists like Cap and Black Panther in combat, to showing none of that fighting against displaced people and Walker (I'd understand fully him being on a combat level close to even a world level martial artist like Bucky given he's a military veteran and no doubt a specialist as explained in episode 2 but then they went so far out of their way to have Walker get slaughtered in combat by Ayo, also a human but still, he should have done far better but he gets rinsed then suddenly can keep up with Bucky combat wise despite doing terribly against Ayo, purely from a fighting proficiency perspective?)? While like I say, Sam isn't so bad as initially he was just showing a bit more martial arts in episode 1 etc. And it's episode 5 he begins to do the capoeira stuff with the shield during a training scene. Plus Falcon knows martial arts in the comics so that isn't at all a problem for me. It's the comparative lack of consistency in ability for Bucky even compared to his other titular character, Falcon. So for Falcon to get the shield, get a vibranium upgrade and become a master martial artist now able to keep up with Batroc (when before he got rekt by Crossbones who got rekt by Cap while Batroc kept up with Cap, only losing when Cap put away the shield and came back in for him a second time) while Bucky just gets a new vibranium arm that does nothing close to what the old one did (consistently overpowering Cao and BP's two arms to his one old metal) and loses his old martial arts skills that are signature to him as a character and nothing else just sucks to me.

@@Jake-qo3mp Well let's not forget, Winter Soldier was equipped and trained to be a pure cold and ruthless killing/assassination machine, if a technique didn't help him to murder or maim a target then Hydra likely didn't care to teach it to him. That didn't leave much for Bucky's emotionally driven non-lethal intentions (aside from boxing/brawling style he likely learned in the Army before getting super-fied), unlike the more rounded training Steve and T'challa had. If he intends to continue assisting Sam or other Avengers in the future and seeks out the right training to that end, I'm sure he could be just as effective in combat if not more so than Winter Soldier, all without killing. As to the strength difference argument, my speculation is that it was an intentional design choice. A choice made either by the Wakandans to reduce the threat of WS re-emerging, or by Bucky himself just hoping for something he could feel comfortable with even outside of combat. Ask any real prosthetic engineer, none of their amputee patients are looking for superhuman load lifting ability. Other than that, I don't really have anything else to say. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the entire MCU in fact, has been phenomenal overall with storytelling, character development, visual effects, etc. And for that I'm willing to forgive some occasional minor inconsistencies in fighting skill or power scaling.

@@justanunluckyirishmaninabl5178 I know that man but like I reason to the people who support this thought, if he remembers absolutely vivid details on his locations, actions, languages learned, knife skills and complete history of his time as The Winter Soldier but conveniently forgets one of the most important things, his combat skills and training, then it either seems like a plot hole or a poor writing decision in my opinion. He deliberately didn't kill the Flagsmasher with the knife but he still performed a perfect knife flip ala Winter Soldier. Restraint, reluctance or guilt don't mean loss of knowledge or skill. I would have much preferred an additional caveat to his character that he was wrestling with 'how much' of The Winter Soldier to let out in fear of killing people. They touched on it in Madripoor but never vocalised it so fans such as yourself have to speculate to fulfill their views on the character which I think was lazy on their part, given the format. But in a comic universe, I don't like that theory. Danai Gurira who plays Okoye said before she felt like the Wakandans would put a failsafe in and that makes complete sense. But to weaken him with a weaker arm? That doesn't make sense to me from a storytelling perspective or a character perspective I'm afraid. The majority of it was for me as you felt but it did have it's flaws and problems for me too, the majority of which came from the final episode and it's very weak or absent pay offs and resolutions. I spent years overlooking inconsistencies and poor writing on Marvel's end but after 10 years of doing this, TV format or not, in their 2nd decade of work they shouldn't be making mistakes or being lazy for the sake of the fans who invest themselves in these stories and characters and follow their journies only to be continually disappointed by things in addition to the good stuff that keeps them coming back. Just my view on it, pretty much covers my thoughts.

Everyone keeps saying Bucky was strong and super good as The Winter Solider, but everyone keeps either forgetting or not realizing when he’s Bucky he’s got all that pain and guilt from his kills and everything. He very much holds back, the only time you really don’t see him hold back is against John, and even then he’s still sorta holding back. He doesn’t want to kill, he wasn’t to be anything but The Winter Soldier. Also when he’s The Winter Soldier in Hydra he mainly goes up against regular humans but in the Avengers he goes up against super powered people all the time, none of them are easy to take down like that
