This is just as impressive as JLaser's more technical builds, IMO. His disciplined approach to the physics, not leaning on electronics for any part of this, is extremely impressive. It would be too easy to slap some swiss cheese on a drone and say "the movie thing flies, and mine does too. They're the same!", but JLaser actually made something that acts just like the shield on screen. And he did it by getting to the root of the physics. Top tier stuff!

The "Captain America is just a geometry whiz who can calculate angles perfectly in a split-second" explanation is pretty much spot-on correct. It's mentioned in the movies (and the comics) that the Super-Soldier Serum basically made Cap into what Steve Rogers imagined the perfect soldier to be. So his grasp of tactics and strategy, his reaction time, and his awareness of his environment are enhanced every bit as much as his muscles, skeleton, and metabolism. You can see the seed of what the Serum enhances already present in Steve, though: in the scene where everyone else tries to scramble up the flagpole to grab the flag (getting a ride instead of a hike back to base as a reward), Steve susses out that he can just remove the lynch pin and the pole will fall over, allowing him to pick the flag up off the ground. So the basic ability to figure out efficient tactics and calculate angles on the fly was there, the Serum just cranked it up to 11.

In marvel lore (and I think even in canon) vibranium is actually the most elastic metal on the planet, on top of being ridiculously strong. The combination makes it nearly indestructible. Cap’s shield is a combination of that alloyed with proto adamantium, which is just the hardest substance known to man. The combination makes for a good shield that also bounces like crazy

1:17 No, that’s actually from Cap. Before the super soldier serum, Steve was a math wiz, & with the serum it enhanced his reflexes & brain function along with his strength. Those ricochets are from him reading his environment & throwing his shield at the exact point he wants to throw it at & the precise force needed to keep it moving.

To be fair, in the comics the super soldier serum didn't just enhance his body, it enhanced his mind as well. They wanted a perfect soldier, so reaction times, calculation times, probability consideration, etc. would all be way beyond that of an average human. Which is a long way of saying it wasn't just the shield that was incredible, but his use of it. And the use you yourself have of your mind? Astounding.
